@CFM: Great, but please pick a car that doesn't require unlocking, or at least one that's unlocked early on. Running through I-A licenses for Week 8 to unlock S hurt my track time, and I'm only 40% in (haven't unlocked the Audi from Week 6 (I think?) either yet).

Much appreciated if you can take this into consideration

Starting the WRS hinders your progress in GT4. By doing this once in a while, you'll get closer to that 100% completition ever so slowly. :D

Since I've started the WRS, I've only progressed 1.2%.

Best to use your Maxdrive to copy off your own GT4 save ... then obtain the 99% save from here ... http://www.thewrongkey.com/shrapse/Dion/GT4/94%.max

Copy back and that's it !

Thanks to Small_Fryz for helping out !

Yeah I've noticed :irked: I skipped last week and managed 2 short enduros and a couple of short series events. I don't mind if the car can be purchased for, let's say, under a million credits, as I can sell some stuff and it won't affect my game as I have a backup save, but if I have to complete some 10 race championship or get all gold in S license then that's gonna take some time. As it is I only have a few short hours to put into the WRS every week :(

EDIT: @kragbees: yeah, I forgot about that, you mentioned it the other day. Only problem is I don't really want to see all the cars I haven't unlocked yet. I avoid car lists like the plague, ruins the surprise factor for me.

This is the worst piece of crap car ever, and i'm loving every minute of it... lol

I will agree, it's a "double-tapered-brown-trout" (think about it awhile) around corners, but man oh man this car was awesome.

When I was about 9 years old the neighbor across the street had a Plymouth Road Road Runner (orange, black striping). It was a real treat to see it coming down the road... all rumbly throaty, cubic inches, shaking, quaking. The thing looked like a hundred miles an hour just sitting there. Anyway, he took all us kids for a ride pretty much anytime we asked and our parents let us. I'll never forget the feeling of becoming part of the seat under acceleration. It was scary and fun and made a huge impression on me. Love the muscle cars! Thanks to those who have written some fun to read posts about the car... wish I had one!

CFM.... GREAT GREAT GREAT COMBO!!!

Yes, just like we used for weeks 1,2,6, and 8. As in 45% of the races so far. Guess we never use good handling cars around here.

Yeah but I wasn't here for weeks 1, 2, and 6. :ouch: And all the cars we've used(since I started WRS) are good handling... except for the Accent from last week, that car handled just well as long as it wasn't being turned.

I agree with you about that Zeratul ... but I've allready seen them all haha. Then start B-Spec'ing dude ! Otherwise I think you're gonna lose out on quite a few races ...

Hmm...well I suppose I could just use the save and jump straight into the car we're using, ignoring (or trying to) all the others 💡 Well let's wait and see what CFM has up his sleeve first and then I suppose I can start moaning :D

The car should sound mean, but in the game, the sound is quite muffled and not throaty at all. I was expecting the stock-car V8 sound, and it's nothing close to that. Pretty disappointing. Does anyone else agree?

All of the sounds in GT4, although a nice improvement from GT3, are still not too good IMO. I think the rest of the game takes up alot of the PS2's power so this area suffers a bit. Or maybe PD just can't sample engine sounds worth a crap.

Hopefully the PS3 will really push the GT series to new heights all around, including sound quality.

haha but you're gonna browse thru like alot of pages ... but yes let's see what's up for next week ... either that, or do the DTM race like 3 times and get money to buy the car needed ...

@CFM : I totally agree with you on the car sounds not beeing up to scratch. I have a 5.1 Prologic 2 capable Denon amp and even on that it's not good, meaning a Civic Type-R does not sound like a real Civic Type-R for example.

But on the GT4 Prologue disc with the making of, one sees microphones in exhausts in all kinda crap ... so I don't know whether they just maybe used 1 sound for more than 1 car ... like 1 sound for all the Skylines and so on ...

Agreed, I think the game probably reflects more of the sound of the car as it came from the factory. But, I really can't say for sure, my memories aren't that clear. Anytime I see a muscle car in a show here in the midwest you can tell it's a V8 as soon as the key is turned. Gives me goosebumps.

Bumper cam sucks with older cars. Engine noise is almost gone. The Alpine 310 has no noise at all. I don't know when to shift.

Big misunderstanding between myself and Kent and the rest of you guys on this one. That post I made should really have been split into two paragraphs, the first part about Kent doing an awesome job this week (even though it should have been CFM; my bad) with the selection, and the second about the people not having to complain and to take whatever is served onto them. I extend my oppologies to anyone offended by this mistake. It was merely one big misunderstanding.

Happy Racing.

icemanshooter23
Come on now Jpec, show Kent a little respect here. Can't we use our right to free speech around here anymore? I'm sure CFM isn't going to take offense, Kent did mean it in a deragatory way towards him, just the combo. Cut the man some slack, imagine how many complaints he's gotten in his career ;). Maybe criticism about a combo can help CFM make choices on other combos for future races 💡

He shouldn't race in the WRS for saying this???

 Are you serious?

The funny part is that I was actually agreeing with him--this race isn't worthy of complaints. It is a challenge, but challenges must be met. That's all I was really trying to say (I dunno how it got worded the way it did...).

holl01: thanks a bunch for your hints. The hairpin is definetly the one where a lot of time is won or lost, besides the 3 combos of left/right bends..........
I think it s great that you are giving out some really usefil hints that early in the competition and that you are not afraid that you even might lose the week due to this....(however hot604boi, Werner and the rest of the Div1 crew will be on your heels anyway...).shows good sportsmanship and spirit !So thanks again !

I might run this one but I don't think I have the car in my garage (GT4 garage that is).

Is the car in arcade mode from the start or do you have to win the Classic Muscle Car Championship?

Hope someone else hasn't asked this question already but i skimmed over the thread and didn't see anything. 👍

I don't know,

I miss one week, and suddenly i loose my d2 status and controller type on the un-official leaderboard......... :grumpy:

Have adjusted sig so it's easier to spot for whoever is doing it at the minute. :D

You know, it's REALLY hard to be sarcastically funny in text, never mind!

Extremly agree with you there CFM. If I had to choose, I'd say the sounds in GT2 had the most "real" sounding cars. Nothing really beat the sound of the muscle cars running all out with only stock parts in GT2. Of course GT2 is also my favorite overall. Just because of the HP restricted races and the challenge that provided. Granted almost every race in that game can be won with a Nissan Skyline V-Spec[R]. But it was still a great game.

There are going to be some races where you have to build a car within a certain budget, where you have to build a car with a certain p/w ratio, some battles where you can choose between 2 or 3 cars
SUHWHEAT! Hopefully I can get my hands on a game long enough to take advantage of this... (CFM, I'm going to be out of town from the 28th of June to the 10th of July, so don't do anything fun during that time, :sly:) Haha.

Anywho, for this week's race, you won't get anywhere unless you're driving the Vitamin C. It's all about the Vitamin C yo. Orange kicks BUTT!

TCM is on, and yeah, I hate it too, but whatever...

Here're my splits from my quickie session yesterday, decided I wanted to post them...

T1 23.808
T2 48.632

You do have to do the Muscle Car Championship, the last series in the American Events section. You can buy a new classic muscle car and beat it real quick like. Shouldn't take you more than an hour to get the money to buy the car and tune it a little bit to be able to smoke everyone. Good luck!

I'm glad others agree with me about the sound. And you're probably right about the game using up so much power that there wasn't much left for detailed sound.

The only cars that I've found sound somewhat awesome are the 787B and the Takata Dome NSX JGTC. All other engine notes pale in comparison to those, even the F1 car.

I'm not complaining, I don't have to race the week if I don't want to.

Hopefully next week will be a Minolta at Mid-Field, I'd be looking forward to that.

@ CFM. what you have planned for the next few weeks sounds fantastic. it'll give us all chance to do more than just practise our racing skills, but also complete skills needed for gt. a large part of the game is being able to change and replace parts of the car to improve its performance.

also Nat will be able to paint them all purple! :sly:

In previous weeks I've done my fair share of low-end moaning ... decrying the car or the track (or both!), but it was during the MNP Skyline event that I was struck with somewhat of an epiphany.

Yes, you don't have to race if you don't want to, but ultimately the fun is racing ESPECIALLY if you don't want to. I have not only advanced my game because of the WRS, but I have added cars to my garage that I would normally not buy, and experienced driving them when I'd normally just pass on by.

By getting over the hurdle of the intial "UGH! What the heck is this boat on 4 wheels?", I almost always start to love the challenge of the event, the learning curve involved and the rewards that come from tackling these and the new experiences they offer.

Add to this that CFM cannot - and will not - ever satisfy everyone by offering a weekly challenge that the whole WRS thinks KICKS FREAKING ASS, and really the guy deserves way more credit than a bunch of moaning (and remember, I'm decrying myself there, too).

If he can come up with an imaginative challenge and a change of pace everyweek, then I - for one - really appreciate it and the effort he has to put forward. I won't be moaning about any combinations and events in the future, simply because every race, every combo, every car and track, have their fair share of challenges and while I may not be up to them, by running that week I'll be sure to atleast learn a thing or two and that's what the whole WRS is about to me :P

So thanks CFM for everything that you do and the ongoing struggle you endure to come up with new and interesting events every week!
