Sometimes you can clean a scratch by taking layers off at a video store (cleaning it) but if the scratch is too deep you'll probably need a new disc.

Just a quick, kinda newbie-ish question: How can I change my member status from "Junior member"? Do I need to post a lot, or is it linked to my actual age?

So I just like others have a question but would rather not start a new thread. Do you think that PD has modelled Track Grip Levels for different tracks, and different parts of the track? I notice when racing with a car that's always on the verge of wheelspin, the wheels are more likely to spin when you wander off the darkened with rubber racing line then they are on that racing line. I wondered if that because of that rubber there they have modelled a higher level of grip for that part of the track? And then there's the difference between tracks. I know that a bumpy track will cause traction loss for fairly obvious reasons, but some tracks when compared to each other seem to offer different levels of grip because of different road surfaces. Take New York and Grand Valley Speedway. New York is just standard street bitumen as opposed to GVS's race track bitumen and as such New York seems to offer less grip than GVS. What do you guys think, has PD modelled different track grip levels?

So nobody has discussed this yet, come on.

Best way to test it is some controlled tests. But it wouldn't suprise me if it turned out to be true. I'd put my money on it being true, anyway.

Would this mean Fuji 2005 has more or than Fuji 80s/90s? Its brand new tarmac afterall.

Do some 0-60 tests in a car that you can do consistantly get the same time in on each track, that might shine some light on the situation. So if you can do a 0-60 time of 5.4 in a Skyline on GVS, and a time of 5.6 on New York, theres definately some grip differences.

A Skyline probably has 100% grip all the time on most tracks anyway. If I get some time and remember I'll try 0-100km/hr in a Commodore (with traction control to avoid driver error) on GVS then New York, then on rubber racing line vs off it or something.

I've been thinking about this for a while.. You know how every now and then newbies post a bunch of their own not-so-important threads just because they're trying to get into the community?
We really should have some kind of chat application here in GTplanet. For newbies at least so they could chat out their exciteness (sp?) they're getting for logging in here for the first time :)

--
When new people join here they aren't usually searching for some specific information, all they want is to have someone to chat with about these games.
Of course you can close their threads every time but what does it accomplish? No one wins and all those more important threads just get buried beneath those new threads. And we all know how rubbish the search function can be sometimes.

Just giving my two cents..

Ok..... I have a problem.

Nevermind the fact I've lost my edge at rally racing, or that I wasn't good at it to begin with, or that I've only one person in my location on the globe to play GT4 with and that he'll only play me at rallies.

Nevermind the fact he'll only ever use a 814 HP Skyline to race me with in off road courses, that he makes up for running into every corner by never letting go of X, and that he rams me off the road at every given opportunity. Or that I've yet to beat him trying to apply actual skill and superior handling cars more suited to dirt courses and that I've now been forced to purchase an Escudo for our next encounter to terrorize him at his own game with and finally put him in his place

Nevermind the fact he's intolerable to be around, using a vocabulary consisting of the B & N words and a spanish insult I'm fairly sure translates to castrated animal in reference to everyone and the six letter F word to me, that he has some of the most poorly done ink on him I've ever seen, makes ungodly tire screeching noises with his mouth when he's not using it to whistle poorly or call up a couple dozen women he thinks he can get lucky with.

Matter of fact: Nevermind that he thinks Skylines are FRs, RUFs FFs and RX-7's 4WD, or that I have to keep telling him how to navigate the various menus, he won't listen, does something stupid and blames me for it, or that he shoots me, my cars, and my superior knowledge down at every given opportunity and truly thinks he's just plain better than me.

What's driving me just absolutely insane the most is, he refers to offroad racing as drifting, thinks rally and drifting mean the same thing, and that what he does on dirt roads isn't just akin to drifting, but actually is drifting, when the term drifting only applies to tossing a car with extreme oversteer around on PAVEMENT and NOT DIRT NOR SNOW.

So here's what I need you guys to do:

I need someone to tell me that Drifting =/= Rally. I really, really need someone to say drifting isn't rally. That rally existed before Drifting, and that this high school drop out of a 17 year old is very, very, highly mistaken.

D:

Will that do? :P

Just show him Google and Wikipedia, they'll back you up on the matter. 👍

Oh, and there are FR Skylines, although theres more 4WD ones in GT4. FF RUFs though? Maybe when they are in reverse sure.

From whats been said, I doubt he can read the web page, and therefore will think you are lying, and will then proceed to yell at you again.

Have you tried beating the crap out of this guy yet? When you get PS3 tell him to get lost and play online GT5 races.

i know, but i don´t realy understand it....................i think i´m a noob in these things

Then you need to browse that forum, find a member who seems to be experienced with your particular device and PM them for simple steps.

The Spoon S2000 is quoted by GT4 to have peak power at 11000rpm, or somewhere near there. Yet the car revs just past 9,000rpm! I've tried NA tuning Stage 3 to raise the revs, but no 11000rpm.

Anyone know if theres a way to unlock the hidden 2,000rpm or so? It bugs me to drive a car that isnt giving me its full power even when I'm smashing it off the revlimiter. :(

I searched but found nothing on the subject, but I dont think a new topic is neccessary, so I post here.

Chalk it up to "Whoops". There's one or two of them.

Also, usually the ECU upgrade changes the rev limit.

Thing is, its supposed to rev to 11000rpm standard. Thats some whoops, a whoops that puts the rev limiter 2,000rpm lower than it should. 👎:(

*shrug* It happens.

What does the first screen when GT4 loads up actually say?

Does it say 11 000rpm on the dyno chart as well or just in your garage? I've learnt that what it says in the garage (mainly on tuned cars) is barely ever right.

The big block of text that says cars may not appear as they do in real life, driving displayed in the game may not represent real life, yadda yadda. :)

From the Spoon showroom it says:

Power 310BHP / 11000rpm
Torque 155.05ft.lb / 9600rpm

In my garage when its tuned it says:

Power 370BHP / 11000rpm
Torque 205.85ft.lb / 9600rpm

But the power and torque curve look like this:

Showroom power.

With NA Stage 3. (the only power upgrade it can get)

Yes thats a Ghia badge stuck to my TV.

 That's funny, right off the dyno graph- so classic.

Madd VTAK in effect. :dunce:👍

Perhaps the 9300rpm limiter is for safety.

I guess it is just a major goof up. Someone in PD probably mistook the Spoon S2000 for some other S2000 and inputted the wrong limiter.

Thanks anyway, at least if someone else asks the same question theres an answer to it. 👍
