No doubt about that. Its really crazy to see how different the settings can be for different drivers to get fast times.

I guess that proves that setup is more art than science.

Good point, I just wish I was the 'artist' Holl01 is... He once gave me some settings for the NSX @ Grand Valley without even racing it, I only made 2 minor adjustments and it was good to go, amazing.

The tall gearing is amazing, although i think the biggest thing is to make sure youre in the powerband as much as possible, probably with the taller gearing putting the engine at lower rpms at critical points on the track a lift or stab at the throttle doesnt upset the car as much, making a bigger difference in handling than anything else. I checked it out at the test track and the taller gearing is slower (edit: in acceleration) by itself.

My best times came with the gearing set at 310, the shift light is just starting to blink in 5th gear at the end of the backstraight.
I agree! I'm just now getting back to the combo after my first real stint, and am very greatly hoping to put down something fast.

This car is a rally car, rally cars have HUGE powerbands, so I really think that using this taller gearing will make it easier to put down consistent fast laps. Also, with this car, it starts to lose power just as the shift light starts blinking, so... PERFECT! 310 for me, now I just need to relearn the track after being gone for almost a week and hop to it! 👍

in case ur wondering, i also used 260 gearing, as gear 3 in that setting was very good for most of the corners that are around 100-110km/h. good luck in the results fellas. also my t3 finish was just okay, but i have done it .050 faster. in the lap i submitted, the splits were fairly insane up untill i stuffed up the long hairpin after t2, lost .075 or thereabouts, and then a further .040 i lost at the next corner

t1 was xx.587 (seen xx.421 that was really insane, and i was also in good shape for the next corner also, meaning i wasnt too far to the right on exiting the tuneel)

t2 was xx.697 (seen xx.622 also)

t3 was 1'01.645

allright i'm off, cya

Unfortunately I am not up to this challenge. I can tell that the car has a lot more to give than I can handle.

I did get a huge improvement and saved the ghost. I figured with a little more practice I could get T1 down to around 16.0, and T3 down to around 1:03, but I couldn't do a clean lap.

Here are the splits from the lap I will be submitting:

T1 16.642
T2 37.233 (ugh!)
T3 1:05.019 (get a decent T1 and choke at the end!)

With a lot more time I know I could do better, but I think the fun would go down and the frustration would go up. So I quit now while it was still fun.

Times submitted...no improvement for 5 days. Too much overthinking. Good luck everyone, sure we'll see the usual suspects at the top again...you friggin guys are amazing!

well, at the start of this session, i was very angry at this combo.

because, my top time was from wednesday. i couldn´t believe how many good laps i had stuffed. then today i said to myself "i won´t restart until i get a groove"

had about 25 laps, and i saw that i was very calm.

thing is, this is not previous GTs. the thing that separates me from a holl or a hotboi is the braking, something i still suck badly.

as a result, i was pushing too hard, overbraking, abusing just because it was a rally car.

one other mistake. "oh, this is a rally car, so short gears are better"

dah :grumpy:

for me was way better to use only 3 gears (3rd, 4th and 5th) that´s why the 310 is so good, because its the limit to stay in 5th with good power.

so, with a lap very calm and pacient, in the end i got:

T1 -15´806
T2 -34´838
T3 -1´01´998

not my best splits as i was killing T1 with constant 15´5s, but it was the best clean lap... will not be good for a podium, but i´m happy and relieved that i finally was able to figure out my mistakes... and learn a bit more... anything in the top 10 will be good. its nice to leave a combo knowing that i left some 0´4 in the track with my combined splits... its better than not knowing what to do to go faster...

bring on week 35 👍

and curtis, i WAS ahead of the ghost, but stuffed many laps before the end... you put too much pressure with your mighty subaru...

Meh, gained .2, and the way I'm taking a couple of turns is holding me back, but I don't want to take the time to figure out the RIGHT way to go around them, so I'm going to submit this one.
T1: 15.99(7?)
T2: 35.4(6x?)
T3: 1'02.66(5?)

Time submitted, last i knew i was 7th. Just like Fasj, I know i left probably 3/4 of a second on a lap I dunno if its a good feeling tho.. in the 85 or so laps i put in this week youd think i would have been able to string at least one of them.

Saw:
T1 -15.557
T2 -34.790
T3 -1'01.7xx

Submitted:
T1 -15.746
T2 -35.192
T3 -1'02.454

Maybe next week..

Good luck everybody!

Edit: that looked like carp..

Yeah, I'm done too. Final T3 split is 1'01.674 I think? Might be .647, I didn't run for a few days. Been busy. But at least I got in the 6's. :)

DFP was an advantage this week IMO. Many places with left foot brake on full throttle, and a lot of areas where you are just barely, barely, tapping them too. Tough to do on a pad! UR right fasj, it was a momentum race. I ran 300 gearing all week. 310 was too long coming out of corners. I couldn't pull a good lap using 6th gear with 260 gearing. I never got to try Vexd's 400 gearing, so maybe the ratio's were better in 2,3,4 than 3,4,5? Interesting. Wish I would have had the chance to try it. :indiff:

Well anyway, good to see so many running so close in all the divisions this week! Makes it interesting that's for sure. 👍

Luck to all!

Had another run at this tonight, became pretty frustrating in the end. :grumpy:
Saw numerous 15.7xx and 35.2xx sectors but couldn't clean up the back end of the lap to take advantage. :(

Did take an extra 2/10ths off my final time, although the T3 sector is about 2/100ths slower than the last set of splits I posted :boggled:!

T3 of 1'02.61x for my submitted lap.

Submitted.

One of the few people to still using low gears (240), I got this time last thursday but I havn't had the chance to try and beat it...grrr

yeah, that´s the thing... maybe lots of drivers saw great splits, but to put 3 sectors togheter was a pain...

i know is not great to left some time in the track, but i did get happy to figure out what i had to do in the end... next time i will take it easy with a rally car... (never tought i would say that).

it was really frustrating until last night, but then, just by beating my personal goal of getting better its worth it... :)

wish i had run taller gears all week... i should known already, taller gears and lower RPM´s makes handling a bit better, a bit loose... in this combo, a tighter subaru means you have to fight against that stupid back end flip :grumpy: :yuck:

so, i think that´s the reason some of us liked the taller gears, because its noticiable that the handling is better... also, it made me cross the line at 230-232, as i was in the right spot of the powerband...

on a final note...

well steve, looks like your glory days are back... you are almost earning "alien" status... 1´01´6xx that´s really good... you might have a chance against the other aliens... great stuff 👍

15.918
35.268
1'02.460

Submitted, managed to get that .2 i lost in T3 - Finish

Was able to gain .2 from T2 to the end of the straight, once i was .3 ahead of my ghost at this point but could never make use of it.

Put in a decent effort but nothing outstanding.

I feel so slow :(, no idea how you guys are going so fast.......

top speed 260

I don't know about glory days being back San Fran.... But Trial M is imprinted on my brain from GT3, and the subie was one of my all time favorites from GT3, (many laps round route 11) so this week........a wee bit alienlike. 👍

It's good to see you broke 1'02 @ T3. 👍 :)

Had a satisfying session last night. Monkeys were in rare form and I shaved off almost 0.3".

Have I mentioned that I LOVE this combo? :^)

I used 300 top speed, and will comment that ANY drifting will kill your time. Minor's comment that it was a DFP week was spot on especially with the subtle whisper braking and left foot magic. Looks like a lot of close racing though. Hope I did the last segment okay! Gonna be my best showing in a while.

T1 15.803 (Had a 15.766)
T2 35.134 (Had a SMOKIN' 34.997 but I wasted two tenths finishing that lap)
T3 1'02.245 (Satisfied, yet with another session I think I could drop into the 1'01s)

Submitted.

I just pop in to say that I have no connection to the Internet from the hotel I'm staying in, so I won't be able to post the results right after deadline.
I'll do my best to read all my posts and prepare the result thread tomorrow morning from the customer and post the results within 24 hours.
