Knowing this, how can a reasonable person expect Polyphony to dump more time and money into assembling & licensing an enormous tracklist that's still not going to please everybody? To PD, I suspect the music is just taking up disk space and memory and probably isn't worth the effort.
IMO, your argument is similar to the people who whine about no Porsche, Lamborghini, or Ferrari in the game. They're insulted & upset by a simple business decision: if Sony spends $40M (made up amount, obviously) on licensing those brands, will they bring in that much more money in sales? PD doesn't seem to think so...
The same logic works for you: if PD had taken the time to license an enormous tracklist (which may or may not include songs that make you smile, but will certainly eat up a bunch of disk space) would they get a decent return on their investment? All signs point to no. There would still be complaints, and your complaint carries no more weight than anybody else. So they've grabbed a handful of songs, given you the ability to pick & choose or turn them all off (that's my choice), and considered it done.
Their decision makes business sense, yours makes artistic sense. It shouldn't be a big surprise that business won.
Was about time someone bring up an argument closer to reality.
But have you read the very first post btw ?
I believe in the very first post i said something about the financial state PD have.
Now tell me this, adding more textures, more sounds, more models, more tracks, also cost a lot of time and money too.
Now tell me something, where exactly do you see the limit ? There are so many economical factors involved during and after the production. Where is the limit in GT4 production ? What if we (let say) remove about 10 constructors rights, 20 race tracks and few hundreds textures ?. the game would be smaller and more ugly. But how many people would complain ? more complains than now or less ?
According to your argument, PD reached that limit in GT4 to be viable. Are you very sure about it?
As you know, the PS3 and X360 are going to allow developers to produce much richer games. Do you believe they are actually going to add more contents in the PS3 version ?
According to you, GT5 wont have more content.. Just higher resolution and a better graphic motion. Lets wait and see about it.
Have you made any business decision before?
Tell me something, what business decision will you make if too many people complain about your product ? and if few people complain ? and if very little complain ?
Will your business decision be the same for all 3 cases? That would depend right ?
BTW, how many music tracks was there in GT 1,2 & 3. I dont recall.
Do you actually know how much GT4 cost to produce ? How many copies have they sold ? how much profit have they made ? Thats more the kind of stuff i would like to hear before i dissect your arguments.
More question, let suppose your company sell something. That thing cost 100 bucks to produce and it features A, B,C,D,E services.
Each bonus features cost you money.
By removing feature E you notice that youre still viable, no chance in the profit.
You try to cut feature D. You notice slight increase in complains but still no chance to the profit. Are you going to keep reducing the features until you notice the sale drecrease or until too many people complain?
This question is my favourite: Will you expect people to complain about your product if you cut feature C ?

And of course, all this assumes you've actually given this some thought and aren't just here to troll for insults & arguments.
