Not sure what to say.

Trying to reply from jpec's view with a sense of sarcasm.

You'll have to excuse me for not intially reacting as you had hoped.
Please try and understand that I am actually offended by jpec's comments.

Just to put things in perspective...

Please take the time to check the titles on the pages all those links go to.
It's three different threads I started and if you hadn't seen them it might give you an idea of why I wouldn't take jpec's comments lightly.

Yeah, sometimes my posts can be rather confusing
I wouldn't worry about it Kent, I'm sure he didn't know you used to run the WRS. Perhaps he didn't even specifically mean to direct the comment solely at you, since there have been many times when someone said they didn't like a car (even though you didn't say that you hate the car).

I try, try, try, it's not working, try to countersteer to straighten the breast out.

Oh God. That was a typo. I'm the worst typist anyone has ever met. I have to proof read myself before posting. I guess I missed that. Thanks TLR.

lol, I prefer *not* to straighten a breast out....

You and I excel at typo-ing.

Any car that comes in this many colours gets my vote 👍
I'm rather fond of these Classics, was hoping for the Dodge Charger sooner or later, but this is well good, Thanks CFM 👍

T1 - 23.362
T2 - 48.468

Heres my splits so far,

I actually found the selection quite lacking.
It doesn't come in New Aluminum Metallic :)

After about 4 practice laps I ran what I consider a decent time, this car happens to be my kind of car tho. :sly:

Splits

0.23.279

0.48.403

This is a very smooth ride if you know how to sail...

Chris Criswell
Didn't wanna race on Dirt, And I'm not gunna race on Infineon with a freaking Super Bird either, see you next week maybe.

Chris, If you complain about it, then you're not fit to be racing here. Good drivers take whatever challenges are thrown their way.

J/K :)

okay, had a two hour session after uni and came out eith this

T1 22.709
T2 46.457

and i finished really well, which is where u make the most time up in this combo. just a few tips and how i did it:

use TCS (as much as i dont like doing it, u have to)
hit line at 180km/h and start turning in from out wide, tap the brakes midway somewhere, to drop down speed then acelerate and hit the inside apex, brake just b4 this apex ends, down to about 90km/h, and take the tricky left, making sure u get good exit speed.

for the next S bend, take the first in fourth (130km/h, and position the car suitably to take the next right in third (or fourth, not sure yet, but a speed of 112km/h will get u safely through)

hit T1, shift to fourth, then brake well early for the next right, which u have to cut through on the inside in third, making sure to avoid jumping too much in order to limit the effect of TCS, hence better exit speed.

for the next ****ty right, u have to brake somewhere in between the skid mark on the left of the track, and take it in third at around 70km/h, making sure, once again, to limit the effect of the TCS by not hopping the curb.

this section is critical, for the sbend, take the left in fourth making sure u get as far to the left as possible so u get a good run in to the next right, as u want all the exit speed as possible.

next corner catches me out often as its hard to judge when to brake, but take it at best, at 150km/h.

the last corner, which is by far the hardest, u brake (depending on how well u did the last corner) just b4 the start of the cones, and drop ur speed down to 60km/h, but take it in third, dont drop down to second, thats the best tip i can give u. have fun.

Great times and cool write up 👍

That's interesting - the last corner is the only one that I can do without messing up at all yet.

its the hardest in my opinion, cos its hard to get good exit speed, and i discovered that taking it in gear three, although it may seem ur going slow, u actually get superb exit speed, and u should hit the start/finish line at 180km/h if u do it right. note, in my lap, i did drift a fair bit, particularly around those s-bends, so thats why the DS2 is the best controller to use for this combo, my best T2 split was 46.213 but i lost it all in the sbend right. i think i'll submit this time cos, from now on, i have very limited playing time, in fact, its unlikely i'll play at all for the rest of the week, cheers people

Ok. 180km/h is = to 112mph, which is what I'm hitting the line at :)

okay, i'm happy with the time i did so far and i tried using gear 2 for the last corner, but it isnt faster, gear 3 is the way to go. also, the sbend b4 T1, take that in third, all the way. i will probably try some more on the weekend maybe, but untill then, i'm off

YEEEEHAW!!!

Great Combo CFM! 👍 Win lose or draw, I will enjoy every lap I get to run this week.

Brings back memories of this being the car I had to have as my first car when I was 16. Got a '69 Charger instead, being that I was making a whole buck ninety an hour back then. :)

Ran 5-6 laps. More later in the week.

T1- 23.069
T2- 48.266

Felt like lots of time to be had off that split. The car can be pushed. Just have to remember to transfer weight and get the car set up early. Holl01 is spot-on about last corner in third. The torque is down low in the band so it's what I would call a real stump puller. It won't bog out on ya. TSC is a must! I can see where DS2 would be better, but I just love the drive with a DFP. Rumble strips won't hurt you too much cause there's so much suspension and it's really soft, but if you put 2 tires over the curb and in the dirt on the fast right hander just before the last hairpin, you'll lose a lot of speed.
Can't wait to give it another go this weekend! Good luck to everyone, and have fun! These are fun cars! They really are! Really.... :D

Later

*rolls into the pits and pulls into his garage*

Okay, ran some sighting laps and a here are my times so far:

T1 - 0'23.492
T2 - 0'48.473

Not able to drop the hammer yet, still getting a feel for this car. Throttle control is key with this beast...

It sounds to me like most of the "no driving aids" clan are running TCS this week, am I the only one battling with the gas pedal?

Yay! I got to play for a partial hour!(was watching a movie at the same time, so I didn't get to fully concentrate...) So if I don't get to run later this week, (not having it anymore makes it hard to play!), I have at least something to toss up, unlike last week... :-\

Good luck everyone!

U arent. :grumpy:

I managed to have my internet removed yesterday, though its on for a moment now, so i didnt get to learn that you could use traction.
In fact i only knew about the Combo because Fryz told Me (thanx chippers) and i managed to do 10 laps this morning.
I slid round the penultimate bend once, on my second lap, throwing the Car around to test the grip limits, and Found My fastest way of getting round there.
Then i spent 3 laps trying to replicate it Cleanly, and in the end i gave up, and just did a relatively quick, perFectly clean lap tiMe, with very little traction loss at all.

If you can get the car into a slide for the long sweeping right hander before the final hairpin, whereby the LEFT hand side wheels hit the rumble strip on the RIGHT of the course as you slide, the car will understeer, but the course is wide enough to let you through, and this Could be the Fastest way in My opinion.
Of course, you spend more time hitting the wall after bouncing through the sand, but its all in the pursuit of excellence.

T1: 23.144
T2: 48.705

I hate the car, and i hate the track, so really, i wont be bothering this week.

:grumpy:

I see exactly what Todd tha Mod is up to with his combo's and i understand the angle he sees the WRS from, even more so now, as i read many people enjoying this more than any other combo, but it just aint for me.
This week he's Completely Flipped Methebird.

And what is it with all these Crazy Fashioned Monikers suddenly appearing all over the threads?

I thought that privilege was reserved for Cheeky Faced Muppets, like me.

Anyway, i may not see you around this week, so good luck to all, see you in the results.

VEXD out :grumpy: 👍

I'm slowly getting used to the car, especially using TCS (even though I'm not a big fan of those driving HIVs).

T1 - 23.787
T2 - 48.855

T1 - 23.298
T2 - 47.881

👍 CFM for mixing things up....

Having probs with the first corners and the first right hander after T1.
This is the worst piece of crap car ever, and i'm loving every minute of it... lol

problems with just the one corner then??? oh how hard you are suffering!
:boggled:

i realise your all big beefy men with rippling muscles able to firmly hold the mighty roar of this cumbersome machine, but what about us narrow footed- more agile than stocky built- women out here? :banghead:

i beg you CFM, please think of something a little more 'elequent' for next week!!!!

I've got a nice combo planned next week using a great handling race car with lotsa grip. In fact, the next three weeks could turn out really great if I get everything figured out.

One thing about the way that I am going to run the WRS is that we're not going to run the same type of races over and over. (I.E. hotlap with a race car). As you can all see I mix it up every week. There are going to be some races where you have to build a car within a certain budget, where you have to build a car with a certain p/w ratio, some battles where you can choose between 2 or 3 cars, multilap races with tire wear, maybe even a Mission hall event thrown in, etc. So if you don't like a particular combo, there will be something new the next week for you to try out.:) Stick around, you may become a great all-around driver and not even realize it.:sly:

P.S. @ VEXD, you've got too much time on your hands bro. ;)

Yes, just like we used for weeks 1,2,6, and 8. As in 45% of the races so far. Guess we never use good handling cars around here.

Lovin this combo this week CFM!

Gotta love those old muscle cars.I like how you can actually feel the powerband come in on the old brutes, you dont have that with the newer hi-tech cars.
