Ron - You might help make this interesting. I have some new ones for you to chase. :sly:

17.391
33.771
52.398

Kevin

Kevin, I didn't think my 52.7xx would hold up for very long. :sly: Just means I have to get back on it in the a.m. Having said that, I realize you are quickly approaching that 51.xxx mark and I doubt I can get there. :grumpy: Must admit to having surprised myself so far on this one though.

As for Kenny, He's been running great and improving every week. I too would hate to lose him from DivIII but if he gets promoted he's certainly earned it with a consistent performance. Bravo I say.

Another 30 Min in and this left chicane T1 I think is where I'm behind, everywhere else feels good, anyone have any tips? Maybe the uphill right too, I've been shifting into 5th thru there, should I keep in 4th as this thing takes .357632 seconds to shift? :P

I struggle there too (but the chicane before t3 is my demise on this one) it's a mater of braking a bit early for me on that left so I can go left right real quick like, then the right, I'm shifting to 5th also, trying to time it so I don't need a lift but it has not happened for me yet :dopey:

17.119 (16.999 and a few 17.0x)
33.040 (no 32.x yet)
50.881

I have not been to bed tonight as I was busy on COD4 and then I was heard the PS2 calling to me to have some laps on this :P 2 hours later I beat my old time, my new save has .. 16.939 / 32.511 / 50.180

I saw a few 32.4's at T2 but the braking point for the next damn turn is so precise that I mess it up 9 out of 10 attempts by braking too late 👎 I always seem to take it much better when I am behind my ghost :dopey:
ah well! will keep on chiseling away at it anyway 👍

Naughty naughty, Ron. You wouldn't catch me doing something like that. :sly:

As it happens, I sneaked upstairs for a quick nap at 7.30pm last night and didn't wake up until 1am when the wife started kicking me to stop snoring. I then went downstairs for a quick drink but fell alseep on the couch until 6am. Now I'm awake, I now have to face the onslaught of getting the kids off to school on time. :nervous:

It's good to see you enjoying this combo. 👍

haha! I thought you never slept .. I know they say the older you are the less sleep you need ... but going by the amount of times I see you still up during the middle of the night I had a rough guess your actual age would be about 700

Gotta sort the kids out here also, you wanna see them in the morning ... they are like the walking dead for 30 mins to an hour :P

Catchya in a bit on COD4 maybe ;)

The question is not one for the steward, as he will not be able to police WRS'ers doing that anyway, but it is more a question for yourself. No offence meant.
Thank you David and none taken. I was wondering how other racers are coping with this temptation but it already didn't feel very good tbh. Has anybody else got a view on this?

Leaderboard updated with great new times from Kenny, Aaron and of course all the aliens 👍 but Michael you surely can do better than that? ;)

I recall asking Sjaak a similar question on the 3-lapper at Laguna. It was a full replay situation in which you see the beginning of the run before the start/finish line. His basic response was no. I agree with others that it is up to us to police individually. As for you Steven, thanks for being honest and bringing this up as no one would see you off track. This is a honest community of people that deserve honesty.

EDIT: Nice avatar Steven. Is that Lettermans new ride?

Thanks but :) I think it actually would show in the replay would anyone want to scrutinize. I guess I'll obligate myself to erase and rerun for a hot lap :scared: [T's set back to previous]

The car? No, that's the new BMW M3 GTR that's been designed to enter the ALMS series in 2009. 485hp, 500nm, 1150kg. Check out this.
Letterman? You prolly mean Jay Leno? I don't know if Mr. Big Chin will have one but I guess so because his goal in life is to have a version of every special car in the world.

Right, what on earth am i doing wrong?

Mr P? any advice?

Im using 420 gearing, manual, and tcs (reluctantly), im hitting all my apexes, missing all my kerbs, getting the thing to pivot every now and then, just how i want it to, most of the time swearing at it cos it seems like a different car everytime i drive it, and im at least a second down by T3. :grumpy:

I know im old and slow, but im not that old and slow, and i must have done 40 laps by now, with no improvement.

Ive got the first corner down, have the odd hiccup with the first chicane, manage my way round the long right, nail the gas pedal into the uphill sweeper, and get the pinpoint braking dead right for the second chicane, most of the time, and when i feel like ive done good, i cross the line at 51.3xx. :banghead:

Can anyone tell me which option i didnt take that makes the car faster please?

super softs, check
top speed 420, check
+20% HP, check
-10% weight, check
TCS on, check
mental-long gearchange, check
power-dependant swerve, check
im missing something....

:irked:👍

update

t1/ 0.17.114
t2/ 0.33.671
t3/ 0.52.013

420, manual, tcs on (that gearbox is damn bad for that car in general even on manual..)

More runs this late afternoon.

17.148
33.690 :ouch:
51.536

I hope to see that BMW at Lime Rock when it comes around Steven.

Another 30 min this afternoon before I grab some grub. I'm very pleased with my 2.5 hours I have put in so far. Congrats on the new WRS Qualy record Hekke (did I spell that right?) smokin' time here too dude!

Cleaned up the mess I left behind from last time 👍
Top Speed at 410, I seem to get more needed torque with 410 vs 420
T1 - 17.068
G2 - 32.746
T3 - 50.432

Again, truly one of the best combos to date imho, thx again Jerry!
LB Updated.

Oh that would be nice. I'm thinking of taking a trip up there with a friend this summer. I live in Philly but grew up about 20 mins. west of Hartford and haven't been to that track since I was a kid.

Back on topic...made a couple more runs the other day and am not seeing much improvement. Will try again this weekend with TCS again. :indiff:

RUUUUUSTY. I'm going to get screwed tomorrow. ~20 minutes in, down to a 51.9xx.

That is unless we race at Capitan 👍 Can't wait can't wait!

Jerome

I thought I would be the next big embarassment and took TCS off and to my avail, I was seriously flying... literally :scared:

So I thought about for a minute. Then I took back the gearing to 420.. Kept the TCS off and thankfully improved.

17.118
33.410

Right, what on earth am i doing wrong?

Mr P? any advice?

Not sure what to say David? I will have a stab at a run through anyway ...

All I know is that with this specific combo you have to really nail every bend with optimum exit speed or it losses tenths everywhere! an example would be braking and getting on the gas with a great exit speed on turn 1 alone .. my success rate there is about 1 in 5 attempts to get near a 16.9 T1.

1, Find the braking point for turn 1 and drop from 6th to 5th gear .. start rolling into the turn and drop to 3rd gear and take the turn full throttle all the way through! gearing up twice heading towards T1

2, Brake early at the right hand side of the track dropping from 5th to 3rd gear and find a nice easy line through gearing up again to 4th on the way out.

3, The sweeping uphill right hander after T1 and before T2 is more difficult! .. my success there is about 1 in 5 attempts again getting the car to hug the bend, as I need to slightly lift off the throttle for a millisecond before the uphill part and then gear up from 4th to 5th midway in the turn and hope it grabs it nicely and not go off track!

4, Braking early and precise at the far right side of the track on the approach for the next left hander before T2, Taking the turn in 3rd gear I need to get on the throttle very quickly and avoid touching the raised kerb at the inside of the turn and take a natural wide line with full acceleration to cross T2 at around 32.5 region .. gearing up to 4th .. then 5th.

5, Braking for the tricky right hand chicane before the final dash is my main problem part .. I try to find a line where I approach it to the left hand side of the track and as close to the rumbles without touching them and when I put the very early brake on and try to slide over the inside rumble strip of the turn and quickly stab the brake just after it and power around the turn in 3rd gear and throttle all the way up the hill past T3 avoiding all rumbles on the way, you should be in 6th gear before the final straight!
Seriously though! I'm no real authority on this track, as you can see I'm still way off Hekke's speed and most of it is the last section! A few things with the car is to gear up pretty early at all times and stay off the rumbles at all times .. and every tight bend is done in 3rd gear! sorry if that doesn't help mate! other than sending you a replay thats about as much info as I can supply for now :)

Well, as Cmir has indicated you'd better keep your concentration on this one. I just can't seem to do that today. I've seen a 17.1xx and 33.8 and couldn't bring either of them to the finish line. I don't know how Hekke, Hugo and Mr. P continue to do it week after week but, my hats off to them that's for sure.:cheers:

We'll give it a go tomorrow and see what happens. Ron great run down on your lap. Reading it and doing it however are two different things. I can sit here and tell you I'm doing exactly what your suggesting..........just not at the same lap speed.:scared:

I've already submitted my time, though I could find a couple more tenths. It would be very difficult because the car corners well but wants to stay off the racing line. I could laugh at my main straight replays where the car doesn't drive in a straight line. Then I miss corner 1 most times due to being tired from holding the wheel for 1.5km. Maybe that's why I can't get a 0'16 T1. :banghead:

I think Ron pretty much nailed the lap run down perfectly 👍
To me, Ron, you´re as much an authority, regardless of tracks and cars we´re running, as the hsh´s, Hugo´s and what not :cheers:
Still, it´s kinda awkward though not to be able to back up ones laptime efforts in "realtime" with a replay as I´m used to.

@gtbadboy... hats off mate... that´s just gotta be the improvement over the past year for sure :cheers:

... btw, it aint over just yet.

Cheers, Hekke.

Cheers guys, I had some spare time on my hands earlier and it's always good too see if I can write my lap down and mentally drive it via text step by step :sly:
also Thanks for the comments Hekke, I would like to say your right in all your words but some things are just beyond my abilities ;) the day I can race as good as yourself and Hugo .. I will do a 10 win streak against you both and then retire the champ haha  but as it stands I have more chance of winning the lottery without buying a ticket ;)

Good luck to all with this one and my last splits will probably be my final ones ... not sure yet! Ok off to play COD4 and kill all the rambo's :P
Laters

Hear, hear!

luxy update EDIT updated up to post 90 93

I improved a great deal by doing two things... Only changing gears once and getting rid of the traction control... I noticed that this car was loosing about 7 - 10km/h (4-6mph) through its gear changes. So I kept it in 4th through the tight corners and only changing to 5th in between tight corners and avioding 6th gear untill the straight.

Obviosuly the only thing mission is the talent to mix it up with the leaders. :(
