Hey guys, help out the community (and myself) by posting your settings that you used on your run on the ring here. We seem to be getting alot of I want settings for (insert car name here) on the ring.. bla bla bla.. I'd like to compile a settings depot of the racing settings used to run the nurb. Thanks for your help guys.

For the arcade cars you can't modify the settings. For my GT Mode racers, usuall all I do is lower the car and maybe mess with the camber and damping a tad.

I bet with a fully modded super car 5's is possible

...depends on what you define "supercar" as. The only normal "supercar" in GT4 that I can think of that would do sub 6min laps is the ZZII. You need a low, light and stiff MR car for that. I'm not one to add lots of power to my cars. I prefer to work on suspension and gearing to maximize lap times. Dumping in a stage 4 Turbo to any car is too easy (and boring) IMO. But hey, that is just me.

As far as LMP and GTR cars some can easily do sub 6mins stock with R5s to R3s depending on the car.

I ran a 6:50 with my s2000 spec v...

I'd love to see the replay on this one. can you post it?

I also can't believe that nitrous is legal!?!? I think it has turned "the ultimate driving sumulator" into the "the ultimate fast and the furious simulator". I guess that alot of crazy times are possible with nitrous. I don't think I'll be using it.

Anyhow, I was wondering if we could get a different color, if our car is completely stock. I mean straight from the showroom to the track(via the oil express, of course) No tires or anything. This will just differentiate those cars alittle better and see which is the faster production car and what times we can get with them. just a thought.

Oh yeah, great idea. I love the ring.

I ran a 6'36.xxx earlier in the week in my Evo VIII MR. Had a minor offroad excursion after the kink on the main straight. I'll try to eek out a errorless lap and PM you the results.

This shouldn't have to be said but I've been seeing posts in the GT4 forum about people having "super fast" laps on the Nurburgring with only "a few offs in the grass"...

If anyone is submitting laps with "offs" in them (grass or wall touching) they are not valid. Please don't submit laps like that. If you can't make a clean lap keep practicing and don't waste my time by submitting it.

This goes for the few of you who PM'd me asking me if their laps with offs in the grass (but no wall touching) are ok.

They aren't.

Sorry...I just wanted to make this clear, I thought it was assumed and clear in the rules, but I guess not.

Nice sub 6 min time!

Good work, but I reckon you should have a table for cars with a maximum of 300bhp (for example) otherwise it could a little boring as everyone will start using the same car / setup as the current leader.

Having a "low" limit like 300 will promote a wider variety of cars & setup.

I agree.

This would employ a sort of 'classes' system instead of just lumping everyone into one catagory.

I personally like to tune my cars to set standards, like the 1100kg minimum weight for JGTC (my FD for example).

Even just sorting the times like:

GT300
GT500
and GT500+ for cars over 500hp.

That would add alot more depth to this already solidly layed out leaderboard.

Just submitted my times via PM.

Have a few questions and comments though.

First off, PLEASE ditch the "NOS".
In true GT flavor, all of my runs will be with out it.
I'm no FnF supporter as you may have guessed. 👎
It is however your leaderboard and you will set the rules however you like. 👍

Next, how did "SlipZtrEm" get race tires on his RGT in arcade mode?
I'm guessing this is just an error as his time is obviously possible with sports tires.

Lastly, all of my runs are clean, saved and available to anyone who questions them via X-port or Max Drive.

So Rod Millen was going F&F style when he ran N2O in his Pikes Peak Tacoma when he was trying to beat his own record of 10'04.54 in the late 90s? Looking at it from an engineering point of view one would do anything in the name of winning/speed that is within the legality of the rules. In the days of CanAm McLaren was using huge V8s for example, and doing quite well when Porsche came along with its 917s and eventually the ridiculous 917/30 and dominated. N20 is not a bad thing, if you think it is just because of how it was portrayed in a crappy movie that appeals to ricers then you are mislead. Oh and just for reference here is an article a friend scanned and posted on another forum about the Super Taco and his use of laughing gas in its failed attempt to top the Celica.

About NOS. I don't care about it one way or another. It's not my deal but it is a valid form of engine upgrade. I can't police these laps or what people are doing in them. So there is no way I could say you can't use it or not. Beyond that in GTmode part of the appeal to those wanting to run it is upgrading and tuning your car. Some people want NOS, jsut as some want turbo chargers or superchargers.

Frankly I have a larger problem with having to run totally unrealistic super soft race tires (R5)s that wouldn't even make a full lap around the Nordschleife in real life. I've always thought they were lame in all the hotlapping and OLR I've done. But again to each their own I suppose. I've run some laps with R5s (I loath driving them, I much prefer the feel of R3s or R1s) in preparation for GT4 OLR which will start soon.

I originally had plans to make this leaderboard more of a database with replay files required for submission. Then I read about Jordon's plans for a hotlap DB here on GTP. That will be much better IMO and when it is out I am not sure what I will do with this leaderboard....

Good catch on the race tires in arcade mode. I'll change it to S tires...SlipZtrEm, what tires were they exactly? I'll assume S3s.

Oh and thanks for saving your replay files...I would expect every good WRS racer to do that! :)

I have my replay saved. If they are needed I can see about getting them onto my comp to post online somewhere.

EDIT: The power on my Evo was 543bhp, not 534. Just trying to stay honest.

Buick GNX ~ Simulation Mode ~ Racing Tires ~ TCS On (default) ~ 6:59

Not bad for a 600HP car thats almost 20 years old :) Took forever to make fantastic Suspension for it :) Im proud

Like I said guys. If you have a replay device (like a MAX driver or x-port/sharkport) save your replays. I don't require them but if any other user questions your laptimes they are good to have. Photos of the final screen prove nothing other than you completed the lap. You could have driven in the grass the entire way for all we know. Videos of your lap are ok, but replays are prefered.

All of this will become more important to those of you new to OLR (on-line racing) in the coming weeks when GT4 hotlaps boards start coming online (here and GT3times.com). The rules on those will be alot stricter and usually all laps are screened before they can be submitted, at least with the top five to ten. So be prepared those of you new to OLR. It can get ugly when someone cheats. Not than any of you are...but be warned if you are and submitting lap times.

Well I have no time to get into a large debate over it's use and don't get me wrong, I have and do use it in the game.

In general, it is not accepted in the rules for the majority of motorsports.
I'm guessing mostly due to the safety factor of carrying a compressed bottle in the vehicle.

Porsche's 917s have nothing to do with N2O, there have been many manufacturers that find the loop-hole in a certain types of racing and take advantage of it. Porsche just seems to be best at it. That was a terrible example (the Pike's Peak example was pretty good however).

Policing it's use is no different than any other form of modification in the game. Maybe even easier as it has a N20 "fuel" gauge right on the replay screen if you are running it.

At the very least it would be nice to have it noted on the lap times that it was used as it is a HUGE gain in HP and lap time.

I wouldn't consider the 917/30 a terrible example. Porsche took use of a power adder, only this time in the form of a turbocharger. I know what you are saying about it not being allowed in pretty much all racing series, but the rules on this leaderboard allow for it. That is where I was trying to draw the connection, that N20 is just another power adder to give you an added advantage. Racing is about exploiting the regulations to the fullest extent from an engineering/tuning point of view. If it were not allowed I would have no problem in leaving it off my cars. If it is allowed I have no problem using it. I didn't mean to come off as an ass, and if I did it was my bad. I'm new to this forum although I have been lurking the months leading up to GT4, so I don't mean to make any enemies or anything like that. Just here to have some fun. :) I was running a 40 shot on the N'ring lap if you were curious. I use it on a lot of the flat out uphill sections and of course on the straight.

I actually had N2o listed as one of the things you had to send me to submit a time. I removed it though as some people have hard enough time giving me the info I requested in their submission. Of the times you see on the board now, I must have gotten 15 other submission that didn't have all the info I requested, so I deleted them. Like the rules said, partial submission will be ignored. I don't have time to chase people to give me all the info i request for the leaderboard. I aslo don't take submissions via this thread or others. If you want a time on this board submitted it to what the rules say or don't bother...

As far a N2o being easy to see because of the gauge on the replay, no doubt. However I don't screen the laps here prior to posting them so again I don't know.

I figure if you see a car and a time and setup the same car and can't get near the time, no matter how good you are, figure they have N2o onboard.

Part of the challenge here is trying to figure out the setup a given person used if you want to chase that lap. The ps/hp and the kg should be a good guide.

What is the prefered view for lap replays? On car or outside with the lap info on screen?

Doesn't matter. Replay files can be viewed in anyway once they are loaded to another PS2.

If you are taking video of your lap, outside from behind/above is pefered. That way once can see if there are any offs.

How do you get a replay file saved that can be uploaded to a PS2? If there is a link that can help me I'd appreciate it. Sorry if I'm being a pain.
