Sure wish I could put three of my best together!

I hear you badboy. Unlike the D1 bunch (and most of D2), I know I can always better my times. It is proved by others times. The problem is do I have the skills to put it all together for just that one lap, let alone lap after lap. I am usually happy with my results week to week and I'm sure my skills are getting better. Just last week I made my greatest improvement with the way I use the wheel. I noticed on replays that I am turning the wheel too much, thus scrubbing speed most if the time. Since I have become aware of this I try to concentrate on my cornering a lot more. Next I need to work on my footwork. I also leave my foot on the accellerator while braking as Sjaak explained somewhere here on the gtplanet. Though I'm sure we are here to mostly have fun, for me its still a learning experience. With people like Mr P and Hugo who give detailed instructions, videos and/or opinions, is there a better way to learn. In time we will get better badboy.

I couldn't agree with you more! Every time I look at a replay and see a little "tire smoke" I know I'm losing valuable 10ths'. When we have the opportunity to watch one of the "alien" replays it's so darn smooth it seems effortless. (we know better of course)
I think what gets frustrating for me now is I get a brief glimpse of what I am capable of, like the 17.1's this week but it is fleeting. I know I can do it but for the moment it's like waiting for lightening to strike eh? When I first came here it was Sjaak who taught me that a manual tranny was far better than an automatic. Aurora, Hekke and MrP along with Hugo and several others have always been supportive and encouraging with their suggestions and advice. Yes it is a game and we should be having fun, but we should also try to imagine we are in a real car IMHO. Great post Kenny!!:)

EDIT: Well if you were to tell me last Monday that I would have been able to turn the following lap I would have laughed. Like our friend "Chuck" always says: " there's no substitute for wheel time!" and good sound advice!!

17.353 (still seeing 17.1's now and again)
33.567 (I've seen a 33.3)
51.897

420/TCS I tried running without tcs and I was way over my head with this car. In watching the replay there are two spots I can work on (scrubbing off. See Kenny's note above) I will work on it later today. Shaping up to be a very interesting week in DivIII boys!

Thanx for the write-up Ron, ive been drinking the past couple of days, so havent gotten back to this thread!

It appears i am doing nearly everything you are, but i think ive nailed it down to the chicane at T1, and the following right hander where im losing my speed, all thanx to your run-through.

Greatly appreciated.

Whether it gets me into a position to even bother submitting though, remains to be seen.;)

Grumpy as ever!
:irked:👍

If you're using a wheel, I don't think it's that difficult to do that right hander fast and full throttle. Using 420 gearing, enter the corner wide (to the left) and midway through the corner, shift to 5th gear and steer right, get as close as possible to the inside curbs and avoid touching them. Exiting that corner, you'll come very close to the grass at the left side of the track, but keep steering (have confidence) and you won't touch the grass.
The exit of this corner does not make the next corner harder than it is, it's still easy to get to the right side of the track before the braking point. When you brake, you should be over 300kmh.

New splits for me. It took me 3 more sessions to improve at all on the last splits I posted. I can now run 17.5 T1's with consistency and see the occasional as low as 17.1.

17.450
33.755
51.885

Kenny I can see your tail lights and I am trading a little paint with Ron, from the looks of things. :sly:

Going to try and get that right hander before T2 faster with Carlo's advice in the post before mine. I am using a little lift and a little brake right now, and it is definitely costing me some time and I am maybe 1 for 10 on my T2's, which is making improvement very difficult.

Hopefully will have some new splits this evening.

17.230
34.001
52.168

Pretty much locked in at 420 w/TCS. Man, I cannot get a solid run on this one. Figured out last sector pretty much and gained nearly a second on lap compared to last splits posted but the 2nd sector is still baffling me. I know it can be done full throttle but I always lose it out the back-end today.

17.158
33.373
51.528

17.092
33.339
51.491

Probably where I'm gonna stand unless I feel like I can break 50.xxx.

Final post of t´s and luxy update before the end of another great combo week and switching over to sweet and slow Midfield. Tried the no TCS and high gears option suggested earlier but my brain apparently is not up to that yet :nervous: still a great week tho the new job that is coming up is eating away much of my spare time.

17,639 / 34,352 / 53,985

Jerome, thanks for the help on luxy this week

Steven - Thanks for the Luxy update! I think you missed Badboy's edit on his last post. I'd rather not have him close enough to wave :scared:, but may as well be sure the board is accurate.

Well working on my last session tonight. I missed sessions on Friday and Saturday so I was a little slow at the beginning of the session. I picked up rather quickly hitting my old marks but not improving. After dropping the gear down to 410 I hit my current splits.

t1-17.161
t2-33.216
t3-51.182

I'm feeling it now. Hopefully on to the 50.9xx's! That was my weeks goal.

No problem at all mate! GL in the results all!

Jerome

I just keep understeering on exit, can't control the throttle well enough to improve, but I picked a better line into the final chicane and ran a decent lap.

17.008
32.734
50.588

The 90's version of this track is just awkward IMHO. I hate that final mid-corner chicane. Ugly.

Time submitted, with splits basically the same as my last post.

Great combo, but I sure hit the wall early on this one.

First week back in after two months piking ...

17.168
33.616
51.766

Surprised it was that fast given that I only got two one hour sessions to run this, and it's been early December since I last drove anything but a Minivan :-) There's hope for me yet.

Decided in the end to get out the soldering iron (pronounced sod-er-ing in this country for some odd reason) and fix the old G25 so I ended up not even opening the box on the new one.

Sod-er-ing has a somewhat different meaning in the countries you & I hail from, doesn't it?!!!! :scared:

Good to see you back around! Will be organising another SFGTP soon, so I'm glad you're all fixed up and practising again! 👍

All fixed including Ron's t's - thanks for noticing Kevin!

EDIT decided to help out the steward a bit by doing a picture of Fuji. It was taken at the spot where this week the winner spot will be decided -at the final chicane of the track.
As I recall well the last time I submitted a pic the steward requested not to put any text in the picture so there's no 'WRS Weeke 146 Results' added.

Time submitted.
I tried for another 1/2 hour this morning to put together the perfect lap for me. To no avail though. T times as stated in luxy.
Off to Mid-field.

Looks like esh may have edged by me on this one.

I was ready to give up on this race until about 2PM yesterday. I still didn't manage, like you, to put up a really solid lap as will be reflected in my replay. Wasn't able to get the long right hand sweeper at full throttle and kept over shooting the hard left-hander after that and couldn't get better exit speed. Would have had T2 times @ 32.xxx for sure if I could.

I was ready to throw my DFP against a wall this morning so it's time to move on. 💡

Glad to know I'm not the only one! I started rallying in the grass a couple times after running off track in one of 3 places lap after lap. When I finally got the T2 and entry into the last chicane I really needed, I ran the car off on the right hand chicane exit. To top it all off, my left shift paddle started acting up and would randomly shift me to the lowest possible gear with one touch. :banghead:

I ended up submitting a lap that was a little slower than my fastest time, but a much prettier lap than my fastest. I know there are no style points, but it's nicer to turn in a run without curb hops and wheel spin!

Off to Mid-field and some much needed breathing.

But I like sparks.

You would not appreciate my submitted lap. If esh weren't so close I would have sub'd at time that was .068 sec slower and a lot nicer to look at. Not like the sub'd lap looks awful, but there is a lot of tire smoke and sparks. I think the sparks go about 15 feet in the air on the last sweeping right, which is the only time I hit it all week. Go figure :indiff:

Time submitted and my last splits posted still stand in my best save.

Good luck to all

Mmmm, I like this new 9PM deadline :)

About 20 minutes with TCS on (booooo) gets me this:

T1: 17.173
T2: 33.254
T3: 51.283

Watching the replay I can see time being lost all over the place, but I'll be damned if I can beat it.. Ah the curse of being a non-alien :)

And welcome back Strop! I was starting to think you weren't coming back! :P

There's a 9pm deadline?

Ahhhh..... no matter.... i just wasted an hour of my life trying to get this inconsistent, annoying, stupidly gearboxed, wobbly on the straight, mother hubbardin bee otch of a car to do one clean lap i was happy with, like one under 1'04. And i couldnt.
To top it all off, i managed a 1'04.010 on my last attempt, and that just threw me over the edge and i turned it all off before i broke something.
I can see where the time is, but no matter how hard i try, i cannot get it to avoid EVERY kerb and stop at EVERY braking point in one lap.
GL all who can. 👍
