Well I'm not a Div. 1 big shot, but I honestly havent used Auto since GT1 man....aahhh the innocent glory days, when I thought I was really good, one of the best there was.....and 16 yrs old......so whats the word...IGNORANT?!?! LOL@ME. But yeah just because I wanted to the very next day I beat GT1 I deleted my game save and redid it all in Manual and in half the time I might add :sly: . Since then I haven't gone back...EVER.

After so many years of Gran Turismo, I'm still doing ALL my driving in auto transmission. Just can't get used to manuel on a controller.

Is no problem on a keyboard, were one hand can do all of the shifting, and the other hand all the rest. But on the controller I have to shift down with the same hand that does the steering (at the same time) and I just can't handle that. Get confused and start pushing the wrong buttons :indiff:

Don't know if I'll ever learn...

Well when I learned, I started out small and simple, by doing the license tests and although it took some time initially, its more than worth it, i.e. Nissan R390 GT1 Road Car @ El Capitan. If u drove a manual that week u could shift at 6500 rpms and trim another .5 like I did ;)

On a DS2, as long as I can customize my own setup, it's manual for all race games. But if I can't customize my own setup, unfortunately it's auto. I can't adapt outside of my setup. Setup is as follows so that the left hand does steering and rearview. Right hand does everything else.

Gas = square
Brake = X
E-brake = O
Reverse = triangle
Shift up = R1
Shift down = R2
Rearview = L2
Camera = L1
Steering = D-pad (cannot do analog)

But since I have a DFP, I don't have to worry about it. :sly:

Manual... only way to fly...

In my real cars as well...... unless its a pickup, then i would'nt bother :) well, unless it was that crazy SRT-10 ram...lol

Board Updated. If I missed anyone, please shout out.

Haven't touched this combo since last Tuesday and the jury is open on whether I'll bother running or not ... just isn't floating my boat.

Now why didnt i think of that earlier, holding l2 :indiff:!!! meh... ill start learning manual, was bound to happen sooner or later i guess! ;)

'ey mate.

I was the same way. My left hand isn't very coordinated from a previous injury, so had to work around that by using R1 & R2 for the shifting buttons to keep them on that side. R1 for me is a downshift (comfortable position for my thumb to hit the brake and my index to tap the other). Might give it a shot and see if it works for you. 👍

New splits, moved back to the DS2 for a quick go.

T1 0'13.018
T2 0'28,358
T3 0'56.940

Getting faster but very slowly, ive added an LSD with the settings

15
45
15

seems to pull in to corners better under acceleration.

I'm finding time everywhere but my splits still look pathetic :) Oh well, here they are anyway:

T1: 0'12.965
T2: 0'28.040
T3: 0'56.567
Finish: 1'xx.xx4

I didn't like this combo when I first started, but I'm warming to it.

Laters 👍

Grrr...yesterday i tried dan´s settings and i liked them alot. I am able to break that barrier i wanted so much, now. I almost got that, even tho i lost 2 great laps with 54´s in the T2. But i will be trying some more to get that time i want.

i will have to get back into this again... haven't driven it since thursday... probably won't be able to til monday, got Bathurst to watch tomorrow...:)

Ahhh you punk. :crazy: Going the stiff route eh? Yeah, one of my settings is like that, although I think I've got the front on 18 and the rear on like 9 or something. Makes for more oversteer. Well, now I've really got to figure out the T2, hadn't been hitting it as fast as you, but now I've got to. Maybe tonight!

actuali now that i think bout it i had rear at 11 when i got this time, not 18. I just didnt save settings. Im working on third sector, loosing time there....on the long left...

Earlier today the missus and I went car shopping. She bought me a new Jag.... really nice looking in the darker green color. Now I'm going to take it for a spin around Apricot Hill and get it all messy. Hope I don't spill the soda or drop my sandwich.

Going to be a late night I think...

Later,

12.841 ( seen all sorts of 12.6's )
27.621 ( probably my best run from T1 to T2... too bad not on a 12.6 (seen 27.5) )
55.628 ( a so-so run from T2 to T3, best T3 )
----------
A time that could have been so much faster if i hadn't screwed up the chicane.

I've been using the 1.5 LSD from the start... couldn't be arsed to figure out settings for the full customizable LSD.

I'm using a slightly modified version of hollo1's settings, they're great man thanks for sharing, I'm using different tranny settings than you. I've got 4 of these darn cars with three different setting on each. Took forever to find a good set of settings.

Well I just got back from crabbing, should have been home LONG ago but our truck, who were borrowing from our comapny's president broke down... :scared: , plz dont fire me mister...lol. We only got 3 Dungeness, and a ton of Red Rock crabs. Good eatin'! I was hoping to run some tonight but I'm too tired, I got up at 4:30 this morning and it now 11pm...I'm done! I'll try to put some time in tomorrow as my showing this week is unacceptable thus far, but Rob and Kyle are doing so well...got my work cut out for me I guess. Nice job u guys!

For the long left get to the inside and then brake late, swinging wide, dropping down to somewhere around 70-85mph(can't remember exactly), get on the gas and cut back in accelerating out using the full width of the track. I think your guide earlier said you were hugging the inside the whole time? Brake a little later and swing wide then cut back in, see if that helps you at all. And then I'll lose even further... Oh well, I'd be happy with a second or third place this week. That's decent after all the crappy times I've been submitting from not spending any time on the races.

Oh, and nope, haven't made it to that half second barrier yet, but that's my goal for the week. I'm sure I'll surpass it the next time I spend an hour/2 on it though, we'll see. You make it yet?

Did you happen to know that under your settings page, there are 3 different setups you can save for each car? At the top of the settings screen there are the numbers 1,2,&3 which look like file folder tabs. That way you can save 3 different setups for each car, and flip between them to try different ideas. Or when you race in a sim mode race series, you could have one setup for regualr tracks and one for test track, and simply flip between them as neded. Don't know if everyone knew about this, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

Yeah I know, I needed about 10 setups, I tried all setups posted here, a few from GT Vault and a few of my own. Haven't done much racing, but a heck of alot of setting laps. But I've finally settled on hollo1's basic setup. It actually looked very strange when I first saw it, but I figured if one of the fastest guys around used it, an average driver should try. And I am Mr. average here, right in the middle of the middle (Div2) division. But thanks for your concern sir, it is much appreciated.

Ok thanks, ill try that. Ive been thinkin, that ways gotta be faster, but everytime i got to do it i mess it up and loose a good t2...o well, practise makes perfect (unless your top of div1 and get a winning time in 3 laps :crazy: ).
Yeh im just under....and starting to worry, if u beat it im prob stuffed...
