I know, but they weren't being specific. So, I just had to troll.
I was. But the '06 GT is no slouch. Give it time & we might see the EcoBoost GT Gr. 3 car. If not, the '06 can win races easily in a capable pair of hands. And some of the liveries have been applied to the older GT.
Now onto some of the new stuff in the update. The GT is going to be a handful if you're not careful.

It could be that they have plans to make a spec 3 version that is for Gr. 3 and save the money by making their own variant rather than a GTE/GTLM car that no longer exists. Also just because they have access to the car doesn't mean they have access to all variants, this misnomer is pretty irritating to reiterate every time the "muh race car brigade" or the like show up and are "frustrated" they didn't get that variant along side the road variant. Also it's been shown that even if they get licensing on a car they don't go to the manufacture and take the photos, sound recording, and other data to build it. It seems many times they use already owned or private collection cars.
The other reason is as given, that this car could be used in the next FIA season, and trying to stack it up with other already in game cars is a process, with any esports game that adds new content. It's better to have it balanced or the potential rather than rushed. And even if it doesn't come to the game PD are still giving free content. Perhaps the price they're willing to pay opposed to other groups is lower than manufactures want, I'm sure PD as well are interested in these cars.
