Even though I think I've done my best it feels like it's not sufficient to qualify with. It feels like i'll come in last place with a 10 second margain to the one after me.

Is it just me or do you feel it?

If you're not happy with it then run it again, but does it really matter if you're placed in div 3 or whatever, because you can always work your way up the field once the WRS gets under way.

Edit:
I haven't had the chance to run this yet, I'll try and give it a bash tonight 👍

i think it means you can go into the quick tune bit and use full +20% power and -10% weight.
i did so i hope it does mean its allowed :scared:

Yes, it means that you can go to Quick-Tune and adjust power and weight.

And yes, it is allowed since Kent said so :)

Well, Submitted a time, but not pleased with it, and now I think I misread the qualifications, so on that note I'll be back to the Bimmer to run a little. . . Too bad they don't have my 525i in this game, I would vote to use that : )

Time submitted. I think it's good enough for where I want to be, but it bugs me to no end that I had a dirty time a whole .4 faster. :banghead:

Well, B-Bird told me I should go for this. So I don't know why, but I'll do this tomorrow and send it in to you Kent.

Don't know why I'm doing this. I'll probably end up being to slow, but I'll give it a shot.

Oh god, this combo is painful, I'm about 2 seconds off where I want to be but I just can't find the speed, I'll give it another bash tomorrow but if I don't get anything decent I'm pretty sure I'll have to settle for div 3 :(

Goddamnit, im feelin a bit like im 2 sex slow as well.

I swear its all in that first right hander and the last sweeping right.

At least i have the advantage of being able to brake whilst accelerating with my dfp, i tried it with a ds2 last nite, and using the stix i cant roll the bodyweight of the beast at all!!
Its all or nothing with an analogue stick.
Right....... back to the wheel..... have to beat chips.....

I gave this a quick try last night, for the first time since this Qualification has been posted.

This car is just the understeering queen. I am sure a FF would understeer less than this? It understeers in any gear, any speed, any corner, even on a straight line...

It's really hard to make a clean and fast lap at the same time.

But maybe it was just last night. It was 12 AM, I just finished a lab report that took me 6 hours to complete, I was a little angry, and I am sure this all situation did not help making a good run.

I will try again with a clear mind this evening.
There is still a couple of seconds to shave from my current final time.

it does understeer yes, but you need to be smooth with brake/gas and turning.

This car loves weightshifting.

VEXD, try to beat me if you can :P, You wait unti WRS GT4 race 1 i show you how to race with DFP :sly:

One of the secrets with this car is to let it roll. Let the suspension do its job and then when the car is turned, get on the throttle. If you mash the gas mid corner then all the weigh transfers to the rear, giving the front no grip.

Slow in, fast out

Happy fishin!

Yes, weightshifting is your friend with a BMW, especially the M3s...

:)

Spent last night running laps with this combo, got a solid time but there is another second out there for me if I nail everything right....and I want that second!

I'm doing okay with this so far. Although I'm still having a slight bit of trouble nailing the first set of turns as you go uphill. If I can nail that part then I can easily shred atleast 2 seconds off my time.

Its a very good combination in my opinion. It should really separate the great drivers from the good ones.

Nice combo now that I actually got around to trying it out 👍

Will get a more serious run in tonight and submit ... cheers :)

Well, I have to say that I am starting to like the BMW M3.

It was just a matter of a little practice, since I had never used that vehicle before this Qualification Race.

I have just run ~20 laps and I have already found ~1.5 seconds here and there.
I know, due to my own T splits comparison, that there is at least another half a second to be gained off my current best time.

I will run a few more laps later tonight.
There is no point in rushing it, since I am assuming that the First GT4 WRS Race will be announced sometime this coming weekend.

Educate me.

I don't see how the weightshifting could be a good thing. In the S turns when I do let it's weightshift it then slides in turn bogging down my speed.

You can't just chuck the car into the corner and slam the throttle. What do you think will happen?

The 'esses can be taken with the brake only being used for steering (a tap here and there, no more) along with the throttle to straighten the car out. Your tail should be sliding but not much.

Left foot brakers should have an advantage with this combo. The M3 rewards proper left foot braking well.

Race drifting is a fine art my friend.

I tap the brakes just before entering the S turns and then give it a little over half acceleration and then full out of the last turn. That technique lessens weightshifting greatly.

I would suggest watching Rudi's M3 video over on Daan's site (click here). You'll notice how he is using the weightshifts in the car to adjust the apexes, yet it is very subtle. It's a very fast lap in a M3 spec'd the same as this qualifier on the 'Ring.

Guys, ok, it says Arcade Mode and then it says Quick-Tune up.

Just to clarify this race is Arcade Mode, which means no modifications right?

Once you load up arcade mode and before you start your lap you can click on the quick tune icon (little red toolbox) to change HP + or - 20% and weight + or - 10%, so feel free to boost the power and drop the tonnage.👍

Thanks! I didn't even know about that until now. :mischievous: I'll send in a time by tonight.
