Hmm, the back door would appear to be extremely busy into this series....

I for one have just made a "No Hugo Boss's" sign to hang on it.

Someone please put it up?

I hate this track now, so im going to live with the time i have, and see where i end up, the great thing about this racing, is i know i can move when i improve.

Im looking forward to trying to beat some of the fastest guys and gals in tha world....

And the Dutch.

Sorry Kent, you'll get a time from me maybe tonight or tomorrow instead of yesterday. Still tryting to find flaws in my ghost.

You might not be running the correct car. Only race cars have the top speed adjustment, at least in my NTSC-J version. Is it different for the NTSC and PAL copies?

Ar eyou sure you have the BMW M3 '04, not the BMW M3 GT-R Race car?

Ahh, I didn't realize the top speed was only for race cars, I must've missed it cause it isn't there :dunce: :D

I do have the right car. I knew doing this while I was sick wasn't a good idea ....

Hello villainpl,

Don't worry, this is the qualifying race and it will remain open indefinately. You have plenty of time.
But when you do decide to run the race, please make sure that you send your time to Kent via Private Message as there should be no times displayed in this thread.

Good luck. 👍

Mr. P, great to see ya mate. How's it hangin?

Got a lot of you bloody fools out here in Vail Colorado right now, but not a one of them can handle a wheel like you can. If my luck holds true, I won't be in the same division as you.

Great to see ya mate. Take good care. 👍

Hi Rob it's hanging slightly to the left man :D ... Great to see you back in the game mate  👍

GT4 has put everyone on a more level playing field I reckon ... so you D2 and D3 guys from GT3 WRS should be more capable of scaring the old GT3 pros week after week ;)
Should make for more tighter racing

Laters.

I'll have to wait with this race 👎 because I just bought me a GT-one 👍 and I am now running in the GT World Championship 👍

And still trying to find some time with all the work at home :dunce:

Cheers,

I've been watching you guys in GT3 for a year or so but thought I'd wait for GT4 to get involved at the beginning. I'm gonna run it tonight, It'll be a nice change, I've been working on my golds for the last week, 73 Gold, 7 Silver. I hope to be active in all the competitions, thanks for the chance. I've been active at a couple other sites with challenges and over at Gold Junkies, I'll probably end up in the middle of the pack here as well, hopefully !

I'm not new to the Gran Tursimo world, but I haven't gotten involved in any GT boards before, so I'm new to the WRS. This is exactly the type of challenge my 14 year old son and I give each other, so we're both up for this. I won't be able to get a time done before the weekend, but I'll submit my time then.

Do I need to have a separate GtPlanet login for my son's time, or can I just give him a driver name?

Thanks, and looking forward to the competition.

I have a couple of questions as a newbie.

The rules state:

Clean OLR standards. I assume OLR = online racing. Is that correct? What are clean OLR standards?

No hybrids. What does this mean?

Thanks.

Basically the OLR standards are just (from Kent's post):
2 wheels on track at all times
Rumble Strips are part of the track
No wall riding
No wall touching
No short cutting
No hybrids
No Cheating of any kind

Famine has a hybrid guide going around somewhere .. Famine's Hybrid Guide

hi i'm new too but im pretty sure a hybrid is where you edit the cars using a computer - theres a whole section on it in the forums somewhere not too sure where there - sorry. i'm not too sure about the clean OLR standards either but i assume it's just clean driving - no cheating like cutting corners etc... looking forward to the first event.

Yes, OLR is on-line racing.

Clean OLR standards are no wall touches and ALWAYS at least 2 tires on the race track or rumple strips.

Hybrids are cars modified outside of the game with special programs. You won't have to worry about that just yet with GT4 as nobody I know of has broken the codes down yet (or whatever it is they have to do).

EDIT: I need to learn how to type faster. :dunce:

No need to rush yourself LMM. This is the registration race and it will be open indefinately. You can qualify and enter at any time you see fit. 👍

Well, for clarity's sake, I would suggest that your son gets an account here. I think it would make things simple for all those involved.
I'm sure he wouldn't mind perusing the forum on his own accord with his own identity.
However, if using this same account is more condusive to your needs, then I'm sure that Kent wouldn't mind. But, you may have to wait for his decision on that.

Thanks, and looking forward to the competition.

Welcome to the Weekly Race Series and hope to see you and your son here soon. 👍

I sent in my time yesterday only to realize that everyone I know is much faster than that time, by a good 5-8 seconds!

I'm a bit scared myself as to where I have placed. :scared:

I've started to use the wheel and I'm not that great at it yet, and I shall ride that excuse till the cow's come home.

Anyway, I'm patiently awaiting the results when Kent gets back. 👍

Hey Tuff I think I see Ron peeking around back with Kelly close behind, SHUT THE DOOR!!!

Fine! shut the door in our faces, why don't you!
hmm.gif

I'll be lucky to qualify in div 2 I think, not having much luck with this combo so far

Sorry to all those who might find this post to be a "nOOb question" but since I myself am also new to OLR, I just
wanted clarification on the following...

In Kent's original post, he states the following:

Kent
...Send your final time to me using a Private Message.
You may request a copy of the times submitted for this race only after completing the qualification.

So, if this 'qualification' is open forever, as Blake said in post # 97...when would someone post their final times? I'm assuming when they feel they can't go any faster?

Thx to anyone whose willing to take the time to post a response! :-)

Peace-

SimRaceDriver

he should close the race in like the next two months or just keep it open but make a new series, with a new track and a completely different car.
we should give suggestions if he agrees

You send it in whenever you feel like it. In GT3, I ran enough to be satisified with my run. For me there is no need to seek out those last hundreths or even a couple tenths for the qualifying race.

Just want to say hi to all of you on this topic, as I have just submitted my time to Kent and am looking forward to starting the real racing. I'm sure I'll be last, and I'm just waiting for my DFP to arrive, so that'll take a bit fo getting used to, but hey, someone has to be last.

Cheers,

Paul

No this race is the qualifier, which everyone must do before they compete in the WRS. You do the qualifier then you get placed in a division.

GT3 qualifier was the same for the entire 2 years the GT3 WRS ran. Expect the GT4 qualifier to stay the same and stay open until GT5 WRS.

Once you have yourself a division you can compete in the competition each week (hence Weekly Race Series) since its just starting there is not a week 1 race yet, they normally start Monday or Tuesday depending on your time zone. In your division you can go up or down depending on your performance against the rest of your division.

Once the WRS has started Kent posts combos like this one, and you go off and race them, normally you are allowed to discuss your T times (Split times) in the thread but not allowed to discuss your final lap time. Then when the deadline is near (1 week from when it started) you PM Kent your final time/ division/ name, and he posts up the results at the deadline sorted by your divisions.

If you have any other questions don’t be afraid to ask, but I suggest you check out the WRS archive to see how the GT3 races where run and to see what types of combos we ran. In total, WRS organized 106 Official races, spread over 2 years and 2 weeks.

Boombexus started it all, then Kent took over at week 52 or 53.

I'm sure you have some faster times than me.

Ok, back on-topic now, since Kent doesn't want times discussed here.
Kent, expect one from me tonight. I will reach my goal. :)
