Finally man, I was waiting for you to get splits up there... Talked about them, but whenever I looked at the leaderboard, Jump_Ace still missin... :-P Maybe I'll get better later tonight. Highly doubtful though. Peace!

After 350miles and no progress in 2 days, the S-Type began to lose its shine! in more ways than one! :)

if anyone has a good, well gripping setup, post it!! Atm i'm ice skating and not getting past my ghost which has beaten me within 0.100 SIX times this session!!! :(

After 5 installation laps seen a 12.7, 27.7, 56.1 dirty on stock settings, no assists.

about 300km covered in a long session mainly devoted to experimenting with setup, here is mine btw

10.0/.0
99/118

9/4
2.7/1.7
0/-2
6/3

no lsd (a.k.a standard)

gearing auto 8 (with sixth altered to .827)

B.B 4/5

and the splits
12.791 (disgusting)
27.407
54.992

and the t3 was acceptable, but could have been .15 faster if i went nuts at the chickane, but better to be safe than sorry. time submitted, have fun

What's the spring rate at the rear?

/\?!?! I'll try anything! :nervous:

Yo shockwave,

To dial in oversteer, you want to increase rear stabilizer and reduce front. Try going higher rear than front.

-SHig

yeah i will give it a go, i thought though that the lower the stabiliser strength the more roll you could induce in the rear... anywayz i will let ya know how i fare with some different settings...

More roll, yes, less grip, not neccessarily. The stiffer rear bar makes the inside rear want to pick up more basically. But I shouldn't talk too much about what things should be happening, because the setup on this game is crapola. It's been better in the older versions, I don't understand how they can make things worse  . GT1 I think would show you what each and every change to the suspension really did, and you could play with boost pressure/lag, get swaybars seperate from suspension kits, with gearing it would show max speed in each gear, it would show accurate horsepower/torque figures with what RPM they make them at, and the suspension changes would be drawn out(as in, toe moving this way makes toe out like this, etc.). Annoying eh?

Time for another go, I'm going to bump up the front springs to 10, and leave the rear at 7, and then probably leave everything else pretty close to what I was running before. Need to play with the gears though so I can take the hairpin in third. I'll report back in an hour or so...

Well, I put amlost 150 miles on the car earlier today, and I took off .001 on my overall lap time...lol
I need to try someone elses settings......

I did however have one lap that was nearly a full second quicker than my previous best...
only problem is that I blew it coming out of the last turn and put most of the car on the grass......I quit after that......lol

Hmmm, maybe one day I'll be this fast around Apricot!

I have been giving this a go, I cant get the 1st sector below 12.8, cannot understand why im so slow there.

2nd sector is around the 27.6's but if I could find my 2tenths in the 1st I would be doing 4's.

3rd is also bad - best is a 55.5 but once again if I find the 4tenths in the previous two sectors I will be looking at a 1.

Settings are either mega stiff (15.x - 13.x) or super soft (7.x - 3.0). Either way I get the same result. The one ='s mega oversteer and the former ='s stability in the fast stuff.

TCS is at 1.

Well another longish session and despite my splits looking similar I'm getting somewhere (I think), my new splits:

T1: 0'12.908
T2: 0'28.087
T3: 0'56.770
Finish: 1'xx.xx3

My T2 - T3 still seems to be the problem, I've seen a 56.4 before but .6 and .7 seems to be my thing :indiff: . That's enough for today, need to watch Australia destroy the world in cricket :sly:

Laters 👍

Jiminy Christmas. I should've been in bed an hour and a half ago, well, at least an hour ago. I was expecting to do better a long time ago. I have my settings and gearing where I'm going to leave them though. About 45 minutes into this 2.5 hour session, I beat my previous time by .2 while my splits were something like .5 slower. Quite dissappointing actually. So, for the rest of the night, I toyed with settings a bit here and there, and just drove, and drove, and drove, and drove, and drove, and drove... Beat my previous best a little bit, but not by .2, and didn't have fast splits. Anywho, a long time later of annoyance, and sneezing(stupid cold), I pulled out a lap that was quite dirty, but not unreasonable otherwise if I stayed on the track, and that was a little over .3 faster than my previous best. Then, not thinking to back out and then come back into a new practice session, I just reloaded my old ghost with the fast splits, and went at it again. Drove, drove, drove and drove. Hit a time that's just over .26 faster than my previous best, with decent enough splits. Then look up at "Best time" and see my dirty time. CRAP. Can't save my ghost. Just have to save the replay... If this ends up being my fastest lap I better be able to submit the full replay. But yeah, I'll keep my old quick T time ghost around to try and beat even that time with a new ghost to chase.

So much for sleep tonight. Crappola, I always starve myself of sleep during the week with this new job of mine.

So, splits for now, .26ish faster than my quicker, old splits:
T1: 12.802
T2: 27.813
T3: 55.802

Blah.

EDIT: Kart, for what it's worth, I think that almost anything under 12.7 for T1 will be the wrong line and won't be fast through the next turn, if you even make it around it that is. So I wouldn't worry too much about that part, but what follows afterwards. Holl's T1 is only a hundreth faster than mine, but he's .4 ahead at T2. But then again, I don't know what FAST T1 times he's been having, or if they've set him up for decent T2s or not.

Oh dear getting beaten by D3s!! :indiff:
Well how about that 3rd from the bottom! :D
I might have to do something about that :S
If only i knew how to do the freakin t1-t2 sector :grumpy:

last night i took some time to the JGTC qualify, but then got frustrated with the car and ran some laps in WRS...

started changing the settings and got nowhere, even with holl´s settings and others. then, i got back to stock, and only lower the car. very good behavior and a good lap in few minutes:

T1:12´689
T2:27´506
T3:55´377

now there´s not much time to take, just 0´2 or 0´3 until T3 and another 0´2 to the finish. but already satisfied with this :dopey:

Hi here are my splits after 20 laps last night, ive swithed from the DS2 to my DFP and i seem to be alot faster now :)

T1: 0'12.922
T2: 0'28.338
T3: 0'57.676

i also have some settings if anyones interested.

Suspention.

15.8 | 13.8
99 | 99
- - | - -
8 | 8
8 | 8
2.0 | 2.0
0 | 1
6 | 6

Turns in ok but too much acceleration makes it just understeer like a freight train.

Australia booted the rest of the world in the buttocks! Sorry Kart, no amount of South African influence could stop the mighty Gilly! It should be National Gilchrist Day tomorrow!!!

Hopefully more to come :)

my splits - T1 13.102 (cant seem to break 13.00 :ill: )
T2 28.636
T3 57.600

..i know i can go quite a lot faster tho :)

Indeed it would've been! Nice T2's Randy! I haven't been that quick at T2 yet... Not even for the dirty laps. I'll get there tonight though, or at least by the end of the week. And I hope to have my T3 down to 55.5 or so, and my overall lap time down to 1'.xx.xx0 Lol.

Ok, heres a walkthrough of my lap...

Pass line around 156mph, stay left and brake for about a second as you reach the rumble strip on right, and turn in at the same time. this should make you hit the rumble on the inside, as you pass the end of this, brake hard and you should go all the way out to almost the very outside of the corner, at about 57mph accelerate away, and maybe let off, or tap the brake to ensure you dont end up in the grass. pass t1 around around low 12.7's high .6 on good run. Keep as far left as you can, then late to get a good run out the right hander try to keep as far right as you can before turning in left and braking for half a second to stay far left, this gives you a good line into the next corner, where loads of time can be made up the further right you are as you brake and turn in. pass t2 27.5, then stay near to the inside around the long left hander, as you see a whiteish building in background, you can accelerate away and should hit the outside rumble strip. (the corner may be faster driving out then braking in to get maximum speed out, i havent experimented yet..) As you drive down the straight edge over to the left, and brake just as the last sign above you passes, turn hard right and stay in third gear, very important to do this i find. accelerate away staying left. Turn in hard right before the big redsign ahead of you passes above the apex, if you know what i mean here... Pass t3 with an extremly low time, i havnt managed a fast lap to here yet. The brake and stick to the inside of the left hander. staying in fourth may be faster for the chicane, i use auto and it usualy switches down to third, hit the right rumble, maybe wheel slightly in sand to help the turn, then hit the left rumble on the way out. not going in the sand, if done correctly i pass the end of the rumble on the left in the mid 80's (Mph remember) then take the last corner from right to apex back to right, and spped to the end, 156mph across line again...

There you go, specialy for you jase 👍

I think you just pointed out my problem. I don't brake enough for the left after T1 to get a good line for the second right. If I do this right, I should get a better line to hammer down to T2. Thanks Randy. I'll give it a shot after I build another cockpit. :dunce: (owned)

Thanks Randy! that was great!
but i also figured out another problem i had...
AUTO!! FREAKIN BLOODY AUTO!! I have to switch over to using manual, and for me that sucks... coz im pretty uncoordinated, anyhow, without much trying i have managed to come within 0.2 of my best (which isn't that great) by just switching to manual, and my manual skills suck, still gots more to improve with manual!!! crazy: :indiff: :ill: :yuck:

I think Im the only div1 guy that uses auto, for most races anyhow.. :)
Anybody out there use auto?? :P
