Nice comparative work Egghead!

But you were nice for GT4 when you chose the crash. You more could easily have found one with a thumber result.

I wanted to include more crashes, really but they are dull. This was the best one. So i decided to show you some Forza crashes. They aren't great but alot better then GT4. More.. well.. interaction, let's put it that way.. the 2 wheel crash rules haha, it's so stupid but sooooooo cool:)

Not really a fair comparison since Forza isnt released yet but you are using the final version of GT4. At least the Forza AI doesnt just smash into you all the time.
Here is the comparison to show the AI.
Drive the opposite way on the track towards the AI. You will notice the AI in Forza will try to avoid you. Now GT4... they will smash into you full blast like you arent there.
On the Forza demo if you use a viper or just about any other car that the one you drove the cars will drive around you if you stop.
Regardless of any debate I will buy both games when they come out but ill be playing Forza online. 👍
The exhaust sound comparisons are sick!!! :dopey:

 Forza is SOO lame, the cars stopped ahahahahahaha, how bad can a AI be? it could only be worse if the cars couldn't get of there sp[ot at all.

The thought Egghead was the pacecar ahahahah. OMG im dying of laughing .

Stopping behind the car in front of it shows at least some artificial intelligence compared to just slamming into it vigorously like the cars in GT4 do. :dunce:

I can't believe how terrible that is.

the AI in a 5-10 year old game, VIPER RACING, from sierra, is perfect (along with the game's physics). The graphics are pretty bad but if Sierra can put together a package like that so long ago, I don't know why no one else can now.

Pretty interesting vids Egghead!!! 👍 My sum up of Forza against GT4 back to back vids:
GT4: Dumb AI
Forza: Dumber AI
GT4: Better Graphics Detail
Forza: Better Engine Detail

The Ai in Gt4 has only a couple of faults like the slamming, but you can't call it dumb, its good., but not perfect, not even almost., the Forza is just idiot, just use Ghost replays instead,

In which way is stopping behind a car (which actually means recognizing it as an obstacle) dumber than driving into it blindly?

I must say I'm slowly getting pi**ed by this. You can like GT4 better than Forza if you like, but you guys should be fair when judging things like that. :ouch:

I dont mean that not plowing into car is dumb. However in say Test Drive LeMans they stop as well if you stop in front of them but after a few seconds back up and drive around you instead of waiting patiently for you to move this is suppose to be race!

Common, common did you sse the vid, its embarrassing, i'd rather have some banging(wich happens in realllife look at DTM) The vids show someone braking heaveli for an high speed corner, yea right, off course big bang, if you just do normal you get an little DTM slam once in a while. (Egghead next time don't stop at that p[iont casue nobody does that rediculous low speed in such corners)

If you strategically place your car on a long straight like Fuji Speedway in GT4, so the opponents can see you miles before they reach your position, they'll still slam into you. You consider that more intelligent than stopping before they hit your car or driving around you?

I real life, would anyone do that?, no so its no problem cause its a move no one does(and if someone spins, he gets to the side as quick as possible) asl, it takes a long time to get the others to brake if there at 320, so its not that big mistake.
Ai will never be perfect.

I know AI will never be perfect, but it has been better on previous games, and the AI in the Forza demo is not dumber than the AI in GT4. That's the point I'm trying to make.

I was mucking about with the Forza AI and I purposely parked my car sideways on the racing line and all the AI cars just stoped. Im afraid any game where you can force the AI cars to stop isnt good atall it wouldnt ever happen in real life. The cars in GT4 are over agressive but if you stick to the perfect racing lines you should be alright

The thing with the forza cars and alot of racing games is that they are programed to race on the racing lines only. If thats blocked there are 2 choices, crash it or totally stop. I real driver would just go round the opsitcal by going well of the racing line

I agree. that If you were the driver of the car behind a car that stops dead, First you would stop too, then if you noticed that there was not a problem ahead, you would drive around, If you could not drive around from where you are you would back up and take a different route. What the game doesn't do is make up its mind quickly, it can take a while to do this, but eventually it does. even after realizing you are trying to block, It completely forgets what is going on, If the final game fixes that after the first couple of times you do it then I have no gripes, but for a demo it adds some depth to gameplay, I mean no replays to see your carnage from a different perspective over and over again, so you have to make due. Myself I have played the demo probably 50 times, and after realizing careful driving gets the same result over and over again, I decided to do something that yields a new result, or a similar result to what I did last time. I know most of us will become bored with just straight up racing online, and to take a break play cat and mouse on nurburgring. usually C&M games last 15 minutes or more, and most times go back to back for many rounds, sometimes all night.

As for the games to compare, side by side I couldn't even think about how different the games actually look, and since I am at work I can't look at the vids.

Actually, it's erroneous to say that it's dumber by stopping behind you, because it shows that it's reacting to stimulus. However, does that mean it's better? No.

I think this is most likely proof of the 'rubber-band' AI that Forza might be using, purposely keeping the cars close together. Most sim fans tend to frown on that as being unrealistic. However, since it is a demo, it might change in the completed game.

I must say I'm slowly getting pi**ed by this. You can like GT4 better than Forza if you like, but you guys should be fair when judging things like that. :ouch:

What tends to aggravate me is that most GT fans are willing to concede faults in Gran Turismo, such as the AI, the sound, lack of online; but when someone suggests a fault with Forza, they're immediately branded as a GT fanboy. That doesn't make sense. There are going to be things wrong with Forza. Accept it.

Is it me or GT4 engines in chase view sounds like the cars are in an empty room? The engine sounds are great, but the reverb added on them is quite bad... it's better with the bumper cam though.

AI seems great in Forza, but the cars look like they're made out of plastic.

The landscape is quite different for Laguna... I'd like to hear the opinion of someone who actually went there on which version is more accurate. (LoudMusic?)

Exactly! My point is that neither of the AIs are intelligent, whereas the users I was referring to said that the Forza AI would be dumber than GT4s AI because it was stopping behind the players car.

I do accept it. What I'm trying to say is that we have two racing simulations here which should be judged impartially. My above statement was caused by users who repeatedly said that Forza was so much worse than GT4. But if you look at the facts (or in this case the videos), it isn't. I'm not saying it's better, but it ain't worse also. In my opinion the games are pretty much equal from what I saw in the videos. Both do have their problems.

Cheers,

The engine sounds in Forxa really are music to my ears and heart. the Nsx in gt4 sound quite good but if ya really listen carefully then ya see that the nsx in forza sonuds more realistic...damn now i hafta buy me an xbox so that i can buy both of the games.....
I really dont care for which of them looks best cuz both of the games looks very pleasent so to speak.

Where are all the videos being added? I havent been able to find a URL for the last 10 pages and the one i do find says i have to enter a passowrd and name other wise i am un-athorised to enter the site!! :banghead: What is going on?!

Can someone please post a whole bunch of new nideo's on Nurburgring and other tracks with Lm cars and F1 and supercars, they list hasn't been real updated since 11 th january
