I got the corrupted data message last week at aroung 50%. Since then i havent played gt4 but now i have two memory cards. I would like to know what caused and can cause for the file to become corrupt and how i can avoid it. If theres nothing i can do to stop it from corrputing again I guess I just wont play gt4 anymore.

could someone answer my question before I restart?

I've had all four main Gran Turismo's corrupt on me, only Concept hasn't. :(

GT3 was the worst, corrupted on saving immediately after I'd just won my first F1 car.

is it so dam hard to answer? Im not gonna go search.

If you want to know EVERTHING, I suggest you search and read everything in the first post

If your to lazy to search, thats ok,Iguess you like to get flamed then...

I must say, it has happened to me. Went down from 97% to 0. *cries* ah man. What a year last year, I'm back up to ~30% took me about a year to get back up to 30. I can't stand the fact that I've already done almost all of it.

I got lucky. There was a problematic circuit in my house that kept shutting off in the middle of the day (only when it got really hot). I'd turn it back on and 30-120 minutes later, it would shut off again. Now, of course my PS2 and TV happened to be connected to this circuit (and almost nothing else was; it wasn't under a heavy load or anything). I guess I was desperate to play GT4, so I just played and hoped the power wouldn't cut out during the autosave.

It never did. Lucky me. I moved my TV and PS2 shortly after.

I have lost game saves twice now. First time I have no clue how it happened, I let the game save, then turned off my PS2, came back, game was corrupt. Second time my whole memory card was erased after the PS2 fell (if the PS2 memory card takes shock, it erases it's self). Yes, I am using a Sony black memory card, the only ones that actually should be used.

This time around, I made a back up of all my games using Code Breaker, and I stored them on my PC. I also constantly update those saves when I hit a "milestone".

After 3 days of GT4 (12th of march 2005) ..and 20 gold medals in licence...
i've lost my GT4 Data .... :grumpy:

So i re-started GT4 from zero and i made the golds in sequence ..gold by gold

I never thought I'd be joining this club. Also, I've come across a method of corrupting data that I didn't see mentioned yet in this thread.

I was in my blue Lancia Stratos. I wanted it stock again, so I put my card in Slot 2 then clicked Trade. I bought it from myself. Fine, nothing happened. But then, I sold the one I was just in. Afterwards, I got into the one I just bought from myself. When I clicked Get In, this notice popped up that said something like "The status of your garage (or car was it?) has changed. Are you sure you want to save?" I clicked OK, naturally. I wasn't sure though that it was a good idea to, and I almost didn't. But then I said "Whatever" and clicked OK. It began saving, then the game froze. I reset it, and when it would 'attempt' to auto-load my data, it once again froze. This only affected my main save and nothing else on my card, luckily.

But oh well, I'm much better at GT4 now than when I first started. I can start fresh in my quest to max out Bob's points, have a better win ratio (although I've actually destroyed it by trying to win high A-spec pt. races in the Sunday Cup, my first and only completed race.). I've done all the missions already, up to 23. And have 12 S-License tests to complete ("complete" = gold, for me). So I'm basically just looking at this as a way to get a good start, and to marvel at how easy this stuff is now that I've had enough experience in GT4 (I was 90% when my data was corrupted a few days ago).

edit: BTW, this might be a dumb question...but how do you link a club you're in into your sig? With words instead of the URL I mean.

My data became corrupt not long ago...I'm at 17.4% now I think. Hopefully it won't have a glitch again where i beat all the races in Beginner and Proffessional cups, but it says I can't compete in the GT4 World Championship.:grumpy:

You can also buy a Codebreaker or Action Replay Max, they both have a feature that allows you to save and upload your game saves to your computer. I use a codebreaker and it works flawlessly.

I find $19.99 to be a bit cheaper than $49.99.. lol.

That's not a glitch. That's where you haven't "beat" all the races in Beginner and Professional Halls.

Nope.

The MOST common problem reported, and it has a 100% cure rate by the simple fix of checking.

What's most commonly missed is a Championship race - people do the individual race events, but miss doing a Championship one (where you do the races back-to-back for points - highest points scorer at the end wins).

Search our site - you'd be amazed by the number of times people ask this, only to respond a few days later that they actually did miss a race all along, and it's all peachy now.

*takes an inhale of breath*

STUPID EFFING PIECE OF CRAP DATA FILE!?!

Yes...after 100%, all gold licences and all cars, 302.2mph record, all Missions and about half of the cars having all upgrades and such bought for them (that's a lot of spent cash).. and half way through a full test of all cars and databasing times etc...it finally happened...

Thankfully I have a back up which was done after said stats (well before the upgrading and databasing)...so really I don't know what I was so p***ed off about...lol but hey it happens so I'm in the club right?
