I do wonder with all these Polyphony F1 cars... anyone who has got one will be in for a good chance. Surely it should not be a disadvantage to not have certain cars/not have progressed far enough to get them? We all know some cars look better than others, no matter who's looking at the photo.

Could the judges make a clarification on the term 'Panning'?

I've always thought that 'panning' was 'to follow something in a horizontal (could be vertical) motion' (left to right or right to left).
To show speed or motion...

The reason I ask is some of the entries seem to be head-ons or 3/4 views (or similar)...without much motion... some have 'killer-speed'.

Mine is head on, yet it retains the horizontal movement...

my car, however, is sideways. :dopey:

The blue Skyline? I believe that's a pan shot. The camera is moving from right to left to 'freeze' the motion. A good pan. Tough compo.

It was Div is Back's final entry which is a head on, that got me thinking about this. Almost all have horizontal movement one way or another. I don't think Div's is a pan.

Only my opinion, this is why I ask...

Mr Toad: It's in the first post, but just in case you didn't see it, it means having a picture of the car, where the focus is on the car - the image is sharp - but is blurry on the background. Hope this helps!

Wow, some of these entries are excellent. 👍

FINAL ENTRY

I was wondering when you'd enter that into a competition. Blows me clean out of the running that does. But then so do many other entries.

Can I just say - the theme is "Panning" - but those direct front/rear shots don't seem to show this (I'm not referring to the picture I've just quoted), although they conform to the idea by using the non-realistics focus/blur settings available in photomode. They may be in the rules, but they certainly aren't in the spirit.

Yeah, I know about that, Diabolik wanted variety, but if it doesnt comply, I'll change it no problem!

Yeah, some people do seem to be confused about the theme. Panning is when the camera stays stationary and rotates quickly so as to keep a moving object in sight, hence giving the appearance of speed. What most of the front-on or rear-on pics have been is just turning down the focus so as to make the background appear "blurry", yet it's not panning. In some pics the wheels aren't even turning because the shutter speed is up so high! There's no way you can get much panning with the shutter speed so high. But, this doesn't really bother me because they're just hurting themselves by not fitting the theme. Now if they got selected into the top 20, then I might be ticked a bit :)

Well I really liked this weeks theme and I've had a lot of difficulty picking my final entry. Comments are welcome, I have to admit I'm quite proud of pictures this week :D

I know but Im kinda opposed to changing my "final entry"....because then it wouldnt be final :dopey:

I understand what you mean but if the opportunity is there and your not sure about your final entry it may be better to just change it, this is a good theme and from what I've seen of your pictures, I thought you would have been more confident about your final entry. See how you feel, there's still a few days to go 👍

Your right.....I think its a nice shot but I really didnt want submit a car thats already in 6 or so shots.(I should have went through the whole thread first :yuck: ) Ill shoot some tonight and if I get something more impressive.

Maybe Ill even go against my first statement and use one that I have in the thread.

Okay... deal me in...

FINAL ENTRY
