While attempting the Nurburgring Nordschleife 24hr endurance race something unusual happened during a pit stop which I have since never seen happen. I was driving the Mercedes-Benz AMG CLK-GTR and was approaching the 18th hour of the race. I was in B-spec mode at this point in the race and slowly preparing to take over from Bob as I had just finished with breakfast and, with a fresh cup of coffee in hand, sat down in time to observe the Mercedes pitting and being worked on by the crew.

Suddenly, the front of the car was hoisted up in the air so that it seemed to stand on its rear. I promptly blew out a mouthful of coffee in disbelief as I thought my Merc was somehow done for the day. Instead I pressed the 'x' button on the steering wheel which caused the car to slam down onto the pit area ….. and then, off it went. I was stunned and then relieved as I eventually finished the day victorious. But, I can only guess that this was an oil change being performed. But I'm not sure. Has anyone else ever seen something like this?

Thanks!

I have two short questions, I hope someone can help me! :scared:

I am currently driving the SartheII enduro with my Toyota 88C-V Minolta.
Rear tires: Extra Hard , Front tires: hard
After 5 rounds of A-Spec my rear tires starting to lose some grip and turning yellow but I could easily drive another round at full speed; but I have to go to the pits cause I run out of gas very quickly. Last time I had only 3 litres left! :nervous: My B-Spec Bob can do 6 rounds at speed 4 or 7 rounds with speed 3. But he uses the gas much more efficent and he has still 10 litres left after 7 rounds. What am I doing false? If I could save a few litres I could do another lap....

And second question; I f you compare the Toyota 88c-v with the Nissan R92CPthe Toyota feels like it has much more downforce, the cornering speed is much higher with it than with the Nissan R92.(Even with same downforce setting) I tried to stiffen the springs and spring travel but It still feels like it has much less downforce than the minolta. :dunce:

ddenly, the front of the car was hoisted up in the air so that it seemed to stand on its rear

I guess its front tires were worn out and so the pit crew only changed the front tires. No need to lift the back of the car to change the rear tires.

Try it yourself, you can make the crew only change the front tires.

orked on by the crew.

This has happened to me too. It's some kind of glitch.

The only advice I can give you is to use another car.
But if you want the Minolta I suggest super hard/super hard for a-spec and super hard/ hard (rear/front) for b-spec. Another hint for the 24h is to race in a-spec for a few laps till a pit stop is required and then change to b-spec. I say this because when starting in b-spec the driver takes a long time to get to the first place, while the first drivers are getting away. :dopey:

Another solution: Complete it using a-spec. I'm on the good way to reach it - 16 hours left ^^
I'm using Polyphony FGT (sic), pit every 5 laps, lap times 3:00 - 3:10, best lap 2:53 (with cheating ;/)
Why? I don't trust my Bob - I don't want to wake up few laps behind the leader after going sleep with 1 lap lead ;O

Thanks for the hint, I am currently the first, 1 round faster than the 787B at 7.5 hours. I made the first twelve laps to make a nice lead for Bob.
But Bob does stupid thing like ramming the side walls at the mulsanne straight with 340 km/h, like the Sauber C9. :dunce:
I hope he will still be leading until tomorrow.:nervous:

BTW, I changed the setting that the Minolta makes about 400 km/h at the straight, but B-Spec Bob only does around 340 kmh. What the heck? :dunce:

Bob's much more safety-minded. Also if you keep it on 3, he might run the tires down faster but the speed might jump a bit too (if you haven't already.)

Note how I did not say Bob is smarter. :)

Also, the AI does not run at full throttle, ever. I've accelerated out of corners with an exact same car as the ai in perfect rev-harmony with the bot and I shift out of that gear sooner.

Yeah, bob is not too bright, but given a decent ride, he can be very useful.

BTW, I'm currently doing the 'Ring 24 hr. in my 190 evo touring car. Anybody know what a good lap time in this would be, no mods or changed settings except racing superhards? I'm getting about seven minutes, maybe a bit more consistently.

my best lap was lap three or five or six, probably. That was a 6'56"905. I'm on lap 24 right now. I'm also running a four-lap pit strategy, which is working out rather wierd.

The Evo has about 385 hp, so I would expect lap times to be a bit slower than the CLK DTM, A4, Astra and Calibras. I am running a little faster than the chaparral driven by AI.

The 24hours on SartheII has some shocking moments, I am at 23 hours and the 787B keeps going and going doing 3:14 rounds. I tried to make some decent rounds to make up some time Bob wasted (he only does 3:22) but I cannot hold the car at all. Is it chassis wear? Whenever I hit a buckle at the straight hell breaks loose and I end up crashing down at mulsanne straight like Jo Gartner did with his Porsche 962. I just hit everything.

Its no fun to crash into the walls with 395 kp/h, I overtook the Jaguar XJR-9 spinning down the mulsanne straight right into the sand pit.:dunce:

You probably have chassis issues. I am pretty sure that most cars are at least stable enough to hold a straight line on the Mulsanne. Does it handle fine for the rest of the lap?

No, it was also impossible to hold the car while breaking, even with breaking in a straight line I could not control it.
The slower corners were ok (2nd and 3rd gear) but corners which required 4th gear or higher were very dangerous. I got 3:05 and 3:02 the first 5 laps after the beginning of the race, but after 20 hours of B-Spec the handling was so bad I wasnt able to get much faster than 3:20 without wiping out at esses after the dunlop curve or Ford chicane .:grumpy:
After fast changes of the driving direction (esses) the car was impossible to hold in a straight line. :scared:

It almost felt like toe setting increased to 4 at front and -4 at the back of the car. But I am sure the setings were +1 front and +0 rear with medium downforce (30/60.)

BTW, I won the race with a 2 minutes lead.:sly:

Greetings All!!! Ive just joined the forum after lurking for about a year!!! Ive completed 45.5% of the game and Ive noticed something very strange.Yesterday I built a 1997 Supra RZ with 834HP...the fastest machine Ive built since playing this game.I ran a Track meet with a time of 54.983 secs on Tsukuba...my personal best thus far.I select "replay" and all goes well for the first lap then on the second lap the car suddenly runs off the road and slams into a wall. Then the car repeatedly backs up and slams into the wall by itself!!!! I mean this is a replay!!!!! Can anyone explain what is happening??? Its really annoying!!!!

I had the same problem with my tuned NSX at tsukuba and at the highspeed circuit. I guess that was the first sign of corrupted data. After some time I got the ''red clock'' loading screen and after that my data corrupted.
I had to start a entirely new game. :grumpy:

I hope you dont have the same problem!:scared:

Bob acts like the other cpu cars. For example in Autumn Ring II, if Bob goes out of the course before the player can take control at the first turn (when it says full throttle etc.), the other cars go out too.

Dude!!! So what you are saying is that ultimately Im going to lose everything:scared: ...I really cannot sit down and do over everything at this point. Is there anything that you know of that can be done?? Is the corruption problem with the game disk itself or is it the memory card??

I dont know if you can do anything, Iam not even sure if your data is going to corrupt; but this happened to me. You could try to copy you game data to another memory card (via playstation browser), but I think that will not solve your problem.

Such problems occur if you turn off you PS while the game is loading or saving; but I never did anything like that and it happened! :indiff:
I cant help you, but try to copy the game date to a second card, maybe the copy is of some use.

Hhhmm....Thanks alot for your input!!! Ill try to get some more info on this as well.I contacted Sony and they told me that this is not a common problem so Im to try my memory card using a different game disk and see what happens. It may be a fault of the disk itself.Im going to try a cousin's disk and see what happens. Thanks again!!!

Nope, You'll need a MaxDrive or Sharkport/Xport. They're available for 20$, so it shouldn't burn a hole in you wallet, and it's very usefull.

Thanks. I'm English so $20 is about £14 am I right? Anyway, I'll see if I can get one. C'était un rendez-vous here I come!

EDIT: Will it be a .avi file? 'Coz I need something that can run in Windows XP or Knoppix. Either. I use both.

well im not sure if you guys have this problem too or im just to stupid to figure this out. (sry if theres a thread covering topics like this because i couldnt seem to find one)

sometimes when i race, my car tends to drift toward one direction without me turning, i just go straight and my car automatically slowly heads toward the right or left. does anyone know why? because its really annoying.

I used to have that problem with a DS2. The only solution was to move the analog joystick to the direction the car is turning and then back to the centre.

That'll make the controller re-find the centre and stop jerking to the side.

This is a question from the GT4 Drifting forum:
Just wondern if Gt4 added the ATTESA ETS in? if so than that is reason why it try to turn back in middle of a drift to create understeer.

But what I want to know if is it really noticeable during a regular race?

Hmm... I don't think I have $250 spare....

I do have this though. Would that do it? It's anolouge to digital...I could connect it to my TV and record. Possible?
That sounds like it'll do the job.

Connect the PS2 directly to the VideOh!™ DVD. Play your replay on the PS2 and record onto the PC. TV not required.

Thanks. I'll try it tomorrow. I'll post my findings here. It will involve moving my PS2 System up into my room so I'm not up to it now...
