GT4 track you hate most

Man you guys crack me up. Am I like the only guy here who loves Hong Kong? I don't know what it is...

....well that's not true, I DO know why I like it. It's different from any other track..actually not all the turns are 90 degrees. I like all the lights and implied urban setting. Finally, I love out-smarting the Ai here!

Just like at any other track, the Ai gets all clueless with braking points, depending on which race you're trying. So there's usually an unorthodox racing line to use to get around them, at least that's what I find.

So good that you can't be bothered to figure out what it's actually called?

@ Parnelli: no you're not alone. I like Hong Kong too - just not the piece of invisible wall that juts out from the dogleg on the waterside part.

Hey, I like Hong Kong too, you guys are not alone on that one. Love the whole atmosphere and the technique involved to get fast times. It's a great city track.

The one I'd say I like the least (but I don't hate it) is Citta di Aria. not so much due to the narrow parts, which I actually like, but more because of how symmetrical it is, gets boring fast.

I like Hong Kong too. I don't get on with the Ice Arena. Its the only place I cant get used to and be quick at.

I used to hate Suzuka, then I did the 8h Enduro with my Opera Performance S2000. Now I actually enjoy the smooth turns at the beginning of the track.

I hate doing Hong Kong in a race. I'm OK doing solo but the AI just rams me into walls during races.

I hate the stupid super speed ring... so boring....its like... watching nascar....

Good thing is: there aren't too many races at Stupor Speedway or the Test course in GT4. GT3 is another story...I got so sick of doing ovals in GT3, I would sometimes just skip them in a race-series, even if it meant I'd lose some points to the Ai. :nervous:

True. Yeah, that's one of those areas that require full attention.

They'll do that, that's true. I just usually let them pass me if I know they're about to ram me, and then I'll outsmart them again later...

Man I always forget about those ice/snow tracks. I'm not very good at them yet. I'm not sure if I hate them yet or not.

Count me into the group that dislikes Hong Kong. They try to make it interesting, but the corners are too slow for my tastes, which gives it too much of a start-and-stop feeling as you make a lap. I feel much the same way about Twin Ring Motegi Road Course and (especially!) George V Paris.

I also hate that Hong Kong Track, especially when I am doing the GT World Championship. It seems every car I use, including the Minolta can't keep up with the competition, every turn they get me, and B-Spec sucks even more. But using regualar cars with sports tires I can beat the A.I. (non GTWC events though)

I don't like Grand Canyon. Give me any of the others mentioned especially Ice Arena and Chamonix. I love the Rallying fine but GT4s wierd rally handling (programming) makes Grand Canyon a pain in the butt. It's definitely more work than fun. And to add insult to injury, you can't actually punt those Portugese spectators.

I like how the Ice Arena has those "Throw Away" combination corners. You know, take a bad line here because it sets you up for the perfect line later.

Not a big fan of GT4's rallying at all, but I'll choose Grand Canyon. That track is a PITA to drive. It can get too slow and there's not really a flow that goes along with driving the track. Hong Kong is decent, but the AI can get annoying at times. I wouldn't care if PD scrapped rallying altogether because true rallying is basically a time trial to see who has the best car on a rally circuit. It is not 1 on 1 racing on a dirt track.

Yeah dude! I wanna run over those dumb photographers who keep jumping in the way of my precious racing-line! ah...well that's what Grand Theft Auto is for. :)

Yeah compared to the Rally events on GT3, GT3 rally races are much fun and more controllable than on GT4.

Can't understand why people don't like Hong Kong! Graphically it's one of the most expressive tracks in GT4, the lighting is spectacular, the scenery is exotic and it's a city circuit, so it's not meant to be 'flowing'. That's the whole point of road circuits, they're not 'designed' to get drivers into a rhythm, but throw them out of whack and give them a very hard time of doing so.

Monaco isn't really a 'rhythm' circuit either, but do you see anyone complaining? Hehe, that would be blasphemy!

I never used to like the Canyon. Matter of fact, I hated it, until I decided to do some laps in a Charger after I watched Dukes of Hazzard and began to find it a bit of fun in that car. Mind you, I hate the rally mode of Gran Turismo, but graphically the Canyon is a visual feast and once you've learned the track well, it's great fun.

L-O-V-E R-I-N-G. Hehe, don't get me started.

What I hate the most though is Super Speedway. Boring boring boring. Two corners, no banking, crap visuals, dull atmosphere and no challenge at all. I wish they'd get rid of it...

But no, they put the real life version in GT5P, hehe. I enjoyed Daytona for all of a single day, but it's already becoming jaded for me and has slipped to the bottom of my least favourite circuit.

Because it has absolutely no rhythm or flow. The front half is OK - just OK - but the back half is awful. It's a like a jerky little schoolboy who plays stupid, dirty tricks on everyone, and then laughs and feels superior. It's not a challenging track, it's an annoying track. There's no way to respect it. Only Japanamaniacs love it.

Funny, I really like Suzuka, but feel that way about Laguna Seca. :)

Seconded. Suzuka is a cool track in my opinion, but Laguna... it's just a bunch of sudden corners in sequence, all of which can send you instantly into the gravel. George V Paris is worse in that regard, though, just no flow at all.

^That only Japanamaniacs like it? :)

I must maintain my view that Tsukuba is the most boring racetrack to ever have appeared in any game. I´m currently swearing myself blue over Forza 2´s overuse of that incredibly dull piece of tarmac. I hope they skip it for GT5 (not likely :grumpy:).

I agree that tracks shouldn't be designed to always be 'flowing' in nature, thus allowing a rhythm to be established. However, I feel that all the tracks, with the exception of the Super Speedway, offer something that is going to please some, but not everyone, and that's to be expected!

I for one love the 'ring', but it took awhile for me to memorize the track and how certain cars/tires would respond. I can easily get into a rhythm in any car now though and would be happy w/just this one track in a game.

As for Laguna Seca, I find that one can establish a rhythm on this track quite easily as well, though probably not one that many find themselves getting in when racing the Ring, El Capitan or even Fuji 05'.

Well, just my $0.02 is all! :)

Laguna flows nicely for me. That's not to say I'm great at it - I'm slow through the right hander after the opening hairpin, and a few other places - but at least it has some pace to it. It was a little more fun in GT3 when you could go flat out through the left at the base of the hill leading up the The Corkscrew, but that actually wasn't that realistic, and the GT4 version is more like the real thing, even if it is harder to drive.

I agree, Tsukuba is duller than ditchwater, and every car I own understeers terribly there.
