Roughly, what is the minimum number of miles you'd have to drive to get a 100% completion in GT4?

Varies for many people. Seeing that I am not too good at the game, I have had to repeat some endurance races multiple times. So there is no set in stone number.

However, it is completely possible to drive something over 10,000 miles,(What I had with my 86% game save) before you do the endurance races.

Is your question A-spec miles, B-spec miles or the total of both?

The lowest total miles driven that I've seen for a 100% game completion was by jbrennen who's game showed a total of 19,923 miles:

It may be possible to go slightly lower, but I doubt by much.

I'm thinking he means A-spec, because he's asking how much he has to drive? Not how much the computer is. ;)

If that's the case then the answer would be somewhere around 702 miles, but that wouldn't include the driving missions or licenses.

Where did you pull that number from. As this would not include any of the enduro's or probably 90% of the game.

My source for the 702 miles is the screenshot of jbrennen's Glorious First of June game (774 gamedays) linked to by GTsail290 above. His A-Spec mileage was 702 miles while his B-Spec mileage was 19,221.

Despite owning it since UK launch day and having a love-hate relationship with the game, I've just let Bob win the Nurb 24 hours for me and I got the yellow/black FGT, which is a great colour.

I think my analogue being very loose makes the game much harder to control than it should be, however.

Ah. Well I have two contrasting replies. I could do with one more user's answer to actually give me an answer. I am, however, leaning towards getting a slim one, as it is newer. Although I'll get no disc drawer. :(

I own both versions and I can't get GT4 to boot on the slim. The fat refurb turned out to be a really good deal - a firewire-enabled GT3 edition for $30 :)

You probably didn't do Driving Mission 1 first. That's why.

Licences have nothing to do with your % complete.

Driving Mission bug will give you 99.8%

to only have 99.1% you are missing about 5 events
Check your Diary to make sure you have golded every event and championship.
* One mistake people find is they may have won the championship but did not gold an event during the championship.
* Another mistake is doing a championship event as single events, thus not doing the championship.
* Also Bronze trophies do look a little like gold sometimes.

good luck finding your missing %

i had that suspicion with the championships myself, i tried to fix it by doing it as a single race and then raced the whole championship, but the percentage stayed the same.
checking my diary won't help, as it only goes back 8 years and i'm at year 20 and in year 12 of the game i already had 93.sth %...

so, whats gameshark? and where can i read about that driving mission bug?

Given that you're about 5 events short I'd wonder if you missed an entire obscure manufacturers' race series, such as the Saleen or Shelby series. I'd grab a copy of the race list and check them all off, particularly the 33 championship events.

The so-called driving mission one bug has been mentioned several times in various threads; I'd suggest doing a search. Incidentally I've tried to replicate this bug a number of times and have never been able to do so; I wonder if it's PAL-specific or something like that, or even if it really exists at all.

Gameshark is basically a savegame editor. There is/was also something called Action Replay Max, or ARMAX, that did the same thing. ARMAX also allowed you to make backups of gamesaves by copying them to USB, which to me was its real value. I don't know if Gameshark has the backup facility as well.

Anyhow, good luck on your search for the missing events.

Yes, gamesharks can copy saves from memory card to usb, where they can be emailed to people and stuff.

Does anyone know if there is a list of the 240 cars (that's how many it says on my system) that are available in arcade mode when you first begin the game?

I've had a quick look around for this info on this and didn't have any luck.

I don't recall ever seeing such a list but it shouldn't be difficult to find out. Just remove your memory card (or insert one that doesn't have a GT4 gamesave on it) and start the game up.

Hello all,
I'm a long time gamer, but new to file via internet to USB to PS. I guess first I should say.I playing on PS2.I was reading about the Saves Sharing. I am thinking it should be about the same as PS3 (somewhat)..Question is... (sorry for asking) I just save to computer...Move/Copy to a USB device....then plug into my PS2....now this where I get lost...Will the PS2 see the USB & file...if so..will it pop up the file and ask if I want to save it, or do I have to do something funky? Or am I screwed?

Thanks for ANY HELP anybody can give me,

Spaulding

Yeah I did that, so I can figure out which cars are there at the start, I just wondered if there was a list to save the hastle. Apparently there never was so I might make it myself, cheers.

EDIT: List now made

I don’t know if anyone’s played the game this way before, but I always wondered how far one could progress through the game without spending any credits. It’s possible to find out hypothetically, but in practice the result would probably be different. I only had one rule to follow NO SPENDING CREDITS. No purchasing cars, no tuning, no new tires, except for road tires which cost nothing. This turned out to be helpful a few times. Some of the races couldn’t be won without using shortcuts while others had to be raced dirty. If nothing else, it’s a good start to a perfect game. Without going into great detail, here are my findings.

1 of 5 American Makers Events 4 days 1 car
25% Completion 1 day 1 car

Totals 47% Completion 443 days 90 cars

When looked at theoretically, the differences are in the European Events, and Manufacturers’ Events.

25% & 50% Completion 2 days 2 cars

Totals about 54.5% 490 days 99 cars

Events that I couldn’t win but could be won theoretically are these ones:
1. Vette! Vette! Vette! The ’54 can’t keep up.
2. Tous France Championnat The A310 is way underpowered.
3. Euro Hot Hatch League The Lupo’s slow.
4. Schwarzwald Liga A The Lupo’s slow again.
5. Renault Alpine Cup I can’t handle the A310.
6. Lupo Cup Sport tires v. Race tires
7. 2HP-2CV Can’t win the French Championship.
8. “M” Club Can’t win the Schwarzwald Liga A.

I took this minimalist approach one step further by asking “what single purchase would most affect overall game completion percentage.” The answer was obvious – a sport truck. Notable additions are in the 3 levels of experience events. The updated hypothetical results look like this.

The 2nd most important purchase would be a set of dirt tires. Updates:

I’m astounded that half the game can be completed without purchasing a thing. Just one purchase increases the completion to 2/3. And two more after that brings it up to ¾ complete. Amazing. :D

Those would be the threads I've been searching for. I should have searched Scrooge, seeing how I was going to use him as the source for the frugality. Now that I have nothing to do, I think I'll play through once more and see if my hypothesis will hold up. Since off track and dirty racing is frowned upon, I'll try to adhere to the OLR rules. I might as well shoot for entrance into the June 1st society, but with the added constraint of having max credits in the bank at the end. Planning will be crucial...
And it's time to start planning!
