GT4 Bugs

Know idea if it's been meantioned but when I first started GT4, if you looked behind you car by pressing L1 you only got the exhaust noise, specially when you put a racing exhaust on your car.

When I started the whole game again (save corrupted) the exhaust noise wasn't there anymore. It was like the front view, exhaust, wind and engine noise. Has anyone had this problem?

Well after 3 hours of driving the 24 hours of le sarthe, I have noticed that the right side of my CLK GTR's tailights seem to have an area that seems to be dead....Looks like my car has a dead tailight....

You know that first Subaru Legacy that appears when you enter the Subaru/new cars section? I bought that car and it does not have a working rear taillight (drive on the Circuit De la Sarthe or any nighttime track to see it doesn't work.

Either it's intentional or GT4 didn't add a "fix lights" option to the game.

Geez, all you whiney babies...
Heaven forbid they make a game that's actually a CHALLENGE.
Is it too difficult for you?
Is everybody mad because they didn't bother to think about what they were going to do before they did it?
Or is it really the game's fault?

I'm sure that if you couldn't run out of fuel, people would be saying, "well, that's not realistic..."

Just reset, reload, and try again.
If you're PO'd about your wasted time, just remeber now you have "mad knowledge" of the track and car.

What's another 5 hours in a game that involves hundreds of hours?

It seems you have a better game manual then us, I can't even find the word pitstop in mine.

That's because it isn't a word, and it's not in there.

However, if you read the manual section (no page numbers - ace!) dealing with Gran Turismo Mode Race Menu, then Events you'll see the following subheadings:

STARTING AN EVENT RACE

RACES

SETTINGS

PIT STOPS.

I was wrong, it is in the manual. PD must think it’s a word.

Doesn’t this contradict your first sentence?

Anyway, like I said you have a better manual then us.

The only pages without page numbers in our manual are “Motor Trend’s Advanced Racing Techniques”, and advertisements for the Driving Force Pro, Epson printers, Sony home theatre system (and “Setting Up Dolby Surround Sound for Gran Turismo 4”), Gran Turismo 4 Complete, Prima Official Guide Gran Turismo 4, a GT4 Baseball Hat and a GT4 Tire Clock.

Pit stops. Two words... :D

Come off it! We don't have any chuffin' page numbers!

The Japanese one was fantastic though. The same thickness as the disc box!

Im not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but its quite a long topic and woukld take a long time to read through.

I've noticed that on the MGF Trophy, the picture at the top is of the Golf I around Hong Kong. Which has nothing to do with MGF's.

I also noticed the camber on the Series 1 too, quite strange, but he did indeed come high up in the order.

The jittering is not a bug at all. Not in the traditional sense anyway. It's an interlacing problem likely caused by some graphical filter or another applied at the beginning of the race to make the game look better. It only lasts a few seconds, you guys are overreacting BIG TIME.

mine happens during the races sometimes, and its even done it on the results screen (when you can see the cars in the background)

I agree - it made the Japanese version close to unplayable. In fact extremely close to unplayable in 2-player mode. It wasn't just before the race, it was before, during AND after, whenever the PS2 was challenged to display a lot of things simultaneously.

I had my first case of the jitters last night (I'm on PAL by the way) when I took my MB Patent Motor Wagen/Horseless carriage thing on the Las Vagas drag strip.
Damn it was bad (the car is as well).

GT4 manual is the bigest waste of paper i have ever seen..it says nothing about any of the game modes..its just stupid things..why did they even make it..?

Maybe unrealistic... but it could be worse : Imagine 24h Nürburgring ... A-spec....
you've driven over 23 hours and somewhere at the Karussell you run out of fuel : If it would be realistic, the car would roll out slowly and that's it ! 23 hours racing for nothing....

True, but at least it would be more realistic. Now that I know what I did wrong, I won't mind if I run out of fuel if it is my fault and it does it realistically.

i've got a problem with my controller (standard PS2), my square button is my accelarator and my crossed button is my brake, somethimes when the race starts the brake stays on very lightly even when I'm not touching the button, probably there is something wrong with my controller, but in the menu screen the button works fine...

I very doubt it's the game. I had a controler once that always went slightly left. Sometimes it did it in the menu and sometimes it didn't.

You might not notice it in the menu because the button is pressed down slightly all the time, you need to fully press it to do anything I think.

I have had this problem many of times, during a race I am driving against crap cars and was getting smashed. Then I seen the brake slightly on. It turned out to be the right analog stick, just give it a pull and wiggle it about and stuff until the brake is off. And be mean with it :)

Got a boring problem.

My Ruf Porsche Yellow Bird just has no sound when u are in the onboard camera looking ahead. That sounds strange because when i press L1 and look to back/rear of the car, the sound is loud and normal, but, when i am in original onboard view, there´s no sound!!

I am sad to this as i love this car.

I had already tried to change sounds settings in the game and also in my sound setup. But nothing changes.

I've had one or two sound problems with GT4. I have it on Dolby Pro Logic II and it's gone weird once or twice; very distant sound, like in a tunnel and very quiet music. However no probs on my US copy. Also I wondered if it might just be my older PS2 playing up as it only seems to happen on that machine.
I have noticed errors on the US copy such as the name of Suzuka West. In the US version it does'nt say anything about the track, just some kind if gibberish! And on the brake bias screen (I think), some of the writing is hidden beneath the bars showing the brake bias. Not bugs just proof that the game was a little rushed (in the US at least).

Yep me too, the Yellowbird and BTR in my PAL version have no engine noise at all in the internal view which kills the car for me as I hate using the chase camera.

How could this have been missed??!

Same for me as well. The first time I done the game the BTR and Yellowbird were silent untill I looked behind. When I started GT4 again the noise was normal.

No, even if the engine was disposed under the car, with such a loud noise, u could easily hear it from 100 or 200 meters away, that´s not the problem.

The problem is that it´s just a bug, a big bug. A SHAME, being with such a special car, because, if it was in a MGF or another one less famous, that would be ok or almost that. But, in the YELLOW BIRD, it´s just disappointing from PD.

I can hear it fine. I used it in the Supercar Festival. No problem at all.

That's odd that some people are hearing it and others aren't.

Perhaps it has to do with the mods you have done to the car, perhaps a racing muffler changes it?

To the guy who restarted and got normal sound, did you change anything when you did that?

They could have done the surround sound better, but in theory, at least - it can be explained. That porsche as we all know has an engine in the rear, thus in theory the engine noise will come from the rear of the car - not the front. In a traditional 2 speaker setting, you're missing half the audio. If you hit L1 to look behind you the engine noise will be heard. In surround sound that noise will be coming out of the rear speakers, but I agree that they should have put a little bit more engine noise coming out of the front. Driving a real car like that wouldn't have sound that seperated - hearing a porsche roar at high speeds will fill the entire car with a LOT of noise.

Instead of optimizing the regular stereo sounds at all, they decided just to "chop" the surround sound in half and let the stereo speakers only play the front half of what you'd hear in surround sound. it's annoying I agree.

Nope, changed nothing at all. I don't fiddle with sound options.

i dunno if this is a bug, carelessness or intention
why is acura under japan?
yet lexus and infiniti are under usa
i know...
its parent company is honda but acura isn't sold in japan
its exclusively sold in north america and a small yet pathetic line up in HK

I tried posting this in another thread, but anyways here goes. All of my cars are gone except the F1 car that I was "in" and the car I won for a license. After I won the license car I went back to the garage I guess as a matter of habit and voila...no cars in the garage except these 2. That's about 40 cars gone, and some are not obtainable again. Status and cash is fine with no notes in the diary as to why all of my GT4 garage cars were "stolen". What to do now?

AAAHH!! Got this exact same problem! Lost 36 cars and now i'm left with 2 TVR Cebera's. I was sooo far as well. ****. Waht the hell is this about anyway! Sort it out Polophony Digital. Checked diary as well and no sign of my cars disappearing. Bit dodgy for a game like GT4 don't ya think?
