Just had my first real run at this puppie. Cut 1 second off my time doing some random set-up, which involved putting the cars as low as it can go (F1 cars do it), putting both springs to 12 (Nice round number) and putting front toe-in (or out? I can't remember) to +2.

I love having no idea what I'm doing, everytime I change something it's an adventure, like this set-up makes it 'the great understeer adventure', which is going quite nicely for me. However, now for some pretty awful split times from memory.

T1 - 12.8xx
T2 - 27.8xx
T3 - 56.2xx

I'm also not running an LSD, too complex, and I can't be stuffed with that crap. My Auto gearing may be 11...or 12...I can't remember....

I followed hollo1's route and went with the stock differential, seems better for me as well.
I can tunafish better than tuning a car...uuuuuuug, couldn't help it, hemp fever.

ouch... baptism by fire for the DFP.
kitty's got claws.

sooo mutch more fun than the ds2... but i'm massively inconsistant.
going to be a few weeks of bad times for me. i'm over a second off my theoretical best lap.

current splits:
12.681
28.067
56.386

Wow, just looked at board, gonna be a good race to the end T13R

Well ya got me by about .7 at split 3 and I know I'm not gonna get any better, I had one of those lucky laps where everything went right, don't think I'm gonna even try to beat it. For the first time in a month or so I might do better than dead middle of Div. 2.
You're quite consistant Randy, so I usually chase you each week, and this is the closest I've ever been to you except Ciata, I think.

But you're right, it's very close this week. Next week is gonna be killer, think I'll start getting used to the car now and maybe get a bit of a jump, us old guys (and I do mean old) don't have as fast of reflexes as you young bucks, we gotta work harder and longer to compete. Good luck everbody.

Yes I agree. But my T3 can be quite deceiving though... look at last weeks leaderboard and then look where I actually ended up :grumpy: I've been running short stints, I think I put 200 Km on the car. I hope to have one more session tomorrow because it's so frustrating to get low 12.6's for T1 and then always have your ghost pass you before T2 :indiff: Also need to fix my T3 to finish since a previous 55.80x was almost as fast as current.

New splits:
12.699 ( saw a 12.617 not long ago, but messed up entry to the right-left-right )
27.604
55.573

I took about .41 seconds off previous lap with T3 of 55.628

Straaaaange, blitzed my end time by .700 of a second and took longer on T3, wierd!

Anyways, best lap splits

T1: 13.041
T2: 28.659
T3: 57.869

Well, I have over 700 miles on this car now and I still can't match the time I did on Wednesday! I've been within a few hundredths but no winners. Played with my settings both stiff and soft, mostly like very low rear rates (like 3!) and about a 8-10 front. Very drifty but easier to rotate through the esses but difficult through the last chicane.

Did see a best of 55.7X in T3 but blew the finish.

Grrrr...

Having fun, but still very challenging.

p.s. BTW, if anyone ever gets the opportunity to drive Infineon (nee Sears Point) Raceway for real, take it! It's an awesome drive! The elevation change is amazing and the track just flows. The walls are really close to the track at a few places (just like in the game) so that can be daunting, but otherwise it's a hoot. Drove about 100 miles there on Friday and I can't wait to go back. Didn't set up my laptimer because I didn't want any distractions from learning the track, but I wish I could know what my baseline time was for grins!

Hell yeah! I haven't driven there, but my roommate Pat(Tuff240), who doesn't compete in the WRS anymore because of time issues, has been there. He's got vid of him flying around it in his bright Orange Volvo 242 Turbo, passing many $$$ cars... 👍

:scared: Uh oh, that doesn't sound too good... I better make up some time tonight. Just about to sit down for a good session. I feel a bit tired though, so that worries me. We shall see!

hey everyone circa86 is back, I realized that i have gone too long with out gt4 competition and i will start competing again next week, I will have to use DS2 for now but i will get my DFP to my dorm room and really start competing.

I'm not sure if i am in D3 still or D2, i was supposed to move up to D2 but that was at the same time that i began moving to college so i think D3 will be my spot, but not for long.

jumpputt i am now sending out a direct threat too you! :) to be ahead of you is my goal and in 6-8 weeks i think it will be the truth. I have gone to long with no Gran Turismo and i am itching to drive the **** out of that game. since you are my arch rival i figured i would send out a formal message of "bring it on!" :)

it is going to be good to get back into this and please don't keep me out of any new ideas or techniques you guys and girls may have learned that you think i should know.

see you next week jumputt :sly:

edit: i just checked and i guess i was promoted to D2 after my win in the Miata at Citti di Aria. fantastico!

Holy. ****. Please excuse the profanity, but seriously, I'm at a loss as to what happened. I just turned the PS2 back on, and low and behold, it's as if the game's reverted to my last save, before the one where I made my current fastest lap. I have don't have my fastest clean lap on my card and my car is not modified at ALL. No parts, not even an oil change. I remember saving over my old fastest lap with my new one, and what the hell. Now I have to start from scratch with settings again(well, I think I have a good idea of what I was running, but not sure of course), and then come up with a fast lap again. I have to beat my previous best anyway, so I guess it's not as big of a deal as it seems. But WHAT THE HECK!?!?! Argh. More work than I thought I had ahead of me for tonight, current splits are NOT verifiable anymore, so I better get some newer better ones. Crap.

screw it. Too tired and pissed to get anything decent done. Had one lap that was going to be alright, but the suspension is different from what I had finalized last time I ran and I went wide on the final chicane. Freakin aye. And I had just finished playing with the suspension for the week and was ready to just go at it with what I had. Damn damn damn. I might end up submitting the lap that I had(current splits), even though I don't have a replay for it. It's not good enough for first or second, so I'll be alright. Unless I sit down and figure something suspension wise later, but I doubt I won't be tired tomorrow. Blah.

First half decent run of the week, I want to cut off a second by tomorrow.

T1 - 12.933
T2 - 28.311
T3 - 56.191

And for those interested in my settings (Which, I know, Is all of you) here they are.

11.9/11.4
99/101
6/5
8/9
2.1/1.4
2/0
4/2
Gears: Auto 12

I'm not running an LSD or brake balance thingy. And before anyone asks, yes I did just throw random numbers into my suspension set-up.

havent raced since wednesday? or thursday cant remember.. too busy this week..
Time submitted.. Not much racing done.. an hour maybe 2...

new sector times...

T1: 12.868 (0.1 slower than my current best T1 time on the leaderboard)
T2: 27.921 (0.3 slower than my current best T2 time on the leaderboard)
T3: 55.812 (0.3 faster than my current best T3 time on the leaderboard)

however my lap time was over 0.5 seconds faster than the old one... still gotta find that extra 0.3 though...but it won't be before the deadline so my time is submitted... i am pretty happy with it seeing as it is my first week in Div 2... :)

Submitted, cant seem to improve that T2 despite loads of tips thx guys 👍
Best T3-end possible though :P

EDIT: its going to be close T13R, cant wait. U got me beat by .050 at t3...fingers crossed.

P.s dont beat your time

Im sooo gonna get smashed up this week... it was bound to happen sooner or later.. good luck guys with results and all!
Casio and Randy, Jerome, heres ur chance to pretty much pulverise my time! :indiff:

how could you have lost your lap?
not saving the game-data doesn't affect the saved replays.

I have no clue how it happened! But it's not because I didn't save it, because that was the second time I had driven the Jaguar. Oh wait... Now I remember, I left the PS2 on the whole time(few days) and never had to load it back up... Wow. That explains the car not being modified at all and having zero mileage. But that still doesn't explain the lack of saved fast ghost. Damnit. I swear I replaced my old clean time's ghost save with the new one. But it's not there, so I guess not! AHHHH! I'll have a go at it in a bit now that I've gotten some sleep. Still the settings are different, but whatever.

Edit: The F1 car should still be there, that one was for sure saved earlier...

That usually happens to certain people when they are expected to prove that the times they have posted were those of a clean lap.
But I won't "Max E" you KLR, it's none of my business.

It's just a good reason for anyone who saves replays to post them every week, even if you're last in your div (as I'll be this week).
And perhaps a reason too to make replay posting compulsory for every submitted time. Failure to do so would then mean the time is "unofficial".
Again, that's Todd's business, not mine.

See you at the track in the F1.

F1...F1...F1...F1...F1. Just wish I knew where to take 'ol speedy.
