Did about a hour last night with some messed up settings and a worn out car...

T1 33.414
T1' 26.710

Aids 0/0/1 and LSD standard. I'm really going to have to play with things I think.

Ran the El Cap again overnight and I'm ready to go again!

Tire wear? On this track? If you are having tire wear prob's you are sliding the car around way too much. I ran a dozen or so times last night and never even had a tire prob. at all. The last turn is a tricky turn, I go in hard and downshift and keep it hammered on the bottom the drive out (4th). The only place i even touch the breaks is in the first turn of the esses

Ooh baby the fastest straight-line car in the game on a very fast track... This'll be an interesting first WRS race for me!

Trying not to annoy an entire thread's worth of people but why does everybody call this car the Minolta? It is the Toyota 88C-V, so why must everyone call it by it's sponsor name :irked:

Anyway, I think tyre wear will not be too much of a problem so long as you don't push the first corner on the second lap too hard, but I'll need to see for myself... I may use R4s at the rear instead because they're faster in a straight line and will last longer, but maybe not. Time will tell what time I can produce!

This does mean I'll have to set Bob on the El Capitan, which I don't like to do but I don't have that much time spare so... :indiff:

This should be a real blast, it'll be a very good excuse/motivation to get to grips with the 88C-V at high speeds!

I can't remember the last time I drove this car - found it in the ride history at #197.

Found I could go faster without lowering the suspension all the way - it's probably my driving style to blame there but it does mean the car gets more tail happy. I was having problems with the last turn but now I'm coming out of the tunnel in the middle of the track and taking a slightly later apex on the right hander. This means I can brake in a straighter line for the last turn - not that much braking is needed. Haven't touch the gears yet.

T1 - 34.592
T2 - 27.664

OK..what am I doing wrong or missing here?
I'm getting WAY FASTER T1 times then everyone else....My fastest lap provided a T1 time of 28.3XX...

I've got the right car (Toyota Minolta) I've got the correct HP rating/number (1223hp) and correct weight...(850kg)

Someone wanna point out what I might be doing incorrectly here??? I've read the main post for this weeks race and don't see anything out of the ordinary...I'm also choosing the right course (High Speed Ring - Normal...since it's either "Normal" or "Reverse")

I can't believe others, especially those I know to be WAY faster/better then I, are only getting T1's of 33:XX

Thanks!

Are you sure you're doing the family cup race instead of something else? Sounds like you're doing a flying start instead of a standing start. Re-check the specs of the race and report back. Otherwise, you're a shoe-in for a win! :^)

Mmmm..let's see.....

* Boot Game:
* Choose Gran Turismo Mode (1st entry under Aracade Mode)
* Go to 'garage'
* Get into Toyota Minolta 88C-V (It's already tuned to race specs)
* Exit Garage
* Go to "Original Circuits" (Far bottom right corner of screen)
* Choose 1st entry, High Speed Ring (Normal..other option is Reverse)
* Scroll over and select Family Cup
* Set Difficulty to 10
* Field consists of these other 5 cars:
1) Audi R8
2) Bentely Speed 7
3) Nissan R92CP
4) Nissan R89C
5) Sauber/Mercedes

* Start race in 2nd gear (Standing Start)
* Pass all cars by the time the 2nd (Michellin) bridge is passed

This is what everyone else is doing right?

I don't care about times..I just wanna make sure I'm doing this right..as I already fu**ed up on a WRS event a few weeks ago cuz my sorry arse raced the wrong track! DOH! :-)

Strange, sounds right... I've been doing difficulty -10, but maybe with 10 you get more drafting help? But 5 seconds worth in less than 30? Unlikely...

Very odd. I got nothing...

@SIMRaceDriver, don't sweat racing the wrong race man, no one's perfect and I"m a prime example of that one ;). GL this week, and I actually haven't tried starting out in 2nd gear yet mainly because I have to use tcs to get a better start, but I'll try it out and tell ya how it goes see ya!

i've just spent 2 nights in a hospital after a pretty bad mountain biking accident and my face is all scratched up and i just escaped a broken neck but ill give this a try if i can. Now thats a hardcore GT4'er for ya.

Hope ur ok, nice excuse for lots of staying in bed playing Gt4, lol

Just put in an amazing lap, i beat my dirty lap by .2 and my clean lap by 1.9!!!

T1 33.383 (seen 33.173)
T2 26.644 (seen 26.330)

I drifted entire last corner in record time 👍 im hoping that corner will weed out most ppl in div 2, to make it easier for me lol

Splits so far:

Lap 1 T: 34.665
Lap 2 T: 28.587

Hmmmm, seems like I need a bit more practice :-p

DRIVEN -USA-
could be the lap - 1 or 2 -lap 1 is around 33 seconds to t1, where a 26/27 is on lap 2 at t1 (its 2 laps for the race)

Yeah....that's it! Now, when it comes to posting "T" times, don't you post the fastest?

Thanks for the vote of confidence there friend! 👍

As for starting out in 2nd...I just noticed, though not by very much, that I was getting off the line and getting more forward momentum by starting out in 2nd as opposed to 1st....and thus decreasing, ever so slightly, my overall time(s).
I even noticed that I was able to pass the other cars faster by starting out in 2nd...but this may or may not be beneficial for everyone....depending on their driving style...but give it a try and see if it's beneficial...who knows! :-)

Ok, i had a 30 min try now, after some 1 hour and 40 yesterday on practice, so i think i´ve got a good time, maybe 0.3 of improvements, but i dunno as i had a magical first lap.

In both laps i think the last corner i was fag and could be 0.1 faster.

Lap 1 - 0'32.392
Lap 2 - 0'25.796

Once i had a T1 of 32.2xx but i didn´t get it anymore.

Randy u drive an auto? I second the notion of you learning a manual, its SSSOOOO much more FUN! I feel I really get to know the track when adjusting my gear ratio and shifting accordingly and I also feel more in tune with the car I am driving as I am free to dictate its momentum in a way, IMHD2O that is...

Id post a photo of my face so you can all marvel at it but i fear there are some squeamish people here. I was at an offroad cycling club with my friends and they found me half way back up a trail with blood on my face after jumping like 15feet off of what im told is a road gap. The picture I have isnt too bad because im all cleaned up now but theres just big scratches up the left hand side of my face.

I think im gona have to hook up the old DS2 for this week seeing as there's no head rest on my cockpit and My neck is probably the most damaged part of my body right now. I can only turn it like 20 degrees to the left and right at the moment so it could get pretty uncomfy in my cockpit. I'll try and get some Ts in tomorrow with the DS2 and the wheel and see what im best with.

Good luck this week guys, its gonna be a fast one!

Hi Nat, you gonna kick our butts for a change this week?, that is if you can get your foot that high without a stool! LOL
(Not wise to wind up a woman who owns two guns(legally that is) and has 'devil's eyes' in photo's)  :)

l

I have "Devil's Eyes"? ahahahahahh :dopey:

I am *hoping* to race this week, but I don't have the Minolta yet and we're already half way through the week. We'll see. I'm hoping to Bspec it while I work today and then maybe drive this evening and dust off the copious amounts of copwebs that slowed me down last Sunday when Jerome came to visit.

@Kolyana, I don't recall which cars you have in your garage, but really any RACING car should do the trick, like if you have the Oreca Race Car, or WAIT! I remember! Use the R92CP u said this weekend you bought those 4 black cars, use those Nat!

Thanks Jerome, will do!

Yea i'm ok, thanks man. Im not too concerned about my face at the moment, my neck is the worst thing, it limits a lot of movement for me. I might post a pic of my face an helmet in a link so anyone who doesnt want to see it wont need to click it. but for any of the people that like a bit of gore can cheakc it out lol. Its not too bad though.

shoulda used the dirtbike style helmets... especially mountain biking
but luckily your ok

0'32.814
0'26.074

veil how is it possible that you are getting 0'32.392 without even using tcs at the start?

Nat, it takes B'spec Bob about twenty five minutes to do the endurance (with 3x speed)
Use any race car you have in the garage!

Earned myself two new one's earlier on in less than an hour.

C'mon girl, get your act together!

Neil

BSpec is currently lapping the field by 3 laps, so I'll pick up the Minolta later on and run a few ... see how far off the pace I am :(

Cool!

Nice to see ya back, it's about time!

Good luck!
