I finally grabbed a suspension setup that I'm comftable with. Just need to fiddle with the gears a bit more.

I'll have to check my settings tonight-I used the "B" settings where you have to add each part that you have purchased, I know my HP figure was correct. I'm thinking I didn't switch to N2 tires-I'm usually not very quick early in the week.

I have to wonder ... you're always a lot quicker than me but if those times are true you're going to have to change your name to something beginning with 'H' :D

If I get into tuning a car, I do it one or two things at a time and usually kinda small increments and then chase my ghost and see if its easier or harder to keep up or pass. Its a long a painful process for me as I honestly don't understand what I'm adjusting :dunce:, so I only go on instinct when I drive the car and feel the difference. Ahhh...the hours spent on GT3 tuning, the hours I shall never get back, lol.

Thanks strop ill keep that in mind lol :scared:

Well still aint got a clue how to set this thing up, never been good at tuning but i keep getting faster i guess its a step forward.

great first splits there Alex i aint got even close yet!

New Splits

T1 - 0'21.543
T2 - 0'38.818

...because you almost have to relearn everything and ignore real life settings...

As a suspension development engineer, you can imagine how crazy that drives me. Worse yet, I'm over 0.300 faster using the stock suspension than anything I've been able to come up with using the fully adjustable one. :banghead:

Because you'll learn absolutely nothing that way. That's why I'm a good tuner and you're not. It's as simple as that.
I just don't understand why anyone who bleats on about wanting GT-Mode all the time because they enjoy tuning, and yet, as soon as they get one, they go off and use somebody else's settings. The mind boggles, it really does.
This bleating bad tuner that won the last GT mode race in his class thinks differently and that's all there is to it.

LUXY update - superwally better checks his settings soon so I can update the board please?

First feeble attempts produced the following 1st clean lap:

22.137
40.754

Since I am admittedly no tuner I confess to "borrowing" my initial set up from Superwally and tickering from there.

Edit: Almost forgot, am I using the correct car because my Opel Speedster Turbo '00 is "Black?"

That may be so, but they are not your settings, they come from elsewhere and you've only tweaked them in order to satisfy yourself into thinking that you actually learnt something, when in fact, you haven't. And that's all there is to it. :dopey:

IEDIT:
have no problem with drivers using posted settings, but only if they are prepared to learn from them by trying to understand them. I do however, have a problem with seasoned drivers (who like GT-Mode) using settings from a tuning site when they should know how to tune after all this time. It proves that they have learnt nothing, if they do.

Can't exactly run this one as I don't have my PS2 handy on vacation right now, but I was intrigued by the preview of next week:

GT-Mode @ Twin Ring Motegi West (Short Course)

I think that short-lap combos can be fun, but Motegi West? Seems extremely simple, but then again, that might make it a battle for hundredths instead of tenths, and that could be interesting. I guess we're making up for the lack of recent GT mode by doing two in a row, huh?

Hate to interupt but even if he is useing someone else's settings and tweaking them to how he feels comfortable to the driving setting that he likes, dont that show that he is learning or even trying...and just useing the setting has a guideline to help him understand the aspect of the components?

People find it easier different ways. i myself aint got a clue what im doing when it comes to tuning, i tend to use my own setting from default and work my way step by step, even when i come up with better setting for my self i still dont understand how i got there lol

It is an easy course, and the main reasons for using GT-Mode for two weeks is to see how much drivers have learnt from this week by giving them a course that they don't need to worry too much about, in order for them to exercise what they learnt from this week.

Well, that was the plan. :grumpy:

Using someone else's settings, knowing how that guy managed to reach that setup, what he thought and tried to address, is the way to learn about tuning. Of course we learn a lot more trying to do it on our own, but sometimes a little help is good.

If he was learning from them, then he would be doing his own setups after all this time.

Another point:
How do you know if the settings that are borrowed are any good to start with? I mean, you could be starting with a complete pile of horse manure for all you know, and any tweaking by the recipient would be an improvement.

Please excuse me for mentioning this, but what you're actually saying in your post is that you have no clue about racing lines and how to drive a car fast properly. Skilled drivers don't make up time on the straights, but in the corners where they can maintain a higher speed than others. The keys to that higher cornering speed are throttle control and delicate steering, but mostly: not braking too late.
That isn't what I'm saying, at all. I don't know where you pulled that conclusion from my post. I never said anything about making up time on the straights either.

I haven't driven on n2 tires for over 2 years in gt4, so I'm speaking for myself, but I'm going through so much frustration because of how slowly I have to drive. Even my worst handling cars can corner faster than this (and I usually drive on n3 tires) , so I feel as if I'm having to learn a completely new game just to do this challenge.

It's hard to put my feelings into words, so this post and the other just aren't putting the point through well enough.

Basically, I'm not having much fun. I'm putt-putting around in this thing, trying to figure out how to get some of the nonexistent grip these tires have to offer.

How do we go in terms of Limited slip diff's and stuff, or transmissions?

Fully customizable on both?

EDIT: Or are all the non power upgrades optional or required?
Can someone clear this up?

Also, I'd like to know about the rollcage too.

I'm sure that a good driver if he did borrow the setting would know if there crap or not, even a person like myself how as not got a clue would see that, and if so if the recipient did tweak them as you say would be an improvement any how, so in the end it all works and there is no harm or foul done.

But one thing i do not agree with is copying the setting step by step and keeping them settings.

Isn't there numerous colour options for this car?

Not in my game save. I have one Opel Speedster Turbo '00 and it's black. There is a white one I can go buy but it is not listed as a "turbo."

The turbo for sale is the most god awful green you ever saw!!

Edit: there are color choices in "arcade" mode but I've only one to choose from in gt mode.

Yep - Mine is Green :sly::dopey: When I went to buy mine, I think there were about 10 colors, and I went with the one I think I will be able to see the best in the replays to understand whether or not I might have touched a wall here or there. :nervous:

What people should also note that everyone drives the car differently. My mate set a car up for him that worked for him, when I tried it I suffered horrid oversteer, but the inverse is true when he tried one of my cars he coped massive understeer.

So you should really adjust the car that suits your driving technique.

My name seems to be removed/missing from the LUXY?.. Was there yesterday.. :nervous:

After starting with a moderately good borrowed setup I started tweaking and came up with these not-so-bad-for-me-anyway-t's:

21.990 - 40.479 (Luxy updated immediately of course including Ron's splits)

Settings: 13-14, 85-95, 10-5-10-5, 2,5-1,5, -4/0, 4-7, brakes 2x24, lsd 5-5-5, tranny 6, tcs 7 (if I'm correct from memory).

This setup is VERY different from the one I started off with FYI. Still unhappy about the limited slip, the hardness of the springs and the angles of the wheels.

Can someone clear this up?

Also, I'd like to know about the rollcage too.

Vehicle Specifics:
  • Power: 284 bhp (in settings) 266 bhp (in replay)
  • Modifications: Oil change, Stage 3 Turbo power upgrade only, all non power upgrades, No Nitrous, No Wing
  • Tyre Type: N2‘s (NTSC = Standard Comfort) (PAL = Standard Luxury)

This means that your car must always be 284 bhp (in settings) 266 bhp (in replay) by adding the Stage 3 Turbo and doing an oil change.

you can add any mods to the car as long as it doesn't increase or lower you HP, no NOS, and you're also not allowed to add a wing.

So if you want to add the roll cage, add it. If you want anything, add it, but as long as it's not, NOS, wing, or any mod that increases or lowers your HP. 👍

"Perfect" I sense some frustration but, if you read the "modifications" the only thing available for power upgrades are "oil change and stage 3 turbo."

Tranny''s suspension and slip diffs are not "power" upgrades, and while I'm not the STeward I read that to mean they are fair game.

Edit: NEVER MIND!

EditII: Sphinx, you are correct, multiple colours available.......Sorry!!

Sphinx........please, answer me.

I'm sorry. I do have a life here and it also takes time to read every single word written in this forum. Imagine having to do that, Imagine reading every word in every post in every thread in case a question is directed at you.

It takes time. 👎
