Just as I figured. I cut 1.5 seconds off. Go me. I'll have to try the 3rd gear final turn and see what happens.

T1: between 40 and 50 seconds :dopey:

I guess we found a good subject to talk about, this week, in place of split times 👍

Anybody else wants to contribute with his/her monkey knowledge? :D

The Wizard.

Interesting Facts about Monkeys:

Monkeys don't eat the peals of their bananas.

Monkeys do not catch colds.

A group of monkeys is called a troop.

The Marmoset is the smallest monkey.

The Baboon is the largest monkey.

The male Howler monkey is the loudest land animal. It can be heard a distance of ten miles.

There are about 125 different species of monkeys.

A monkey was once tried and convicted for smoking a cigarette in South Bend, Indiana. (Really...I seriously doubt this...)

Monkeys live most of their lives in trees.

In captivity, monkeys can live up to 45 years.

Casio's Fact:

A gorilla wouldn't be able to get close to the same time to you in the Ginetta as it is much, much heavier. Think about it....

Thanks Todd.. this combo will be quickly be done and over with.. Exams are coming up, stress meter going insane..

Let alone i have to decipher this monkey, gorilla business!! whats GOING ON HERE!!!

Hopefully ill reach my target in an hour.. coz thats probably the only spare time ill get.. weekend is buggered for me :indiff:

@ Casio: I did see a news report on channel ten (aussie channel :P) about a gorilla in a zoo.. who pick up cigarette butts, and started puffing it.. mimicking the way we humans do, and now apparently that gorilla is addicted!! interesting fact! believe it or not !!!

lol funny stuff... was racing wrs for the last 20 laps or so... couldnt realise why i couldnt even come close to my ghost on the start or finish... like 130kph across the line start and finish.. i only managed somethin like 117-120 avg...
I didnt go change the silly hp or weight
I thought i had pretty quick times on the stock car :D
anyhow back to racing 👍

since there´s nothing to talk about, lets just put more banana into the fire:

monkeys in brazil are called "macacos" if that helps anyone...

lets talk about macacos, shall we?

Humph

👎:grumpy:

I was enjoying the drifting, why did u guys have to go and drive this weex WRS quickly?

Why cant we have a slow lap, thats totally sideways.

Humph.

We could... sounds pretty fun actually. Even if I don't stay on the track while being sideways. Maybe upload two replays this week, assuming I set some time aside to really play this week, haven't spent more than a half an hour on it max and didn't save my ghost because Pat's was still .6 faster...

I can say that I've been in some WICKED drifts this week. Last night I tried taking driving into the hard left leading to the esses without braking (might work if done right actually) and had the car sideways the whole way around. Got a couple of nice photos out of it, but no fast lap...

Oh well...

EEK!

-SHig

Iv tried that too, got the whole way around, but when it came to accelerating away i had no traction
new splits, .2 faster, thats me maxed out for the week already.

Cool avatar there, SHigSpeed 👍

Maybe I should change mine into the GT Lime Monkey, instead :D

EDIT: Just for this week, of course...

Just head down to your local toy emporium and get this kit, couple of hours later you have all the pigmy gorillas you can handle!

BTTW fact,

"Pygmy gorilla (Gabon AFRICA): Adult gorillas that are much smaller than normal have been seen on the Gabon coast. Either a pygmy race, like most animals from that area, or a whole new pygmy species. This is where pygmy chimps, pygmy elephants, pygmy crocodiles, and human pygmies come from; why not pygmy gorillas?"

I know,I know, smartass aint I?

Actually not so much, googlites helped with the quote and the pics! :sly:

What tyres are you guys using to get loads of drift?
I'm on softs all round, should i go soft/medium?

Neil

S/M should give u more drift, its fun REALLY fun, but remember wheelspin is 👎 incase ur trying to trim time with S/M tires.

Cheers Jerome,

Not really interested this week, so far.

had a go on tuesday, but it just did not grab me (if you know what i mean)

Don't like the course at all.

IMO It's a poor addition to the track list, and seriously can't find the inclination to push for a fast time (for me) Mite do it for a laugh in NFS-mode and see how long i can keep the car drifting and still stay on the track to OLR standard.

Next thing we will know is that CFM will put us on the cone-maze tea-break test! :nervous:
EDIT Actually, that mite be fun! That kind of thing is a real sport, apparently.

I had my first 7 laps in the frog-looking car (it's a pity there's no green color), with a best lap at...
max speed : 130 km/h
min speed : 57 km/h

Hard to say something relevant about my lap since lap time is forbidden.

We raced here for the Mini Cup in March or April, and the rules stated that you could discuss lap times, but with an accuracy not greater than 0.1 sec.
That means, if you had a best lap at 1'08.331 you could post 1'08.3xx and if you lapped in 1'07.989 you could post 1'07.9xx (you wouldn't round it to 1'08.0xx would you ?). That was an idea to have people talking about the race despite having no T-time.
Just an idea for the next ones who will post a race on Motorland. ;)

With my current strategy for the track I think I've hit my limit. On two seemingly perfect laps I was 0.05 apart. However I'm pretty sure I'm still 0.5 - 1.0 seconds behind the top runners. So here's my lap run down, feel free to tell me where I'm losing time:

  • I usually hit the start/finish line doing 130km/h (80mph) and I'm very very right so I can get a straight line through the next little kink, usually I have two wheels on the dirt and two on the rumble as I cross the first rumble.

  • Just after I've passed this rumble I'm at the top of 3rd gear and I brake for a short time then turn into the sweeping right powering all the way until it moves to the left edge of the road. As I get to the left edge I touch the brakes briefly and then power back into the corner and sweep back out again on the exit to the very far left. I never drop below 113km/h (70mph) before, during or after the sweeper

  • As the car straightens on the exit of the big sweeper I jump on the brakes and change down to 2nd and veer the car in quite late for the next right hander. I dip down to around 68km/h (42mph)

  • For the double right hander I accelerate through it carefully, not usually 100% throttle. If I do I find it drifts off to the left too far for the next corner. I try to cut the second right hander very tight to set up for the next two corners.

  • Just after I get back on the road from the second right kink I come off the accelerator briefly to help swing the car back in towards the left kink and then cut this kink tightish and move the car to the far right of the track while braking down into 2nd again and down to 54km/h (33mph). From the right side of the track I can then accelerate all the way through this tight hairpin

  • I then accelerate all the way down the straight cutting the first rumble of the esses quite tight and then half way between it and the next rumble I come off the accelerator briefly to poke the car's nose to the right but not too much cause it's coming back left in a tick

  • Just after you cross the second rumble of the esses you may need to ease off the accelerator again to poke your nose through the 3rd rumble and after coming off this rumble you'll be moving quite rapidly and will need to brake hard to take the last right sweeper. At no point during the esses did I drop below 115km/h (71mph)

  • For the last sweeper I've made sure not to sweep too wide and concentrated on getting a good run out of it never dropping out of 3rd gear and going no lower than 78km/h (48mph)
I'm pretty sure I'm not all that close to the top runners though. So any suggestions where time could be made would be much appreciated

Sure sounds about right to me, except I don't brake on the first right sweeper,I just feather the gas . Thanks for the write-up, bet most us Div. 2 guys are gonna be within .200 of each other....I hope!

I'm about at my limit, I just spent 2 hours chasing my fastest ghost and never beat it, but I get ahead of him in places ,just enough to keep me trying.

Well as expected I too hit my limit early. I had a pretty good lap, but shanked one turn so I"m still not satisfied with it...UGH! Atleast this one is a kick in the pants IMO. Loving it!

Jerome

You know Neil, I did the coffe breaks that were in GT Prologue a while back and they were okay :/ but I have never tried any of them in GT4 mainly because IT DOES NOTHING!!!! lol. Oh, and I too know my limit...that's where I'm at! I had another go tonight, but had little luck :/. But its till fun tho!

jump_ace

Well, I'm still not at my limit, but I did manage to shave off 0.23" tonight thanks to a nice ghost to chase. Probably done for tonight, but not for the week. Still have another 0.25" to make my goal and plenty of time to do it.

Later,

-SHig

Nice tips Weary, you have practicly written out my lap exactly, sept i dont brake of let off at the esses  Theres still time to be found apparently though :(, i drop to 45mph on last corner though so i guess thats it...

This is my first race in the WRS and I'am quite sure it's not gonna be an excellent time, but I did really enjoy this one. Wicked car and Irritating track = an excellent combo.

But does anyone else find him/ herself really starting to hate the ghost car. I actually found myself shouting at him (I call him Ilb, which is short for Irritating Little B******) and what is even worse, when you are occasionally faster, the next lap he becomes even more irritating!

But hey, I guess that's the whole point of a ghost....

Of course you could turn the ghost off (up on the directional pad). That's what I do. I run with no ghost and watch the POSITION indicator in the upper left to see if I'm faster or slower (says 1 or 2) and then I peek on the straights to see where I am relative. I can't drive with the ghost on full time, too distracting.

/\ What he said. Welcome dude! Hope your stay is a pleasant one because:

Cut another half second off. Getting close to my limit it seems. If I could pull off the drift for the double left, I think I could cut another .1-.2 seconds.
