GT4 Bugs

Do you know what the first production car to go around the Nordschleife in less than 8 minutes was? A Nissan Skyline GT-R R33 V-Spec. :cool:
That was as much tires as anything else. The '94 V-Spec II R32 was lighter with the exact same components.

Cheers

It has probably already been noticed, but in the PAL version you can't use the Vauxhall Astra/Calibra touring cars in the DTM cup (despite the fact they are exactly the same as the Opel counterparts)

If Vauxhall competes in the real DTM, then that's a bug, else it's a feature.

I searched the thread, and I was surprised no one noticed there is a bug with the shadows on the Lancia Stratos (both road and rally car). I suspect these aren't the only cars with that bug, but it certainly bothers me the bug is in those two cars; it's the only reason I don't want to drive them. :grumpy:

What's the bug? I can't remember which memory card of mine has a Stratos on it.

(probably already been bought up!)The lotus classics race screen(which shows the races/tracks) Shows a picture of VW Golf GTi MK 1's

The shadow of the car is placed incorrectly: depending on which direction the car is facing, some of its wheels won't have any shadow below or close to them.

Sure beats the NTSC-J version where you get your @ss whopped by a CLK-GTR 9/10 of the times you race the DTM

The MazdaSpeed 6 has no wheel drive according to Gt4. I can't enter it in most of the beginner races.

My dad owns a white Mazdaspeed 6 in real life. Not the most reliable machine(recently he had to replace the transmission), but then again he does do a heck of a lot of driving.

Have you ever tried this bug in GT3?

Start a two player game. drive one car in to a wall and hold down the accelerator so that the car is pushing against the wall. If you now push left or right on the other controller, the stationary car will start spinning on the spot!!!!

Been there...done that the only thing with mine is that weather your in 2 player or not when ever I stop staitoinary and then revers about 10 meters and stop again, when i turn left or right on the spot MY car spins realy realy fast :scared:

I'm not too sure if this is a bug or not, but with my fully tuned Honda Element,(don't ask) whenever I stop completely and hold the brakes in sandy parts of some tracks, the front wheels continue to accelerate slowly.

Is this because in real life the car is automatic?

Vauxhall = Opel. The only reason they are dubbed Opel in the real DTM is because Opel is German.

The Vauxhall touring cars i mentioned are exactly the same in every respect, specs and appearence, except for any Opel references changed to Vauxhall. They can't be BTCC cars (where Vauxhall competes or competed) because the cars in that series are limited to 2 litre. They were not used for the WTCC or the ETCC either. They are DTM cars under the Vauxhall name instead of Opel (To cater for UK players i presume) and it doesn't allow their entry. We still get the Opel versions too, so at least i get to sell the Vauxhall for the Opel.

It just seems odd.

I'm very pleased they fixed that. The DTM is one of my favourite series because its one of the most even. The JGTC/SuperGT is unbalanced because of the different classes so you have to hunt for lineups :indiff:

Its also interesting how JGTC is an open competition but DTM is closed to a select few cars. I was disappointed when i couldn't enter my BMW 320i, Mazda 6 touring car or FTO super touring car :( (sure for the sake of balance the AI should pick from a set list of balanced vehicles, but what if i want a challenge?)

Are you sure about that? In my copy of the game I have;

Opel Calibra Touring Car -- weighing 1040kg - produces 414bhp @ 10500rpm.
Vauxhall Calibra Super Touring Car - 1060kg - produces 449bhp @ 11500rpm.
Clearly not the same.

The Astras however do have identical specs and performance.

Just found out something.At the back of the capri track(The mountainous part),there's a group of spectators that disappear should you switch to your camera in photo drive.

You cannot start a single race in Cote d' Azur/Monaco, in Arcade. Hownever you can do that in GT/Simulation mode.

This is kinda like the time I recently photomoded the plane that flies in the sky at Tahiti Maze (look upwards when you're in hairpin # 2...going uphill in Normal direction).

First shot: the plane is in the sky and shows up in the picture.

2nd shot: the plane is still in the sky, yet will not show up in the picture.

:confused:

Dude, I gotta ask! :lol:

I'm assuming you're talking of the e-brake? Or regular brakes?

I don't know if someone bring that already but anyway.

It seems like in every race I've encountered the shelby series 1, it had a lot of camber on the rear wheels. :lol: I don't think it's normal.

I found a new one today, screwing around while I was waiting for dinner to cook: under certain circumstances, you can actually drive through other cars.

Go to High Speed Ring, and choose the normal layout. Make sure the laps are high enough 1) to require pit stops and 2) that you can lap the opposition. It takes a little bit of timing (I used an Audi R8 with super-hard tyres while everyone else was on softs), but when the opposition pits, dive into the pit lane. Don't take the actual pit entry, but go hard left after the final bend instead - all that divides the pit lane from the actual circuit is a set of witches' hats. You'll skip the invisible line that triggers the computer to take control of the car and engage the speed limiter, so you'll be able to take pit lane flat out.

Now, to drive through the cars, you have to get them when they're in the pit lane. They're very solid when they're in the actual lane, but as soon as they turn into their bay, they become intangible, so you won't be able to punt them out of the way and prevent a pit-in. It's difficult to pull it off, and it doesn't really do anything or make for a more spectacular moment, but it can be done. And it's always cool when you set your fastest lap when you drive through the pits.

Yesterday I noticed a bug in the Opel Speedster. The Turbo version featured in the game was "released" in 2000, and weights slightly over 1000kg. The real Speedster Turbo was released on 2003, and weights only 930kg. I don't really care about the year. But the weight? To me, the most important thing in this car is that it is lightweight.

There's a lot of vehicles in GT4 where the weight is drastically off.

Some examples...

'69 Camaro Z/28: 3,119 pounds in GT4
```````````````real-life estimates range from 3,500 to 3,750 pounds
Oddly, GT2's weight of 3,395 pounds is closer to real-life. Probably represents the Z/28's weight without a full gas tank.
Chrysler PT Cruiser: 2,799 pounds in both GT3 and GT4
````````````````real-life: 3,125 pounds

Nissan 350Z: 2,909 pounds for the coupe in GT4
````````````real-life estimates range from 3,150 to 3,350.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head.
Greycap always makes sure to highlight the erroneous weight of the Volvo GLT Estate, which is several hundred kilograms too heavy in the game. That's something of an anomaly, because as you indicate, Parnelli, most incorrect weights are too light. I've actually always wondered what the weight values in GT4 really measure, because my impression is that they are consistently too low, perhaps by a fairly consistent percentage; maybe they assume no driver and an empty fuel tank?
Forgot all about the Volvo. Perfect example!
I've compared hundreds of real-life weights with the cars in GT2, 3, and 4 over the years. Sometimes, they're dead-on. Saleen S7 is a good example. Stock game weight is 2,755 pounds, real-life is 2,756 according to various websites. I'd say PD actually gets it right most of time, or at least in the ballpark. But other times, weight is way off.
If it were 100-200 pounds give or take, I could see that, because this could represent the difference between dry weight and curb weight, basically the weight of the car when fuel and other fluids are absent versus when they are full. The Chrysler PT Cruiser has a 15-gallon gas tank, for instance. A gallon weighs about 8.35 pounds. So 15 x 8.35 = about 126 pounds. There's about 2 or 3 gallons of antifreeze, so that's another 16 to 25 pounds. Brake fluid & power steering fluid accounts for another 5 pounds, but that's a guess. So 145-154 pounds plus or minus could be acceptable for the PT Cruiser.
But when weight is off by 300 pounds, 400, 500, or MORE! That just seems like either lazy research on PD"s part, since this info is so readily available, or it could have been the manufacturer itself giving PD false information.
I've never noticed these! Probably because i use Kilograms but still... :boggled:
Just figured out how to drive the black Fgt in arcade mode.
1. Put the Fgt and the Plymouth superbird in the favorites section.
2. Go to favorites and place the cursor on the superbird.
3. Extremely quickly place the cursor on the Fgt and choose it. You should see the Superbirds color choices in the Fgt. Now just go all the way left until you see the black Fgt.
