Al-RIGHT! Splits that I'm not ashamed of! Must be the GT Mode race. I always seem to be able to tune the car to my style, though I'll wager that others trying it may find it oversteery...

T1 12.901 (seen 12.792)
T2 27.868 (seen 27.761)
T3 55.812

Only using 4 gears this week.

Here are my preliminary settings:

Brakes 5/5
Springs 8.5/7.5
Height 110/115
Dampers Fr/Rr 5/8 , 5/8
Camber Fr/Rr 2.5/0.5
Toe Fr/Rr 0/-1
Stab Fr/Rr 4/7
LSD 5/15/5

So, who has done the rigidity increase this week? I didn't because EVERY time I've tried it I haven't liked it. Dials in too much understeer.

BTW, I got my splits on my last lap last night. Promptly went into the garage to notice that I needed an oil change and was down ~15 hp. Wonder what that'll be worth next time I sit down? :^)

A sub 56 for me it SEEMS...is off in the distance, I"m not hitting this one well, but then again I dont wanna be too hard on myself its only day 2 :) . This is what I have been using so far:

Suspension:
Springs: Default
Ride: 99/99
Stabilizers: 7/5
everything else in the suspension: Default

Tranny: Default
LSD: 5/5/5

Aids: 0/0/1...much like the Superbird, I am getting wheelspin at like 80mph...

well anyone have any suggestions? PLZ!?!?!

i dont even wanna try this combo, but will cos of missing last week - thats if i get the info i need. cough it up someone or my racing time gets it!!!!

tvm!!

Cass,

Drop it on it's ass, increase the spring rates to 11ish and 10ish, reduce the damper's all round by one click, stiffen the anti-roll by 2.

Then increase brakes to 8/6 ish, set tranny to auto 13 or 14.

Don't bother with the tranny-trick, most of the fast boys say it doesn't work. All it does is give you a closer ratio gearbox which increases the number of gear-changes and when you are changing gear you ain't accelerating! AND when you play with the final gearing you just reduce the effect of the trick anyway by reducing the available torque provided by using the 'trick' - so no advantage! IMO

Thats it really, once you have the car set up like that, then start changing suspension settings one set at a time, only by small amounts and write the changes down. then do a few laps and see what it does.

If it improves your times, fine. Change it more, until it starts to have a bad effect, then go back two changes.
If it makes things worse, then put it back and try either a different direction of change, or change something else, but only by small amounts until the car starts to behave how you want it to.

Also something i learned about a few weeks ago is, the effect of changes to spring-rates is REVERSED in GT4. What i mean by that is that in GT3 and R/L if the car is understeering you should soften the fronts to get more grip, BUT, in GT4 you should stiffen them, and the same for the rears if it is oversteering. (I think i got this right)

Above all remember to write the changes down, then you won't get in a mess. I learned this lesson with the NSX race, got in a mess with the settings and had to set everything back to default and start again.

Hope this helps Hun, PM me with any specifics and i'll do what i can to help. That is if the help of a mid-table D2er is worth listening to.

@Jerome, mate

Stiffen the springs mate, it helps, a lot! It is afterall a Luxury sports saloon and as such is sprung for comfort, also set anti-roll to 7/6, 7/5 causes too much torque through the chassie (sp) and de-stabilises the car in the turns

You seem to have the natural ability to tune cars Stig speed, i mean shig speed! combine that with the ability to race incredibly fast, you got urself one fast time 👍 :P
Man those splits seem soo far off where i am.. must try your settings.. i dont like understeer or oversteer... how about NORMAL STEER  :)
Losing 2 seconds from start to t3!! YIKES

Board updated!

Don't worry, there are enough slaps for everyone.

Jerome, that sounds like fun. It's been soom time since I've had some crab. I think a seafood dinner is in store for tonight.

BTW, I don't think I'm haulin' @$$ yet. If I dip under 56, then I'll be haulin' @$$. I'm going for a win this week. Watch out Div2. I'll be entering soon.

About time, 'rabbit!

Thanks, but have you seen my results lately? I've been making a habit of crossing the finish line just as the champagne has lost its fizzy! Oh, and don't praise the settings until you've tried them. I don't seem to ever be able to go fast on someone else's established "fast" settings so I must have a lot of bad habits to band-aid up by ham fisting the tuning. We'll see if these splits have any staying power. I'm sure the rest of the D1 gang will show up again and push T3 into the 54's soon enough.

yes, already one div1 guy had splits of 54´9 but couldn´t complete the lap... i also had some low 55´s but still no complete lap... shame that i started ok, but i´m pretty sure the usual suspects will drop the splits a lot, just to make things harder for us... for those who completed laps with splits at 55´5 to 55´9, there´s a certain second barrier that looks impossible to beat, but by the end of the week, i know those freaks will be close

:banghead: AAAARRRGH. Maybe a sub 56 is a bit too much. Right now, I can't get within .6 seconds of my ghost. Best T3 I've done today is 56.8xx. I've decided to take a break before breaking my wheel.

Update: there isn't any

What am I doing wrong?! I can't possibly be this quick?! :nervous:

T1 12.692
T2 27.520
T3 55.074

New splits:

T1: 12.896 (+0.035) :indiff:
T2: 28.446 (+0.008) :indiff:
T3: 57.201 (-0.477) :)

Only slight improvement. Only got it because I turned on the driver's aids again (a bit that is), so I didn't have wheelspin when speeding out the hairpin.

Don't like the car much :S

Short session tonight : 10 minutes to buy the car and all the parts, 2 minutes to tune and 3 minutes to run 2 laps, with a best T3 at 58.654.
Shig, I'll try your settings and hope the car will eventually oversteer a little bit, coz' it's now a brick and it spoils all the fun from Apricot.

Maybe you're using Super Soft tires ( R5's ) instead of Super Hard ( R1's )

This being my first comp I was hoping for a good showing but it's not lookin so hot right now... I have not messed much with the suspension settings or much else for that matter...
With my DFP and no aids: after about 1/2 an hour track time, maybe less....

T1 12.985
T2 28.398
T3 57.478
I got alot more in it i hope...lol

There's warnings though, you risk breaking it. I had no choice though, it could barely read GT4 anymore and maxdrive stopped reading at all.

Not too hard to do though, it has pictures to show you at each step.
Thanks!!! We'll have to have a look see... Although it randomly worked for me when I woke up this morning, so I left it on. Now it's time to head back home and move up on that leaderboard to the top of D2... I wish, lol. We shall see. I'll stick with the Jaguar suspension tuning for a while I think. I'll switch over to the stock racing suspension to see what it's like though. Thanks again!

Up to 220km on my Jag now and I've fiddled with the settings a fair bit without much luck :indiff: but I do have better splits, slightly...however my time at the finish was much better than before:

T1: 0'12.852
T2: 0'28.176
T3: 0'56.863
Finish: 1'xx.xx4

My T2 - T3 seems to be the main problem. I'll work on it though.

Laters 👍

Ok, the suspension tuning is really just pissing me off now... I'm going to ignore it until I get going fast. I've seen 12.690 and another low 12.7xx for T1, but when I go that fast I'm always taking the wrong line. For T2, I've seen quite a few 28.0xx's, but haven't put one into a lap yet. For T3, seen down to 56.4, but haven't made a lap yet. I'm quite dissappointed with this actually. If this car had R2 tires I'd be much happier, with this setup though, I can't get into a good rythym with the lack of grip. If the car had a little bit less power and these tires I wouldn't complain, but this just isn't balanced. Argh blah whatever. My 55.xxx is not coming tonight I don't think, and I've already spent a good amount of time on it tonight. Annoyed.

EDIT: Just pulled together a T3: 56.30x lap... More to come for tonight, but very likely not 55.xxx's. Using modified version of Shig's settings, just because I wanted to try something different. Brakes 3/5, toe: 3/2. I think everything else's the same, except I'm still using 5 gears.

Uhm... Nevermind... Just pulled out a 56.1xx, followed by a scorching 55.7xx with the splits of:

T1: 12.847
T2: 27.704
T3: 55.753
(EDIT: That was with the springs changed to 9/7)

Done for tonight with the WRS. :-D Still some room to improve too if I get perfect... Just gotta put it all together. Right on, happy with the improvement, and I couldn't even see it coming.

And I've already got the F1 car! Yay! Got it a couple weeks ago... Crazy thing to drive with the amount of downforce.

EDIT#2: And I have been using the rigidity increase the whole time, FWIW.

Al

So, who has done the rigidity increase this week? I didn't because EVERY time I've tried it I haven't liked it. Dials in too much understeer.

yeah i added the rigidity to my car and maybe that is why i can't dial out the understeer...

then again my settings are very different to yours...

Spring rate: F - 16.0; R - 14.2
Ride Height: F - 99; R - 105 (trying to induce some rear steer with a slightly higher rear end)
Damper Bound: F - 5; R - 7
Damper Rebound: F - 6; R - 8
Camber Angle: F - 3.0; R - 1.2
Toe Angle: F - 0; R - 2
Stabiliser: F - 5; R - 4 (Agin to try and get some rear steer)
Brake Balance: F - 3; R -3
LSD: Initial:5
Acceleration: 34
Deceleration: 14
Auto Setting: 13

No driver aids... was killing my pace out of the hairpin and corner 2

this is only a preliminary setup, still ironing out the bugs...

:(

I was using Racing/Hard tyres...

I'm sure that was in CFM's post to start with wasn't it?

Oh well, sorry for the sillyness guys! :dunce:

Hi.

I am new to WRS. Great idea by the way. Its really sprung new life into the game. roll on GTx multiplayer !!

I'm really struggling with T3 though. its bizarre,.. my T1 & T2 times are pretty sweet, fairly competitive looking at the leaderboard but T3 is all over the place, the best i'm getting is a 0'58.x ... cant think what i'm doing wrong. Another couple hundred :) laps may well fix it but i dunno. i think my tuning must be playing a part.

ugh.. anyone else having T3 troubles ?

Yes I'm having T3 troubles. My first two sectors are faster than anyones but my T3 is just beyond terrible compared to the top guys, +/- 56.2/3's...

Hi, First time ive tried the weekly comp and im doing ok but ive got a problem - it says on the first page that the jag when fully modded is at 621 hp....but ive only got mine to 600 hp and ive bought everything from the shop and tuned the settings...what am i missing? :indiff:

definitely your tyres... you have Race Hard tyres on it and not Race Super Hard on your car... i initially did that as well and had times like yours... then looked at the requirements again and saw that i had the wrong tyres on it...

EDIT: never mind i read down and saw that you had done as i thought...
