Okay didn't want to create my own thread for this but today I decided to start the 1000 miles! event I knew it was going to be long but I found it the biggest waste of time on GT4. I got some money (quite a large sum of money to be precise) and a Alfa pointless why spend over 6 hours racing and only get an Alfa I was gutted. Should have checked the guides here first....

Am I the only one that thinks that the 1000 miles! event is a huge waste of time?

I've done the 1000 Miles! twice, with a Mercedes 300SL (overkill) and an Elan (still overkill, but more fun). Who cares what the prize car is?

I've done the 1000 miles in a copy of a Datsun 1600 that i used to race in real life. I didn't win, but i had fun trying.

Man, that would have been a challenge!

Did you have any luck trying to replicate your Torana in GT4? (I noticed your post regarding this previously)

I have just started a basic writeup of the FGT Championship in the 200pt A-Spec Races sub forum. The first four races are done so far, and pit strategies are included.
Have you found the championship WAY too easy, even at 200 A-Spec?

I won Seoul (117 laps [or is it 113?]) by 7 laps. To top it off, I was getting way better tyre mileage than the AI - that has NEVER happened (better tyre life than AI) to me outside the FGT events :|

My game is currently at Laguna Seca (race 10?). I have a three race points margin (retired at GVS, won all others so far).

I just didn't enjoy doing the whole event so I thought the prize car was pretty useless. But later on that day I managed to get the Suzuki Escudo and the Minolta so in general I am now happ..ier

i know 3 aces that are a pain in the back side, the 3 24 hours races. i have done all three and was completely tired after each one. the b spec mode is no fun either, even though it does get the races done quicker. if you did the 24 hours in b spec, it'll take 8 hours or so, how boring is that

well, not boring at all if you like racing games, such as Gran Turismo.

Plus, you can always NOT do the races, if they tire you so much.

At 200 points the championship is easy at times, challenging at others. The high speed ring was definately easy with almost 2 minutes margin of victory, but Infineon was far from easy the first time around.

Tyre life benefits greatly when you reduce the toe angle, I think it was set to 6 as default! However with the ballast weight pulling you sideways in the corners and a lack of downforce sticking you to the road, certain tracks still wear the tyres out rather quickly.

I have now completed 14 of the races for 200 points with only one reset necessary (Oh the joys of a 100% win ratio). However as I had already completed ten of these before I thought to write them up, I have some way to go.

Do the 24 enduros in a car that requires you to drive well to win, ie no 1pt races!

Already done that. 200 points A-spec in ALL enduros except the roadster 4 hour race. I've found the game to be so much more challenging and fun since I began my quest for 100,000 A-spec points.

I did the first few races at approx 140 points, then went back to 60.

A-Spec @ 60 pts, I was six seconds a lap faster than the AI. However, the car was an absolute pig, so after about 30 or so laps I swapped to B-Spec until lap 70, then finished off in A-Spec.

I run toe at -1. At Motegi SS I was pitting about 4 laps later than the AI, and at Seoul a huge 6-10 laps later!

Really, if you're playing GT4 for the prize cars, you might just as well not play GT4.

Im just wasting days doin family cup until day 694... im at day 612. These SRT-4 arent worth what they cost, theyre fast...if im racing a toddler on a trike!

You can always buy rims... each set of rims you buy takes a day off, and since they're dirt cheap, you don't spend that much money

right, those make days pass like a breeze... like a damned beeze that doesn't let you get freakin' gold!

Heh heh...

Seriously, the quickest way to pass time is go to the first license test, then just keep selecting "next test" until you get to the coffee break. Actually taking the test is optional. It wouldn't hurt to at least take a stab at a gold, though.
