Ok, I'm probably going to sound like a total n00b saying this, but I can't get GT4 to work on the PS3, at all.
When I put it in it just says its not compatible or something, is there an option I need to change on the system to allow PS2 games? Not sure if it matters but they're both PAL.

Thanks

The 60GB PS3 is the only 1 that can play PS2 games, and there have been numerous reports of it not being able to play some PS2 games (like GT4) with the updates.

Unlike most people, I like body roll. In fact I love body roll. I like to feel seasick in a car. It feels fast.

Which stock cars have the most body roll?

So far the best I have found are:
1. Dodge Charger R/T
2. Nissan Silvia (CSP311) '65.

I believe the Volvo Estate rolls a lot, but I don't like Estates. Does anyone know of a better one?

The "new" VW Beetle has horrendous forward roll under harsh braking

I'll try it, but it's really lateral roll I'm interested in. When I take a corner, I like the car to be leaning at an angle of 45 degrees. Perhaps I'm exaggerating slightly, but you know what I mean.

I dont know where to put this, so i'll just chuck it here. Is there any large differences between the PAL and NTSC versions of the game? I can't trust what's floating around. Any answer would be appreciated!

A few cars and a couple of specifications (variation in cars for the NTSC-J version, variation in time required) for licence tests. One or two prize cars - though these are the same for NTSC-U/C and PAL.

I couldn't find this, it's a basic question, and I didn't think it deserved its own thread.

Something I've been wondering about (keep in mind I haven't ever driven a car in a full-throttle situation)... Say you take a car in GT4 that in real life has an automatic transmission, like say the Honda Odyssey, and set the game's transmission mode to "automatic". Now, if you take it full throttle acceleration as you tend to do in-game, will the car shift like it does in real life? That is, does the real thing shift right at the redline like the game car does if you put it at wide open throttle?

I mean, I already know that setting the transmission to automatic only means it shifts for you and doesn't act totally like an actual automatic would, e.g. the car not moving forward on a flat surface with no brake or throttle input (with the exception of cars like the Honda Fit with a CVT). But I don't know if the game would replicate that particular aspect of automatic transmissions.

It doesn't. Not all real-life ATs shift at redline unless you manually row them through the gates. The in-game AT always shifts at redline, for better or for worse.

me and a mate were planning a 24 hour race we were thinking of getting 2 plasma tvs with a ps2 console connected to each, could we do a 24 hour race via a lan network, or is there another to have a multiplayer 24 hour race??

There is no way to have a multiplayer 24hr race. LAN mode is limited to 50 laps (so you can go for 24hr, but only if you have turgidly slow cars).

The best way, if it can be called such, is to enter a conventional 24hr race and take it in turns to do the driving.

Hi. How do you take those Hi-Res pictures? I take pictures with the camera off my phone and it looks quite good but definatly not as good as the ones I have seen on the WRS 161 Thread.

Cheers,
Paul

You take a shot in photodrive, and then save it to a USB flashdrive, then take that, and plug it into your comp. and viola, High-res picture.

How often should I pit in the Grand Valley Endurance race? I tried pitting at lap 14 but then everybody blew past me and they were ahead for another 7 laps. I use an Opera Performance S2000 with super-hard tires.

I feel a little silly asking this question as it probably was answered thousand times but still couln't find it...
is it possible to copy replay files to a usb hard disc\pendrive and view replays from usb?

Nope. You can:

A) Using a MaxDrive/ARMax, you can copy the replay on a USB player, and transfer it around - but, it's a data-file sized 100kb at worst, not video, so you can't watch it.

B) Tape it up using various methods, and save that video on a USB. No other options.

Maybe they'll fix that for GT5.

The Mitsubishi Pajero Rally Raid Car '88 has alot of roll, every direction, its got it.
Just slap every performance part on, and put the suspension on, and be ready to feel alot of roll.

Like this!

Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R (KPGC110) '73

Not convinced? Take a look at some of the pictures in the reports here (stock suspension) and tell me that's not what you're after!

All your answers for this are in this thread:

On another note, this is your first post so it'll slide, but in future please post according to the rules set out in our Acceptable Use Policy, specifically this part:

Thanks, and enjoy your time here at GT Planet.

Sorry i guess i should have read that really before I made any posts (i cant make any promises about my spelling though), thanyou for the link!

Pah. It looks like my only remaining controller is pretty ronnied. Every car I drive is pulling to the right in-game, but oddly enough I've not had any problem with any of the menu screens.

Unlike as was the case with my other controller that went kaput on this game two or three days earlier...

I think they should put more super cars in there, like lambos, ferraris, ACTUAL PORSCHES, and especially the Koenisseg CCX. Realistic damage, body mods, and other stuffs would make the game sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better.

This thread is for GT4, i think you are referring to GT5.

i have a quick but dumb question, how do you find out the hp of the ai in a race? I remember reading a race report and the guy that wrote it also had the hp numbers for the whole field. And they werent stock

If you race in arcade mode, it shows the HP of the AI before you start. In GT mode, you'd just have to find out for yourself what the HP is with the other cars... it usually doesn't say.
