Ok .. this is like the 5th time I've explained formatting it:

Go to my computer and right click on the USB drive

Select format

Change the filesystem to FAT32

Make sure quick format is deselected

Press ok, format, start whatever the button is.

Great idea... have you tried it? Lemme share a secret.... IT DOESN'T WORK. The MAXDrive is too small to support a FAT32 file system. You can only use FAT or NTFS, neither of which seem to be recognized by the game.

The one user that did get his working doesn't know the specifics of how he did it. He's using a Macintosh, and used the standard drive-format, using "MS-DOS File System", and it worked. Unfortunately, MS-DOS formatting hasn't existed in Windows since Win 3.11.

I have a friend of mine that uses Macs at work, so I'll give him my MAXDrive and have him try to format it. It'll take a couple of days to hear back about it, though.

No I haven't tried it as I wasn't about to go out and purchase a MAXDrive to make sure it worked before posting it. Nor will I go out and buy every other USB key out there to make sure it works before posting a general how to on formatting USB keys to FAT32.

My post was in response to the one above mine, which I misread and didn't realize it was talking about specifically formatting the MAXDrive until about 30 seconds ago; I thought GT_Fan2005 was asking about drives in general.

Does anyone know if a Apply Ipod works, i just want to know if i have to buy a usb stick or not, thanks in Advanced.

go back and read the thread. it has been mention like a gazillion times. thanks in advance.

Can someone tell me how to do it through an Olympus cam? Do you have it on or off, and what mode do you select. Because it gave me an error when I tried it.

I've tried a few different htings that work, so here's my choices:

Dell 128meg jumpdrive = works well

Lexar JumpDrive TRIO = works well

A note on the trio jumpdrive, you can put in multimedia, Secure Digital OR Sony's memory stick and they all work. I tried a lexar 32 meg multimedia card and it worked ok, a 16 meg Sony memory stick, and the quality was so-so on that (it IS a year or two old though), and a 256 meg Secure Digital Lexar card, and it works perfectly.

Does the maxdrive transfers the all the filles except the GT4 Pictures, so the savegame is ok?

And are the the pictures transferred, but just don't working?

I'm trying to get my 20 gb version 3.0.2 ipod to work with photo mode, but when i plug it into my ps2 before i turn it on, it says "charging," and when i save a photo, it says "do not disconnect," but the ps2 says no usb storage device connected. I have the ipod set to disk use on itunes. Any ideas?

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere, but how old can the PS2 be to use these things? I have a first-generation PS2, and it doesn't see my Cruzer Micro 256MB in any way, shape, or form, even after formatting, and after trying it, one of my PCs doesn't see it any more, either (although the other one does.)

anyone know if the Goodmans GDC 1388 digital camera works, ?

simple usb to camera thing but i cant test it till i get GT4, ne1 else have this camera by coincidence

I noticed that you said the SanDisk Cruzer Mini doesn't work on your first page, but I have a 1.0 GB model, and it works fine. I've taken at least 40 photos and loaded them into my pc perfectly.

The MAXDrive still works as it normally does, to transfer files back and forth between the memory card and PC. But GT4 doesn't recognize it, says "USB Device Not Connected".

I also tried a "workaround" by saving the photos to the memory card, then I tried to transfer them to the MAXDrive. It works to an extent.. the files are indeed placed onto the MAXDrive, but they're compressed into Datel's proprietary "MAX" file format. Which means you can't actually DO anything with the files once you get them on your PC. I sent Datel a nastygram about that a couple days ago.

Thank God someone else has a Cruzer Mini that works.

So now we have a 128mb and a 1gb Cruzer Mini confirmed to be working.

Can anyone confirm that a Kingston 128MB Data Traveler will work? I want to be absolutely sure before I buy it. I know the first post says it's compatable but I wanted to see if anyone has had success with the 128MB.

My 15gb Gen 3 ipod works just fine using the USB cable. It never stops the "Do not disconnect" screen after saving, and takes about 5 minutes a photo to save, but nonetheless works fine.

Anyone know if an Iriver h120 or h320 will work?

I did a search for it and it listed this thread but I couldn't find any reference to it though the thread.

It really just confirms that it works for some and doesn't work for others, which is only mildly useful for this list. Ideally, we want to know for sure which USB drives will work 100% of the time (minus broken drives and ps2's)

walmart has these 256mb "Impact" brand thumbdrives for $28.. but they're really Lexars. i bought one and it works fine on the Slim PS2.

it's not on Walmart's website.. but here's proof that it's a Lexar. http://www.lexar.com/jumpdrive/jd_pro.html

I posted this on another topic....So, hopefully this will help others w/the same setup:

Using the SanDisk memory card out of my Canon Powershot A60 camera, along with the SanDisk memory card reader...I was able to successfully save/transfer a photo from my PS2 to my PC:

So, if you have a digital camera...and it uses one of these..and you also happend to have one of these...then you should be Good to go

NOTE: Some of you who own a digital camera may want to read this topic here in case your specific setup doesn't want to work.

Hope this helps?
