I'm obviously driving all funky, because I'm getting the supersofts to last the full 2 laps without any problems :?

Correct? i realy ran a 3 second first sector.... :dopey: lol kiddin, ok....done 👍

No wonder your up with the D1 guys! No seriously great job, I've been chasing you for weeks and you've finally got us up in the blue area of the Leaderboard. Well your smack in the middle and I'm right at the entrance of D1 territory...scary stuff. Looks like you'll podium, hopefully I might also if I get back to work.

No racing for me this weekend, as much as i would love to... Stupid @$$ mid-semester exams on monday and wednesday, gotta study for them! on the bright side Im gettin a psp and guess what game im gettin with that??? GT4 hahahah!! :)

And Guess what game has been used for ALL the promo shots for the PSP, and isn't a launch title in the UK!

Bloody little Japanese B*****Ds!!!!!! :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy:
Would have bought one on the day of release, even pre-booked one, BUT !!!!!

P/O'd to say the least!

Hi!

The last time I raced was on Week 13.

Since then, 8 weeks have passed (including this one, the 21st). If I participate in next week's event, will my stats be erased anyway?

mKay, it's my understanding that your best 6 of 8 weeks are counted to the stats, so if you race 1 week in 8, you're only going to score those points.

---

regarding this week's race:

The way I drive, I tend to get a lot of oversteer when I hit the brakes coming into a corner .... it's killing me, because I have to brake earlier on the straight and I'm sure I'm heading into the corner waaaay too slow.

Is there anyway to reduce the back end slipping around on me under braking?

Hi mkay, it's been a long time... Last we heard from you was that you had just gotten your MAX drive. You should check out some of the replays of the races you've missed 👍

got beat to the post again :dopey:

ATM you still have 13 points scored over the last 8 weeks (see you result history here).
If you don't submit a time for week 21, when the results are posted your score will drop down to zero and you'll be moved out of the board.
If then you submit a time and score points in week 22, you'll appear back on the board with a score equal to week 22 points.
However, your total score (95 points ATM) will never be erased.

Hope it's clear enough, or else just submit and you'll see what happens ;)

I did a one hour session or so myabe today to get back into this whole WRS thing.... without changing any settings on the car at all...except for a stage 4 turbo, a chassis refresh, the stiffener, and no driving aids.

33.275
26.876

It sucks that my neck is too painful for me to take part (i use a cockpit), and I find DS2s reallystrange now coz I get the temptation to move my arms and feet lol. So now I just have to sit in the empty grandstands watching kennythebomb flying past and jump_ace kicking the wall. Oh well, at least I got packets and packets of fruit gums.
I have to excersize my jaw by chewing loads........HONEST!!

thx, my last sector on second lap was .8 slower than my last sector on my first lap tho, so i guess im still gonna b back in th rankings until i improve this time...

Ok i ahve just won my 200Aspec points race at ElCapitan.
Now its time to try that minolta..
I dont know if i will submit but i must at least try that combo :)

Is there anyway to reduce the back end slipping around on me under braking?

To reduce turn in oversteer, you can try the following:

Increase LSD Decel Setting to the max, then back it off to where it feels best.

Increase rear toe in. (Positive side not negative side)

Changing the brake balance by sending more braking force to the front and less to the rear.

As a last resort you could firm up the front suspension a bit and stiffen the rear.

I'd start with the LSD and go from there trying one thing at a time until you figure out how much effect each setting is having. That's how I would go about it anyway, your results may vary.👍

This works 👍, ive done a fair bit of experimenting with settings over the past few weeks.

Wait, it should be stiffen front and soften rear, right? Or does GT4 have the spring settings reversed as I thought I read around here? In Gt3 you would stiffen front and soften rear unless I'm getting senile.

Spring rates are reversed in gt4.

Though most of the other suspension settings "seem" to be the same as GT3.

I already shove off 15 seconds on my first attempt, but it seems I can't improve much more with my current settings.

I'll try someone else's settings later this week-end.

Ok!

Let me get this straight, in my age-addled brain.

When you lower the values for the springs, it stiffens them??????

WHY?
HOW?
Who the hell at PD do i hire the assasin to shoot for this complete and total c**k-up? :mischievous: :mischievous:

Now i know how Hot/Holl etc were able to get the spoon to go round monaco with springs set to 19!

This just flies in the face of common sense!

I bet there are some japanese software writers just sipping sake and laughing their asses off at the 'little' joke they have played on the rest of the world's GT players!

Thanks for the reply CFM.

I remember a long - and really interesting - discussion over in the setting's forum regarding whether springs/suspension was reversed in GT4 and the conclusion was 'probably yes, that seems to be the way it works' ... so I'll take your advice, combine it with this and hopefully gain just a touch more control.

Thanks again.

(TCS @ 1, gear auto 19, lowest ride height, minimum LSD) Maybe I should try the chassis stiffener? :boggled:

T1: 33.089
T2: 26.419

A total of 1.x sec improvement.

Beginning to find a rhythm, although I'm about a second off where I'd like to be.

T1: 33.702
T2: 26.998

EDIT:

T1: 33.402
T2: 26.919

I'm losing time on the second corner and then the two right-left corners in the middle of the track ... I *know* i'm not hitting these right :(

Do you mind if I ask what settings you're using ?

Hi Cyril!

How's it going for you this week?

I'm having problems, as usual.

Just can't seem to stop the car from making suicidal, without warning, trips into the barriers! LOL

On a recent lap, doing the first corner at full-chat(2nd lap) the rear broke out in the middle of the corner and it took the car nearly 10 seconds to stop spinning whilst bouncing from corner to corner (of the car that is).

I watched the replay, with the steering wheel displayed, and i didn't do anything different to any other lap. (very little steering input, taking a line outside right/apex/outside right) It's a lottery for me as to whether i finish a race or not.

Getting sick and tired of fighting the steering wheel just to keep the car in a straight line too!

I for one cannot believe that ANY race car would handle THIS badly, let alone this badly in a straight line!

BTW these are my settings at the moment...

Sp 11.0/13.0
Rh 65/75
Db 7/8
Dr 7/8
Ca 2.0/1.0
To 0/0
St 6/6
LSD 10/40/45

Tranny
4.042
2.549
1.790
1.325
1.033
0.836
Final 3.429
(not sure if these are stock figure at Auto 19, I mite have tweaked 5 & 6th)
Full downforce
Brakes 4/2
Tyres RSS/RS

Now on my 5th oil change, and only getting 1222HP

flat! :)

Auto: 17
Suspension:
11/10
60/70
8/7
8/7
2.0/1.0
0/0
7/6

Brakes:
5/5

Downforce:
63/88

LSD:
5/5/25

Driving Aids: 0/0/1

Tires: R5

Most people are using LSD 5/5/5, but I increased it under braking to see if I could minimize the tendency for the backend to slip out from under me while braking and turning. I may try reducing this a little.

I can't get a good start using no TCS, either, and I've tried lots of times.

@ Neil and Cyril:
You guys might want to try these settings, too:

Suspension: lower the car as far down as it will go, increase both front and rear springs by 1.0.

Transmission: Auto 19.

LSD: 5/5/5

TCS: 1, all other driving aids set to 0.

R5, front and rear.

Everything else stock.

Also, Neil, if your car chatters too much, it might be due for a Chassis Refresher...

The Wizard.
