KLR, may I just say.. Holy Crap! I dont know where you found that .3 second but I need it! If I can find that through T1 I might be able to match your T2, or better yet break that "other" time barrier on a full lap... Ive been doing the same drift around the right hander that you mentioned. I only crash into the wall about 2 times out of 5 now..

Im guessing that was all with the A3... Thats an awesome car, I have no plans to switch, even out of the box it doesnt understeer nearly as bad as I had thought.

Im still not sure on the setup though, were you planning on posting yours?

Splits?
T1: 19.055(seen 19.041 once, followed by another 36.9xx something, but messed it up later)
T2: 36.912(fastest T2 so far)

I've been trying for ages to beat my ghost and I can't, you have destroyed Div 2 this week...nice work man 👍

Nailed a lap last night, uber-pleased with it:

T1: 19'846
T2: 38.785

I was in the golf, its so nice under braking it don't go out of place at all for me.

Thanks! :) I don't know about me having it destroyed this week though... That was only the second day! There are still a lot of people who haven't raced yet, and hopefully they WILL, because it's an AWESOME race.

Yep, A3 it was. I was planning on using that car from the beginning, and I don't really feel that it's necessarily the fastest... I still haven't tried the TT or the RSi, so I might have a try at those now that my splits are so down there... I think by the end of the week, if I have enough time, I can get through that other barrier... There's just soooo much time hiding in the last right turn before the right sweeper onto the Start/Finish straight, I can tell it's there because I'm not swinging wide or taking completely the correct line through it. Gotta get that figured out and I think I'll be there soon enough! 👍

Settings? Sure. Not far from stock actually, and this is on a new A3, not my 1600+mile one, which had stiffer suspension, I just hadn't tried out softer suspension with that one. Then I switched cars and decided to leave it near stock springs for any bumps that I might encounter...

LSD 5/5/5 5/5/5

Gearing, my custom version of the tranny trick: Move final to 4.700, move auto to 1, move final back to 3.000 and don't touch the auto again. Adjust initial final to wherever you need it to make it so you run out of whatever gear you want to end in(in this case, on the A3, 6th gear, I might do 5th on the Golf though, and I originally started out using 2nd through 5th on the A3 as well), and of course so that your gearing matches well enough with the course.

Downforce 30/30

VCD 10

Suspension basically, just bumped the shock's bound down to 6 and 5, 6 in the front to reduce dive, bound is at 8/9, to reduce dive again, ride height is 86/85, also to try and keep the rear on the ground during braking, camber was started at 2.4, but that was too aggressive, so now I'm at 2.0/1.0, and I might get around to lowering that more, don't know if it'll help though. Sways are still 4/4, and toe is still 0/0.

The stuff to reduce dive was just in haste, but I think it did actually help a little. Give it a try I guess?

Now I hope this setup doesn't make people come back and kick my arse... But I do expect some people to be faster than I this week, so... Good luck! Haha.

bbq, I hadn't seen you before, but the past two weeks(I think), you've been making quite the showing... I was thinking your splits were pretty damn fast those weeks! Couldn't touch'm!

Edit: Springs are 7.5/6.0. The same general tuning theory and settings almost(move front spring up a notch or two, but leave rear spring rate stock), and then the same settings elsewhere, and you should be in a pretty good game with the Golf as well. But, it'll exit slower if you leave it the same... Gotta tune in a little less understeer on the way out of those turns, these settings "should" only make that worse actually, assuming these cars act the way you'd think they would in real life when responding to tuning... Which they, sadly, don't really.

*Whistles* Excellent work man, u know what ur doing, hell I just guess and check my settings. See ya at the finish, or maybe you'll be gone by the time I cross it...lol :)

Had a good go of it last night. VW R32. Another fine week with finesse driving necessary plus a few shenanigans necessary for good speed through the turn prior to the left into the tunnel.

T1 19.132 (seen 19.099)
T2 37.082 (seen 37.029)

Looks like KLR has pipped me for top T2 (so far) but I don't see the high 36s lasting. I think 36.5 is doable. Just need to do more tuning I think and of course I need to learn to drive...

BTW, I had a strange glitch last night where the fastest lap (and therefore savable ghost) wasn't updating. I quit a session after beating my fast time to save only to save the previous time. I thought maybe I was going nuts and didn't actually beat my fast time so I drove for a bit more and eventually beat my time again, only to have the same thing happen. I saved the entire 6 lap replay, but this sucks!

Oh well...

More to come,

New T times for me, im dam happ with them too, i dont think i can get much more out of this A3.

T1: 19.571
T2: 38.288

Starting to tune the suspension, only got the 1.5 diff in too for the moment.

Still in the Golf

19.426
37.982

Slightly better, but can't seem to get the first corner right.

More to come!

KLR ... I can't tell if you're using the A3 or Golf now ... you talk about them both equally.

Board updated ... but with this caveat.

KLR, those settings are way different than anything ive tried so far, although Im going away this weekend and may not get a chance to test them until monday 👎

Yeah I used to be pretty good at GT3 WRS, top 5 in div 1 there for the 10 weeks or so I ran. I quit the wrs for a while when GT4 first came out, last week was my first week back, so well see how it goes. Hopefully I can stick around for a while this time.

Looking at last weeks leaderboard, you had me cooked until I got the lap I actually submitted, so Id say were probably pretty equal skill wise, I got lucky. I just hope I can keep up with you this week!

I just did a phenominally fast run, so fast in fact that i didnt notice i had 3 wheels off the track at one point. That had a T2 of 37.7xx or something.

I agree, I just got a good session going and already basically had a base tune, so I was a little ahead of the game. Also, I am a great fan of Grand Valley, so I just need to get those few non-speedway turns down, and I'll be set!

Oh come on... If you actually READ THROUGH it all, lol, you'd know what I'm using... :-P J/k! :sly: But yeah, I'm still in the A3, I'm going to stay in it for the week, so don't worry about changing that at all. I'm going to have a go in the RSi in a bit to see how competitive it is/isn't... The Golf and TT are definitely players in this game, the RSi's the only one left to check out.

KLR-

your settings get me:
T1 - 19.278
T2 - 37.194

I dont see anybody getting through the last section as fast (or as luckily!) as I did with those settings.

does 1 and 3/4 tires on the track through the last section count? I think it used to be good as long as two tires ar touching the track, is that still true? Man I wish I had an AR max...

With KLR and now bbq throwin' down quick times in the Audi, I may have to reconsider the Golf. I won't be at the wheel until tomorrow night at the soonest, but I'll have to try it.

So far on the board, fasj is the quickest with the TT and I know he has pace, so we'll see if he can put down a 37.0 with that car. With no wing available on the Beetle I can't see that being competitive.

Another fun one Cyril!

Lol, I don't blame you, I can't say I didn't get a lil confused typing it!

I was thinking about switching back over to the Golf because it doesn't get so happy when you lift off the throttle...

This week is definitely another one where the DFP CAN have an advantage if you're able to control it well enough, but then again, I hear there are some insane people with DS2s too that can probably do it just as well...

And that's right, I forgot, the Beetle doesn't have a wing, so I'm not going to even try it... Or, is the wing that's on it already adjustable?

jump_ace
So if none of those are near you...umm...do u have electricity? j/k... 👍

Jerome

Nah, i have the new special edition crank version ps2... seriously though, I was planning on getting one, but didnt know if I was on the right track. thanks Jerome

T1 - 19.415
T2 - 37.566

A couple of tenths quicker than my previous quickest, but over a second quicker at the end!? I must have really nailed those last couple of corners, which is odd since i've just added the 'roll cage' which has induced more understeer that i've not yet managed to dial out.

I'm running the A3 by-the-way.

is just me, or this week is getting almost no interest?

its lot of fun, too bad i have a HUGE job tryout on dec 18, so i have to study a lot until then... (80 questions, multiple answers   oh god, its high school all over again   )

i will only have one more session, without testing setupes ans cars, hope the A3 is the one to go...

great week, but looks like we will have a small crowd this time...

I think it's because we're in GT Mode with a selection of cars. Not everyone has the time and money to upgrade 4 cars, set them up, and test them to see which one is the fastest. Also, while this isn't the most challenging of track, it's hard as **** to shave tenths off your time. I had about an hour run yesterday and cut .1 off my time, but all my other times were around that.

It's a fun combo, but I feel it would of been better if we just had the one car. Pretty much everyone ends up is choosing the same car anyway in these events.

On a personal note. My beetle is slowly getting quicker, I hope to get another .2 off my time. Either way I'm going to be at the bottom of whatever division I'm in, it's a shame, because it's a really cool car. I was going to have a big run at it tomorrow, but I but called in to work, AT 6AM! As Tommy Lee once said "I don't even get up at that time for sex..."

F- that, I didnt bother with any of the other cars:lol: I had the R-32 in the garage, unmolested at that, with 57 miles on it.... took it out and flogged it...
I dont need any other cars..... I have to get my t-1 under 19.00 I had it there a few times, never on a clean lap though).. And then work on a t-2 of under 37.3 thats about the best I can see me getting... anyways fun stuff this week :)

Bugger-me!

Those are low bars you have set yourself mate!

Especially for someone who say they are "Div 3 with DFP and I'm slow" in their sig.

Neil

I've only tried the one car myself (the A3) - looking at the list of sector times so far, i don't think one car stands out more than any other. I'd rather concentrate on lapping with one car then spreading that available time between 4 cars hoping that one will be .1 or .2 quicker - i can shave that sort of time off with contant lapping.

I do love GVE, but once you start trying for a really quick time in a car of this level of modification some of the sections start to become really technical.

well, I dont think i can make the under 19.00 stick, but the 37.3 should be easy..lol i hope!

And i am slow, look at the d1-2 guys... :)

At this point i dont really care what my t times are, Im just going for that certain time at the finish.

I dont know how to get T1 under 19... the lowest ive seen was a 19.14 or something like that. I assume you have to rev the sheet out of it to get there, but even shifting at 7600 rpm in the A3 is still cant get it..
