This is close, I think - the Tom Wilkinshaw Racing XJ220.

That's an even better picture. Does anyone have any information on this car? Was it first in GT, or is the one in GT based off of this? Where did it race, if it did race?

Got a question:
GT4 has steering help for DS2 by default (you know, when the gme doesn't allow you to use too much steering ange) My qestion is if it can be switched off?

Cheers,

Arthur

The XJ220C had a class victory at Lemans in '93 in GT but has been disqualified later.

I'm sure it's possible if you looking in the steering section of the options.

Correct me If I'm wrong but it works only for steering wheels, right? It has no affect
(I'm driving through a turn and turn the stick to the max and I still don't have full lock)

Is it possible to switch it off for DS2?

From what I read, this car raced in some Touring class before the XJ220C Serge posted raced. They look very similar to the ones in the Gran Turismo games, to I assume the ones in GT games are based on the original racing XJ220s?

I didn't play 24 hours endurance,but I have serious question

Does the time change (day to night ) in 24 hour at endurance races?

Yeah, they didn't have time to model night time.

Still, at least there's plenty of Skylines.

I don't really know why, I'm sure someone else will.

I think that is one of my gripes about GT4.

Day to night racing, and vice-versa, would be a lot more realistic in the endurance races.

my guess is that it can't... then again, I've never heard that GT4 has steering assistance for DS2

Because the 2003 Golf GTi is a brick, and the only way they can give it realistic performance is to put a minus turbo on, which pumps out air forwards.

But really, I don't know.

I love Golfs and could defend them till I die, but this is about realism afterall.
The later Golfs all seem a little slack in the performance dept.
They have a lot more weight, luxuries and restrictions than the older ones.
The early Golfs were a lot more willing and capable.
Even when highly tuned, unless the interiors are stripped in the new ones
it will still lack that bit of 'go'.

It doesn't.

It's a question of how the controllers react - I noted this in GT3 and the same effect is present in GT4.

When you use the D-pad to steer you get a slower response than the sticks, but a greater maximum lock. That is, it'll steer more, but it'll take longer to steer the same.

When you use the stick to steer you get a quicker response than the D-pad, but a smaller maximum lock. That is, it'll steer less, but get there quicker.

When you use a wheel you get the best of both worlds - you get as much lock as you can dial in, and it'll get there just as soon as you do.

If you want to see this effect for yourself, use coptercam (chase view) and then flick to rear-view. With the car stationary, slam full lock on in one direction with each method of steering and you'll see exactly what I mean. It's not steering assist for the DS2 - else you'd see the same thing whether you used the sticks or the D-pad - it's just a consequence of what you use.

I expect there's some terribly good reason, along the lines that novice players will be hammering the D-pad with fat thumbs and a slower response is required to prevent them from smashing into everything. No disrespect intended to button bashers, since I AM one.

I think the delay on DS2 is to simulate the time it would take to manually turn the wheel to the lock position...

Anyone notices that on the Lancia Stratos Rally Car Liscense Test, when you see the replay, it tells you that you are on Dirt Tires, even though you are on Costa Di Amalfi? :dopey:

Could be that we're actually using Dirts. AFAIK, tyre-type in replays is determines by tyres used by a system built into it - and it makes no sense to write the tyres for the licences manually... Could be a programming-error in which they gave that test Dirts, though.

So uhh I only have 1.76 mil...and I need a car for the GTWC and for All American Championship.

Any recommendations on cars maybe one car that I can use for both? Also, maybe a reccomendation on which championship race I should so over an over to earn the money...
