Run a fe... actually I ran a lot more laps...

1'03.608

Feel like I've hit the brick wall of talent, face first so I'll probably submit this one.

It's true about red being faster. ;)

Got 5 hours of WRS'ing planned for tomorrow, before the flight :D

I really didn't expect being able to put anything anytime... But this combo sounds delicious. Got the power-figures all written down for the 'Net-less house.

Nice to see red cars being used...

Ive improved my time, but i aint got a 1'02, and thats where im staying, cos i cant be bothered trying to get the red car to turn in on the final right hander.

Here's a very brief VEXD lap if anyone cares:

I cant give gears, cos the cars have different ratios and i may give away what colour the car is, so ill say flat out down the straight, drop speed on the first right hand kerb in a straight line diagonally left across the track towards the second part of the corner, take the appropriate gear (whatever it is) and run in tight and back out wide onto the last bit of red/white/turquoise kerb on the left.
Use all the kerb on the next left and stay as left as possible to flatten the angle for the next right, which you should lift off, and re-apply to make it round.
Flat through the next left which is slightly uphill, then use as much kerb as possible and lift off for a late apex in the right hander which tightens as you go.
Flat round the next left, and cut the kerb into the final section, lifting off if need be to get the red car to rotate, then run out towards the grass for an instant before lifting off and making the final long right as tight an inside line as possible to keep the lap time low. A bit like they do at canada in F1 by coming across the straight to save a thousandth or two.

The key to a fast lap is to carry as much speed as possible round the first staggered right, then maintain it throughout the lap, never touching your brake, whatever colour your car is, and get a tight inside line through the final turn and straighten the car up as soon as possible, to allow it to gain speed quicker. Remember people, if a car has any steering lock applied, its accelerating slower than if it has none.

Good luck to all in this frustrating combo.
Hats off to Sjaak though for balancing the red car with all the other red cars so well. 👍

Mr.P that loox sick, wont be long before weve lost you to PS3 land :ouch:
Have you played super rub a dub? :sly:

VEXD
:irked:👍

Firedragon, I don't want to watch your lap because it isn't too hard to figure out what car you are driving based on shift points and some other basic observations. The whole point of this particular combo is NOT knowing what car will be the fastest. I don't really mind you posting an unverified lap or split time but the vid is a little unneccessary.

I agree, it's like the whole lap is built from the speed you can carry from the first set through the second. No matter what color you chose each car is a torqueless turdbox and needs momentum to carry it up the slightest incline.

I am ever-so-slightly chipping away, tried all four boxes and found one simply aggravating, one just not fast enough and two I can get within a wheel of one another at the finish line. Somewhere there are three tenths of a second that I really want to find.

LU up to post 71.

got a 1.04.295 last night - in a red car off course otherwise you seem to be chanceless here.
to jj, i am too using the manual (pretty unique for me) and no aids. now i only need .13 to get even with div3 nr. 2.

woohoo - no more mr. dlbf so come on, peter, give it your best shot!

Somewhere there are three tenths of a second that I really want to find.

Dont we all!

Thing is, after hours of touring round, getting the first corner wrong, then just coasting till you cross the line, and try for 1'02 again, it still doesnt get any closer till all of a sudden, you pull a better line round the last turn and then watch your ghost staying with you.
It such a small victory every time, im running out of patience.

well done Mr.P and Kyle, you guys got some fast times very quickly...👍

must be the wax on your red cars that gets better airflow.

:irked:👍

Come on guys, I mentioned it before, but the BLUE one is the fastest!!! Both Mr P and I are in it(well, I'm not sure if he's in THE blue one, but I think he mentioned that he's in the blue one...).

:sly:
Got 5 hours of WRS'ing planned for tomorrow, before the flight :D
Lucky!!! I may do just that as well(not 5 hours, but at least squeeze in another session to go with my first), although I'll be taking a "nap" before my flight... Where're you headed? I'm off to Hawaii for my sister's wedding!!!

I just got back not too long ago from my cousin's wedding... I'm SUPER tired, but I drank some Mt. Dew to keep me up for the hour long drive home.

And thanks VEXD!

Come on guys, I mentioned it before, but the BLUE one is the fastest!!!

You, sir, are very right indeed :D

Fair to say, my first time was actually done in the red one :). I used that one because it's an automatic and I only have a drivers license for automatics (in GT anyway :P). Tried it again this morning, but couldn't get a better lap...

Then I thought I'd take a walk on the wild side, and I got into the little blue car. Same make and modell as the red, but this one had a manual gearbox. Now, I DID get a faster lap, but because I really suck at shifting manually, it didn't make much of a difference. Only shaved 0.05 from my time, and still couldn't get into the 1.03-times.

But then, as I was taking a break in the pits, another blue car flew past on the straight. Other make and modell, and I thought it looked pretty fast. So when the guy pitted, I asked him if I could have a go in his blue car. He lended me his car, and I was only on my second lap when I turned a 1:03.759 :D

So, yeah! Blue is defenitely faster, you just have to know which blue car to get :dopey:

I didn't knew how it would be work out,the "no talk" about the car.

But sofar you all do a fine job with lots of great post.

Pleasure to read and full with humor.👍

Thanks.

and I was only on my second lap when I turned a 1:03.759 :D

Great run! 👍

With that time at the moment it will put you to first place in Div 3.
Beats me by nearly 0.1 secs. :grumpy:
Put's the pressure on for my session tonight. :nervous:

@ Steven & Peter - C'mon that's two of us, now let's see what you've got! ;)

Oh, poo.

I go ahead and submit and then think "I know, I'll try a black car."

 = 1:03.653

But, on the upside, a tried a blue  and got a time of 12:37.931 Don't think I like that one.

My most consistent technique for the first/second corner was to keep accelerating up the left side of the track until you can just see the rumbles on the right, slowly sweep the car over to meet them then as they just meet the bottom-right of the screen, jab the brakes (possibly down a gear, depending on what you're driving) then accelerate while turning in. The car scrubs off to the left but because I wasn't on the brake, it's not too drastic. As the car is approaching the left hand rumble strip, it's another dab on the brake with an almost certain downchange, tip-in and balanced throttle to regain a line at >60mph and try to clip the right hand and then left hand rumbles in turn.

For the first of the complex, I'm taking as much rumble as possible without grasscutting, balanced throttle at ~80% for the right with a bit of rumble, across to the right/middle afterwards, not too much rumble on the uphill left, then for the tightening right, I'm trying to enter without letting the tail move about, maybe a tiny lift until the car is settled on the righthand rumble, then a sharp lift and a touch of grass to get the speed down to <70mph to allow a full throttle exit to the last left (touch of rumble there) without destabilising the car.

The last corner is blind faith and full throttle across the first apex on the right, then a stab on the brake, both right tyres over the first grass/kerb and then balanced throttle in the right until I know the car's not going to scrub out across the track. Min speed here is 60 if I can. I found that if I approached the last right with a hard flick instead of brakes, it was great fun, but I couldn't keep a good enough control of overall speed, revs/traction and good line. That, and dropping into the left-hand kitty litter got to be mighty frustrating.

Roll on next week!

V.

Memcard is wiped... Still, two cars are freely available. I used a white one.

Don't laugh at it - a 1'04.060. :(

Going slower, I was faster.

1:03.262

Edit:

Going faster, I got faster (barely):1:03.247

Thought I'd give this a try. I'm usually abysmal with slow cars on technical or now that I think about it, any tracks. But havent' completely failed so far..

1'03.573

Went back for a few more laps and it is tight for me to get into the 1'02's .. I ran a 1'02.985 after a good 40 minute session but upon scrutiny it was too close to call coming off the rumbles before the last turn :(

so went back and ran another 30 mins chasing the close call and managed a definite clean one at last!

... 1'02.964

I will leave it at that 👍 replay saved and will submit this time in the grey car :P
Cheers
Ron.

Punk! I was working at it for a while and then I got tired... I can see where you're at, but I can't reach it!!! It's so tough!

I'll probably keep at it for another half an hour or so. Or I might take a nap, didn't get enough sleep last night. :-\

Edit: I realize sometimes it appears I'm a bit angry. I just want to make sure you all know I'm not. :P Haven't tried again yet, ended up watching a movie. I may have another go after I finish packing, or I may not. I'm going to email my final replay to someone to post it up for me next week, regardless.

Meh, never got around to playing again after all. My earlier session today had me right on top of my ghost, with one or two laps looking to be a tiny bit faster, but that last turn or something else would always nip me in the butt.

So I'm submitting this time now. Have fun guys! Hopefully you won't ALL pass me before the week's over... :nervous:

congrats ron - you're the first to break the 63" barrier, you alien you. LU'd for you especially (up to post 88).

to sam - you might want to check your spelling in that sweet picture of yours mate :)
and off course you're not giving away your car of choice in your picture ...

retried all cars yesterday and found they all, like metar said, have their pros and cons that lead to about the same performance.
since our laggard laptime differences are so small i will retry tonight to see if i can find half a second here or there.

Good call on the spelling. And I wouldn't dare give my car away... it's just that with all this talk of red cars I figured I better include one in the photo. And the Lupo had the nicest red? Yeah...

Well, I had a session with this a few days back, mostly to check out all the cars. To my surprise most evenly matched, so I settled in on one and ran a few 1'04.2xx. I did not care for the combo much so I let it go.

Jumped in my NOT red one and ran a few, I'm liking it more now, realizing throttle control and proper lines are a must. Both of wich I'm stinky with :dopey:

1'03.916

I'm gonna run a few more today and then submitt. Another good race idea Sjaak 👍

EDIT: 1'03.701 I might have one more shot this afternoon, another .2 would be magic.

Celebration time again!

I just hit 1'03.630 in the blue one... or was it the red one? I dunno!

I'm just happy with my time. :)

This took me a few hours to get so my hat comes off to you guys running quicker.

Edit: Time Submitted!

Like the combo this week. :)
Good fun trying the different cars.

anyway I got 1.03:729

Been trying to beat it the last few days, but no luck.

Improved a bit to 1'03.216 - and that's me done. Time submitted.

Excellent combo, really enjoyed it 👍

Not much time this week, but hoping this will fare well in div 3. 1:04.349.
