GT4 Bugs

the power difference has been said many many times as they're mainly due to difference between power rate by the manufacturer and the actual value the engine produces.. and then there's the replay power which is more like the actual power your wheels are getting...

i own a Holden Commodore SS and wish it did have 333kw.

While idk if this is GT4 fault or playsation...I just had to get a new copy of GT4 because the cd got scratched by the lens in the PS2. The cd had apperent PS2 made marks as it was perfectly round and went around the cd. This caused sometimes after a race the White Loading spinning thing to turn red forever and not load.

Also a little error is that the 3000gt's are all 4wd. The regular 3000gt SL's are front wheel drive and front engine even in Japan, im 99% sure. Only VR-4's are AWD. I should know as I drive a Dodge Stealth (same car, differnt body panels and badges). This dissipointed me...

3 weird things have happened to me lately:

First one, In the starting credits "All cars and their performance are not real.... and what not" and at the end it says "... and be a safe driver!" Well, mine said "...and be a safe driver?" With a question mark, wtf? Im 100 % sure, call me crazy but it happened.

Second one, I was doing my licences and the skyline (in that course next to the beach with small streets and lots of people) out of the blue just jumped! The left side of the car literally jumped like if it had hit a huge bump on the left side of the street. Weird.... lol.

Third, I took a car to get an oil change (used car) and the guy got underneath the car from the back of the car and then when it was done, it came out the other side. I dunno if its really a bug or not but I never saw that before.

Anyway, just wanted to vent out and laugh a little

Picked up an Australian version of GT4 yesterday, it is awesome, however i've picked up a what seems to be a small glitch. The kw rating of cars in showrooms etc. changes once bought and viewed in the garage.

First i purchased an '89 Skyline GTS with 150 odd kw and once in the garage, was showing approx 195kw.

I then purchased an SS Commodore which come with 245 kw and without mods, was showing 333 kw in the garage.

All i can think is that in the garage, the power is being displayed in ps or hp while indicating a kw rating.

Has anyone else noticed this?
I've noticed that with the VYII SS. I found it wierd to see a standard VYII SS with more power than the Callaway tweaked HSV GTS.

rb26cefiro, I saw a jitter at the very beginning of one of the licence tests, as the camera "circles" around the car. Can't remember what test it was, but it only happened for a split second. I've never experienced any jitters during racing, though.

Now for my glitch. I've completed 0.8% of the game. Now, the jukebox refuses to play any songs. When I press the play button, I can hear the unit searching for the track, but no sound. When I first played the game, I had a good look around at everything, & tried the jukebox & it worked initially, but now it seems it's busted. Anyone else with the Australian version experienced this problem?

Japanese hp to kW: 280/205

multiply this by 245 and you get approx 334hp.

the skyline one i can't say.. the formula comes out with around 205hp. It's still close, though.

Famine had a rant on this - it is the difference between the "published" HP and the "actual" HP of the car. Not really a bug, just the differences between the manufacturer specs and the actual HP on delivery. There may or may not be another bug in the PAL version of the game where the HP displayed at the beginning of a replay is different from the actual HP of the car.

I thought my copy was bug free but last night I found the first bug (and hopefully the last). In arcade mode, the VW Golf V GTI doesn't have 5th gear. It reaches 4th, then when shifting to fifth, the number on the dial changes but the revs continue as if I was in 4th. So as the sound of the engine. However, I can shift to 6th (does this car have 6 gears in r/l?) with no problem. But without 5th, you don't really want to shift to 6th...

Weird

3000GT's were only ever AWD as far as I am aware.

Nah, my buddy has a 3000gt base model and its defintly FF. And dont forget I know that the Turbo'd version WERE 4wd. Its the base models such as a SL and such that were not.

Still nobody, who is able to get out of any track ( > Gt2, Motorsportsland; GT3 in SS R 5 and Seattle) ?.... Sad... I always liked that..... :)

Hey people,
the Stealth/3000GT(GTO in Japan) came in 3 drivetrains:
NA RWD
NA AWD
Turbocharged AWD.

SL model is rear-driven, not front, or
SL model is AWD.

All turbos were indeed AWD.

For whatever reason, the oil change guy will wheel his creeper all the way from one end of the car out the other side any time he is working on an AWD car.

I'm sorry, but you are wrong. The 2wd versions are definitely FWD, not RWD. I know several people with the different versions, and have seen the drivetrain with my own eyes. The engine is a transverse layout, like a normal FWD car. They just add the transfer case, driveshaft, rear diff, and other pieces to make it AWD. Just like they did with the Eclipse/Talon/Laser.

Here's a new AI behavior bug to add:

I'm driving Nurburgring in the Formula GT series (B Spec), and the 6th place car is really lagging behind. I switch over to his view to see why. Well, it turns out that he is braking on all of the straightaways. As in, almost coming to a complete stop. Like he forgot where on the course he was. He's OK in the corners, but everytime he hits the straight, it's back to stop and go driving. He's not out of fuel, as the indication did not appear on the display, plus he can go over 80kph when he figures out where he is. His tires are fine, too, because he is on the same pit schedule as everyone else.

Anyway, my B Spec driver ended up coming around to lap him on the long straight before Tiergarten, and it made for a comical moment when he tried to draft this guy and he's only going 50kph when my driver is going over 300kph. There would have been nothing left of either of those cars in RL...

Has this been mentioned? If for the controller settings you put accelerate and brake on the left stick and steering on the right the right stick still has accelerate and brake configured. This means that when you turn you apply brakes and/or acceleration a little (or a lot). Now that is a big problem for some people!

YES>> THIS IS MY BIGGEST GRIPE WITH THE GAME... I use left stick for throttle/brake and right for steering.

The game is near worthless to me like this as I CANNOT play it any other way.

Apparently the mods didn't like this  , so I'll put it here. The Citroen 2CV with stg1 turbo, racing exhaust, port&polish, and balancing makes less power with the racing chip than without. In fact, the dyno curve is drastically changed when the chip is installed, with the chip eliminating almost all of the low end torque. With the chip, the engine will not rev above 1K without N2O. I have attached the two dyno charts: first without the chip and second with the chip (both have all other mods). In every other car I've seen the racing chip mod has no effect on the shape of the power/torque curves.

Also, the game allows you to install an intercooler on a naturally aspirated New Beetle RSi.

For some reason when I'm in car lots and viewing the cars, I don't see the information about the cars running across the bottom of the screen like in GT3. All that is shown to me is car specs like HP, drivetrain, etc. This is not a problem on my friend's GT4. Is there a way how this can be fixed? :indiff:

How do you get into the parts change/settings screen..... as shown above as the rubbishly thin PAL manual doesnt tell you anything!

Press start when you are at home or press the settings button in the screen before a race. The settings button looks like a toolbox. If you are wondering how to get the large dyno chart, you need to press start (IIRC).

edit: I have the NA version, PAL might be different

Has anyone encounted the same problem on GT3 Concept Cars..
When you get 100% and you get this little theater clip, at the end of it, the whole screen freezes and you cannot press any buttons, which means you have to restart your PS2 again.

Also..

On GT4 I went to the arcade mode and I was searching for vauxhall cars because I wanted to test out the vauxhall corsa, but they didn't have vauxhall cars on the list, is this a bug or do you have to complete a certain percentage to enable other cars to be chosen on arcade mode?

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but some races say "unmodified cars only" if you max out the car with NA components, it cant still enter the unmodified races... sort of explainable, but shudnt realyl work that way.

Not sure weather it's been meantioned but with one of the Skylines, R32 GT-r I think, if you put a sports exhaust on it and look behind the car when your driving, up to 6000rpm the car sounds like it's about to hit the rev limiter and after 6000rpm it sounds like it's around 5000rpm. Wierd.

Went through a few pages of this thread and found nothing regarding the use of B-Spec and the inability of the game to stay in x1,x2 or x3 speed for the length of the race...

Case in point...went to the 4hr. ring enduro and after a few laps, I pitted...Did the usual tire & gas refill but also put it into B-Spec mode so I could grab a bite to eat, however, upon my return about an hour & 1/2 later, I come back & turned on my TV and the race was in 'standard mode' (regular speed...or whatever you want to call it! LOL)

I thought maybe I didn't really put the race into X3 speed, so I did the usual button combo & got it there....then walked away, did a few things and came back and to my surprise, the game was back in standard mode/speed?

Are you not supposed to put the whole entire race into 'fast forward' mode or what? I read the manual, if you wanna call what comes w/the game a manual, and there wasn't really anything mentioned about it....

If anyone knows of a thread where this is explained, please let me know!

Thanks!

HAHAHA, look what i found on an AI car racing in one of the American series races. This is really strange. It seems either he set the camber to the max, or his rear suspention is totally broken. Yet the car race perfectly fine and finished in third in the race.

The jittering is not a bug at all. Not in the traditional sense anyway. It's an interlacing problem likely caused by some graphical filter or another applied at the beginning of the race to make the game look better. It only lasts a few seconds, you guys are overreacting BIG TIME.

As for the people with empty garages, are you sure you don't have your garages filtered by manufacturer? In that case, it would only show cars made by a particular manufacturer. If you filtered it by a manufacturer that you didn't own any cars of, it would appear as if your garage was empty.
