Hells yes! A3 of course:
T1: 19.293
T2: 37.772

Seen faster splits... I only have 433 hp though because my car has 1600!!!! miles on it!(used it for b-spec training and some enduros) So, before the week's over, I'll have to purchase a new one for the full 436hp. I am SO glad I already basically had the car setup though. Just had to reduce most of the lift-throttle oversteer(still there, might have to reduce it some more...) and lengthen the gearing from its escapades in Paris. Currently, the car drives VERY similarly to last week's Scooby.

More to come from me!

Ps. I guess it also helps that Grand Valley is one of my favorite tracks... Although, I rarely drive the East course, so, it's not as big of an advantage as it normally would be for me. I don't know what I'm doing quite yet on the turns after T2 leading to the finish...

quick question for the Golf users....
What mods did you use to get 428 HP?.... I think there may be a few different ways..lol
I have, oil change, sport exhaust, na tune stage 3, engine balancing, port/polish... 428 on the nose :)
No chip....

I got the same result as you...not sure why yours don't work out BTTW, try the settings GTrackd suggests?!?

Anyway here are my splits for that car:

Car: Volkswagon Golf IV R32 '03 (428 hp)
T1: 0'19.406
T2: 0'37.674

I tried the TT and it struggled to keep up with the R32 in my opinion...but then I tried:

Car: Audi A3 3.2 Quattro '03 (436 hp)
T1: 0'19.411
T2: 0'37.637

I haven't tried the Beetle yet but so far the A3 is the bomb, my T2-Finish was easier to do with it as well 👍

Gave the Audi TT a try, had a bit of a fiddle and came up with these splits.

T1 - 19.202
T2 - 37.896

I intend to give the other car choices a run as well, but this is a decent start to the week
for me, so I'm a happy camper :).

in the A3 at the moment, may try some other cars later, the little bugger has a bit of brake induced oversteer just but that is easily countered... i can't see me going much more than a few tenths quicker in the A3 than what i have managed with my current splits... would like to break the minute barrier but that may have to be left to the H's... am close, but i think i will fall a little bit short of that target...

T1: 19.204 (seen a couple of 19.1xx)
T2: 37.203 (mucked up one of the corners, about 0.2 i reckon)

and the settings i am using on the A3 if anyone wants them

10.0 | 13.0
90 | 94
6 | 7
7 | 8
2.6 | 1.0
-1 | 1
4 | 7
no lsd
auto = 14
diff = 3.700
downforce = 30 |30
VCD = 10
no driver aids

Havnt bothered with anything else, mainly because i dont like them so its the Audi A3 all the way for me. Quick 10 lap session.

T1: 19.654
T2: 38.634

I was determined to get a clean lap because i did a fast run but it was dirty, it did include 2 stunningly fast drifts though on turn one and the right hander before the tunnel.

Thanx mate, helped me out!

seems odd not to have the racing chip fitted, but now bang on 428Hp.

Neil

EDIT

New splits with 428Hp

19.450
38.266

Now to start tuning the handling.

Hello there,

Just a short message to tell you that all cars seem to have quasi-equivalent performances and all mods are allowed (wing, R5 tires, etc.)

I'll be back online friday evening,
Talk to you soon.

A3 at full power, I cant seem to get rid of the damn snap oversteer.

...Doesnt help that this is the FIRST time ive tried to set up any car in GT4. :dunce:

T1 - 19.554 :yuck:
T2 - 38.215

I hope it comes back to me. Shock, I think Ill try out your settings..

Half of winning is attitude, the other half is effort. You'll do fine man. Try to ignore who is faster than you, concentrate on improving at your own level it will come BELIEVE ME.

jump_ace

Great advice there Jump-Ace! 👍

Sounds almost 'yoda' like...though if Yoda said it, it would sound more like:

Winning is attitude No! Ignore those who are faster, yes! Young Jedi's improve at own level!

Sorry..sounds better then it reads...! :D

Ok so I know I just posted but ,with alot of help from different gearing I am getting better....so new splits...

T-1 19.338
T-2 37.698 :)

A little LSD info:
4WD, as little LSD as possible. LSD stuffs 4WD up big time, causing understeer. Think about it. 4WD already has grip to all 4 tires. If LSD is activated, it transfers grip to the other tires, which REDUCES grip to the tire loosing grip. Silly. Many racers think this controls understeer, but really what is happening is that they are reducing the power to the wheels = slower car = less understeer. If you are gonna have high LSD on a 4WD to get rid of understeer, you might as just drive slowly around corners. Use TCS to control wheelspin on high powered 4WDs (greater than 500hp).

Nat, my splits are with the VW Golf!

Neil

OMG my T1 time is the fastest yet :D:D I'm truly shocked . ( by .002 )

Now Nat dont go updating that board for a few days at least please

Thx Ray! Its amazing how much I have learned in 6 months, you guys should seriously take a look at my splits from week 7....HAHAHAHAHA! I was in the middle of D3! Great to know I have improved ;)

Just under an hour into this thing. And about 3/4 of this track is a no-brainer, but hte T1 - T2 section is CRUCIAL, I can see trimming another .3 or so to hit 37 flat...hopefully....
T1 - 19.372 (19.2xx)
T2 - 37.346 (37.0xx)
End - Lost a little bit of time against my ghost, so overall I'm shooting for another .4 or .5 something like that.

YOU used to be in D3 too?! I didn't know that! WOW! More props to you, mister Division one guy! Haha.

My LSD settings fwiw were 5/5/5 for the front, and I think 5/10/5 for the back. That's just how I had it in the past, so I might reduce the back's accel rate more... We shall see.

And what the heck. Casio, what division are you in? Didn't you get promoted? Oye!

No I qualified into Div 2, its just where my splits were set I was pretty far down the bottom with the D3 guys. Sorry for the confusion...lol.

new splits.. Obviously not fast at all yet with the A3. Still kinda fighting the snap oversteer in the right hander before the tunnel hairpin.. But I did take almost a second and a half off by putting the wing on.

T1 - 19.565
T2 - 37.781

EDIT: Got some new splits.. finally getting somewhere! It looks like Audi pretty much has a monopoly on the leaderboard this week..

T1 - 19.381
T1 - 37.535

I hope it comes back to me. Shock, I think Ill try out your settings..

the A3 still pops out a little in a couple of spots between T1 and T2 but that is largely due to turning whilst braking, but it is much easier to catch now, i don't think i have quite got the settings right with it, but it does turn in much more keenly than the TT does... oh and you can purchase the wing in GT Auto mate... will turn in much quicker with it turned up to the max, but it will lose a little in top speed...

and i reckon for this week i might find another 0.3 but will miss my overall target... just... seen T1 of 19.1 quite a few times, lowest was a 19.114, but i ballsed up sector 2, and have had some wicked pace through T2 but lost it on the right hander straight after the T2 timing beam...so i reckon i can crack a 36.9, we shall see by the end of the week...

Got some more laps in he beetle. It's really not that far behind in T1. But it's losing it to T2. Or I''m just a hopeless driver. Either way, I want about .6 off by end of the week.

T1 - 19.5xx
T2 - 38.5xx

I was in Division 2 as far as I knew! I think Flat-Out just made an error in the results part of last week.

Lol, but I thought I remembered you getting promoted... And then you might've said you didn't want to be promoted or something?

I kind of have the urge to hope in the other cars now and try them, because I don't want the A3 to be the only car on there, and I don't want people to think it's the fastest. So I want to make sure that it isn't, lol. I'm gonna try the other cars with settings similar to my A3 and see what happens.

Uh... So I hopped into the Golf... And within maybe 10 laps after tuning it, I beat my A3's splits and overall lap. I'm hoping that's mainly because I drove it better, and this car has it's full allotment of power, vs my current A3's 3hp disadvantage.

Saw a T1 that was 19.1xx I think, or maybe just a REALLY low 19.2, and a T2 that was 37.3xx, my fastest T2 yet. I gave myself a ghost to chase in the A3 though, so I'm hopping back into that. I think I'm going to go get a new one first though...

That's enough for me seeing how closely these cars are matched. The Golf and A3 handle very similarly, the A3 makes its power a little higher, and I think it might have less torque, but I'm not sure. Either way, they're very close on the track, and that's good nuff for me, no real advantage/disadvantage found in my short stint.

A3 on!

Another nice combo, Cyril. 👍

After first session:

19.301
37.991

Audi A3 3.2 Quattro '03

Driven stock except aids, gears and downforce.

Make that, an EXTREMELY NICE COMBO! OH MY!!! 💡 👍 👍 👍 👍 :sly: 👍 👍 👍 👍 :) :) :) :) :dopey: :) :)

Damn I'm loving this. Had quite the session there...

Ok, first things first. Golf R32 vs A3 3.2Q:
Golf, tends to be a little smoother when on the brakes, but still does the oversteer thing, just not quite as badly as the A3 does, but on the downside, it understeers a bit more coming out of the corners. The A3 has 8 more horsepower, but 4 less lb.ft of torque... Weights? I don't know. Suspension tuning can obviously change the entry and exits of the cars, but generally speaking, that's about how they did with basically the same tune(my tune) out of the box.

On to the cool stuff. I LOVE THIS COMBO!!! The shortness of the track, just over one minute laps, makes for many laps and many laps! Less restarting, because there is just a little more to go before you finish the dirty lap and you're onto your next one already. Well, that's how it was anyway, now I'm to the point where I've got the track in me head well enough that I can restart if I'm near the beginning because I don't really NEED that much more practice at the end of the track.

The very cool part is, I can basically see what I'm doing. I'm a bit hazy on a couple of corners, but my laps are generally all within a few tenths of each other. Once I get it all down though, oye oye oye. I feel special this week. :scared: Someone needs to put me in my place! Not D1! just off the top of the board... Or maybe I'll fight for it this week? :sly: Nah, that's :scared:y. I'm loving the track, and loving the car. Soooo sweet.

Splits?
T1: 19.055(seen 19.041 once, followed by another 36.9xx something, but messed it up later)
T2: 36.912(fastest T2 so far)
T3: Not fast enough.

More to come accross all the T times. T1 can't go too much faster, MAYBE, just MAYBE 19 flat, and I don't know how much faster I'll get at T2. That partially depends on the drift around the right turn, immediately before the left sharp turn into the tunnel before T2... Seen some crazy drifts through there...

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!  :dopey:
