I've had that on numerous occasions and it's a real pain. I changed to PS4 Pro last week and feel great with my 1TB HDD.

Games I am finished playing have always been deleted but I got to the point where the space was running out regardless thanks to Battlefield 1, Ghost Recon Wildlands, GT Sport and Wolfenstein being huge files.

I got an external hard drive so I have room for this patch but why is a patch to fix a couple glitches 24 gigs?

No. I had message saying I didn't have enough space as I ONLY had 34gb free!
Thats probably because the system needs 24gb of space to download the install file and probably needs more than 24gb of space to uncompress the files within the downloaded update file. 24gb plus (almost definitely more than) 24gb doesn't fit into 34gb.

You may be thinking it downloads this...
  • file1 (10mb)
  • file2 (12mb)
  • file3 (10mb)
  • file4 (15mb)
  • etc, etc,
When its more like...
  • file1 (24gb)
The PS4 will need somewhere to store that 24gb file before pulling all the smaller files out of it.

I guess they messed something up big time and rewrote a lot of code once instead of splitting it up in 10 patches

No. I had message saying I didn't have enough space as I ONLY had 34gb free! Although thinking about it I might have got away with it if I deleted the install files and reinstalled the game.

Frankly , this better be necessary because it's ridiculous forcing you to delete 2 games to install ****ing bug fixes!

actually everyone needs more than 48GB to install this update. for starters it downloads the 24GB then it installs the 24GB which makes 48GB overall, then it deletes the 24GB Install file. in the end you will be left with maybe a 2GB or less increase in game size as it overwrites previous game data that its fixing and updating.

but i have no problem with this as i have 2-3TB free and can download this in 4-5 hours

I just wonder what they messed up that would warrant such a substantial rewrite, besides fixing the wheel and audio issues.

Well damn there goes my rubberbanding while I'm out grocery shopping, I'll be asleep before this download is done maybe I'll check on the ps plus games for the month.

Vision Gran Turismo
The "MINI Clubman Vision Gran Turismo" has been released.

After the update has been installed, the cars can be purchased from the [Vision GT] option within the [CARS] section in "My Home". Alternatively, it is also possible to obtain the cars by completing a lap (regardless of the lap time) in the new Seasonal Events, available only for a limited time.

Mid-Field Raceway
The popular original track of the Gran Turismo series makes a comeback with further refinements! This high speed circuit is built on a mountain landscape full of inclines and descents. It is further made dynamic by the famous grade separated crossing where the direction of the lap circle changes, and its long flat out sections and mid- to high-speed corners.

B-Spec
The event races of Career mode are now compatible with B Spec, where the AI drivers race for the player. You can use B Spec for races you might find difficult to complete such as some of the longer endurance races, or when you just want to watch the race. You can select [B-Spec] from the quick menu displayed before the start of event races.

New Paint Feature
The [Paint] feature is now compatible with custom rear wings. In addition, [Select from previously applied paint color] has been added to the menus inside the Paint feature to make it easier to paint the body and wing in the same color.

Additional cars available to paint
The Mazda LM55 Vision Gran Turismo and the Chevrolet 2X Vision Gran Turismo is now compatible with the body paint feature.

Other:
- The steering wheel controller force feedback has been weakened for the Red Bull X Series Fan Car.
- It is now possible to view seasonal event information inside the web browser version of the Community feature, within the official website gran-turismo.com.

FF strenght bug is not fixed, still resets to default in Online/Lobby Races !!!
Ohh dear......:ouch::ouch::banghead::banghead:
That’s strange I can confirm 100% that my FFB Settings are never reseted. I have them at FFB Strenght 3 and FFB Sensitivity at 9. And it’s definitely always the same. I‘m on T150.

I live in a Western country with 'ok' internet (unlimited adsl) and I started this at 3pm our time and I believe I wont be done before midnight...

Alright sorry to spoil everyone’s mindset but the same “24gb” update happened with War Thunder a few days ago. I’m pretty sure it’s an issue on Sony’s end. Also whilst writing this someone’s told me they just reinstalled the last 3 patches? No idea but it’s nothing new to the game for sure.

That's GT6...

just turned on my ps4 for todays update wow 24gb it better be worth it.At least it will be done in 45 mins feel for those with slow connections.can anyone confirm or deny batOtaq post re content update.

The current and common thinking so far appears to be that this update is essentially a complete reinstall of the game, overwriting the old code.

Did anybody downloaded and installed this new update?
I’m half of it and still 80 minutes to go!
Curiosity is killing me!! No more nails to chew!!

My internet at home sucks living with 6 other roommates. Said 14 hours so I put my iPhone on the charger and used personal hot spot. Says it’ll take around 97-105 minutes. Sad my phone is that much quicker than my internet

There was probably nothing that badly messed up, but patching patches of patches of patches was probably getting too messy so they took the nuclear option and have given everyone a fresh install. These things happen from time to time.

Yes. I had it completely downloaded 30 mins after it was released (I have fast fibre internet). Don't get too excited. There's no new additional content. Its just a rollup of all previous updates as well as the new bug fixes. PD took the nuclear option and nuked all the previous updates, giving us all a fresh install in one big update.

Read the thread. I don't know how many more times I can say there is no new content, he is incorrectly referencing the 1.16 update for GT6.

Thank you!
“Nuclear” is your internet.... I have fiber too but it started with 150minutes download... one hour left!!

So roll all the previous updates into one. Seems fair.

Wonder when we'll get up to Spec 2.0.

Hi, that is realy strange. On t-gt here, In single player quikrace it works and stay at what you have set. in mp lobby it reset to default(5) every time you enter track. ff- sen saved and dont reset. Weird crap !! :)

Now I don't really know much about these kind of things, but given they have, by all appearances, re-written a substantial amount of the game, is this effectively version 2.0??

My understanding of these things were patches went up 1.14 to 1.15 to 1.16, etc. then when a 'new' version was released it goes up to 2.0 so subsequent patches will be 2.01 to 2.02 etc.

Edit: Maybe they planned for the GR Supra update to be 2.0??

I don't think adding two extra cars will be considered enough to increment the game all the way up to 2.0. I think Spec 2.0 would be saved for a major content update.

GT5 only got a Spec 2.0 as it got a huge content and game update, I doubt we'll see this for GTS anytime soon

EDIT: Tree'd for the second time today :boggled:

GT6 didn't go to Spec II, and GTS isn't even half a year old, and hasn't even started it's first official FIA season. If GTS even receives a Spec II update I don't anticipate it until long until it's life cycle, I'm talking one or two years plus.
