sweet, i´ve been waiting for this race a long time ago...

lots of strategy going on

great combo flat-out 👍 skyline + NOS = a match made in heaven 👍

don´t know about the 6´40 replay thing...

the zonda makes the race at 6´35-6´37. i beat him in my last race, and i think if the 6´40 rule apply, you will get plenty of replays to watch...

great car, lots of understear... so we have to tune a lot.

one more thing... 7 laps without touches... but what if the AI stupidly bumps me?
i think its the first time we actually have a fast AI to deal, so this might be new...
don´t know what do you guys think about that...

I totally agree man, if the AI hits YOU then maybe we can coax Cyril into allowing it? Prolly not, but I'm with ya Francisco!

I think allowing 1 AI or slight wall nudge would be a good idea here, or even having a bit of penalty system. 7 laps on this tight course will be extremely hard to keep clean.

Err...What a waste. I havn't really used NOS before except for mucking around, and I didn't know that it doesn't refill when you pit, how stupid is that. Anyway, with my 1 stopper, which was really bad overall. I got a fastest lap of 52.944.

I agree with Ben. AI is uber tough to get by clean. My best race, (none clean yet) I got by the first 3 clean only to have the 4th one swing into the rear of my car with a slight touch.....and well, it was MY line! :grumpy:

Anyway, R4 in front, R5 in rear. NOS at 15 for the SF straight only. No pit. Best lap in the 54.1 range. Lots of time to get, if you get by AI clean.

The Ford is pretty easy to beat by miles. (pass before end of second lap) The Zonda can be beat comfortably. :)

Maybe any time under 6'34 should be the cutoff for replay? That way you know that the race was won. Otherwise, tons of replays to check! :ouch:

Cool race tho. Great car and a fast track, which IMO runs better in reverse. I won't have much time for it this week, but hopefully will get a clean race to submit by next week. 👍

Just missing the 6'40 mark. Should be able to beat it after a few races but not by much. Can't catch the Zonda, the only way to beat him is to get close enough to draft by him on the last lap to take the checkered. Would be to nervous about passing before then because he prob. will nerf you at the end of the straight.
Fast lap 55.830

Umm...I didn't get the Zonda in my 3 goes at it.

Maybe a PAL/NTSC thing?

handful of races so far running this setup... link

should be able to pull another couple of seconds out of it yet... using NOS @ 40, using the NOS during 3rd and 4th gears down the SF straight, and am passing the zonda just before the end of the second lap...

on another note the cars i am racing against are:

1st round of races:

Pagani Zonda LM Race Car '01
Mitsubishi FTO Super Touring Car '97
Honda NSX-R Prototype LM Race Car '02
Subaru Impreza Super Touring Car '01
Toyota RSC Rally Raid Car '02

am nearly lapping the Toyota...

EDIT: just ran a 6'33, beat the Zonda by 8 seconds, still didn't pass that damn toyota, was a clean lap bar a slight "love tap" from one of the other racers...

i went back out to the Home screen and then back in again i have a new set of racers...

Ford GT LM Race Car '02
Nissan GT-R Concept LM Race Car '02
Subaru Impreza Super Touring Car '01
Mazda RX-7 LM Race Car '01
Mitsubishi FTO Super Touring Car '97

the Ford GT was second and i beat it by 13 seconds when i had another crack at it...

about the top times, maybe we could discuss the first lap and also the fastest lap... that way, wouldn´t be NOS biased (i´m also betting this word exists)

about the touches, even the BC race 10 allowed 2 touches... ok, it was a much tougher race, but you get the spirit...

i was also bumped from behind by those idiot AI´s... so, its up to you flat-out...

about the replays, i think 10 or more racers will win the race... (early thinking, might be different) so, once again, what´s best for you i think...

about the race itself... using NOS at 70, still didn´try with less power... anyway i only did 3 races... changed the usual stuff, no aids, max downforce, LSD at 5, the basic...

also, since its a turbocharged nissan, long gears 👍

best lap was 54´9xx, but my race was a learning process, i just want to stay in front of the zonda to see if he would overtake me again or not...

ran with R3/R4, but in the end i think you can go with R4/R5 and get a lot faster 👍

great fun :dopey:

Discussing first lap and fastest lap is a good idea. I support this and I'll update the rules in post #1.

I had practiced about 50 times this race with several tuning cars at several power levels and always had the same opponents (Zonda, RX-7, Impreza, RSC...).
Yesterday I started to race with the chosen car/power and for the first time I had different cars.

My current settings (though it might not help anyone since I didn't mess too much with it and anyway I'm crap at it) :
  • tyres : racing medium (no pit)
  • NOS : 20 and using it in 2nd and 3rd gear only (lasts all 7 laps)
  • brakes : 7 | 3
  • suspension : default except ride height at 80 | 80 and stabs at 3 | 3
  • tranny : auto 9 (final driver 4.111)
  • aids : 0 | 0 | 2
  • downforce : 30 | 35 (maximum)
  • LSD : 5 | 10 | 5 for both front and rear

I had one clean race (12 starts) and several others with only 1 wall brush. AI are not a problem but I only overtake them in the straights and use NOS.
I'm restarting the race when AI bumps into me, which only happens in lap 1, so it's not a big problem.
Allowing touches will just cause too many discussions about what is brushing, touching, bumping, etc or about the part that was touched (rear, side, etc) as it happened to Ron (Mr P.) in his SOTC series when he allowed 3 AI touches in the race.

    For the saved race :
    Best lap : 57.169
First lap : 1'06.x (the slower first lap I ever had)

    First lap T2 : 43.570
other laps T2 range from 35.092 to 35.462
Finished 7.602 seconds behind the Nissan GT-R Concept

1st lap: 1.01.1
Best Lap: 53.5
Av. from 1 - 7: 53.7

Best T2: 32.4

Took serious chunk out of my first attempt in this run.

Thanks!
Much appreciate it!

NOTE: I wish most folks who jump at saying 'search' actually attempt to indicate what terms to look under, as I tried searching under:

Ubber Save
Game Saves
MAX Saves
GT Game Saves

and still found nothing..which I guess is why there's GOOGLE! :D which did find
I actually searched 'ubersave' with one -b-. (From the german über which means 'over', 'super', like Nietzsche's 'übermensch').

That's the one I had in mind. I've always read lots of books (both in french and english) and the result is that I know many words without knowing that I know them (read that part of the sentence again slowly, that'll help to understand it :) ) until they pop up into my mind and I wonder if they really mean what I think they mean.

lol

Funny thing is, that even tho i read a LOT, and have a scientific background, sometimes my brain forgets how to spell simple words.

So, just to stop me looking like an idiot, i have that site bookmarked to check.
It's good because it not only a thesaurus but also a dictionary and encylopedia too!

Ask me to spell a 20-25 letter scientific word and it's easy, but every now and again i spell field and friend etc wrong.

Daft huh?

Im back after a week out, and OMG, this looks fun!!!! Never raced the track, as far as i know, so....back later with an appauling time...

Playing with the settings so not got anything worth posting setup-wise.

1st lap 1'04.557 (with two love-taps from 'back and to the left!')
fastest 55.735

And the fanal time is less than 1/4 of a second per lap slower than would require verification, when i've only started making changes.

Also I am still 2.5 secs behind the first place guy, I can catch him up nicely in the corners only for him to march away from me on the straights.
So the question to Cyril is:-

Do we have to win the race to qualify for getting a time in?
If so, i hope i can find the setup to catch that bleeding feather-weight Zonda!

Neil

Well now that I KNOW I'm off pace (thx Kart! :P ) I'll put my lap times down. And what MinorShunt said about lowering the replay verification time cuz I was below it on my second attempt and even then I hit a wall or two wlowing me down quite a bit. So yeah 6:34.xxx should be checked. And I *guess I see your point F.O. about allowing touches, I can deal with it as its only the first lap anyway and the car drives well enough that if it hits a wall its totally my fault.

First Lap: 1:03.3xx
Fastest Lap: 55.1 (in an earlier race I got a 54.4, but I used a LOT of NOS :D)
Avg: Is around 55.7 give or take, by the last 2 laps it turns out to be almost 56 flat.

Now as most of you know, I'm not a killer driver in Sim Mode, but that is mainly because we tend to do those 2 lap things for little nancy's who still play in their sandbox. Now these multilapper's I enjoy closer to real life racing I guess Love the combo dude!

Of course not !
The only thing you need is to run a clean (wall and AI contact free) race. Whether you finish 1st, 2nd, or 6th doesn't matter at all : as long as it's clean you can submit your time.
I don't expect all drivers to win the race.

And concerning the sub-6'40 replay request, I don't want to request more replays than I usually do. Maximum the 2 or 3 fastest race times for each division, and perhaps 1 or 2 random racers too.

Good idea man, I dont want you to work more than you have to.

Jerome

not so sure about a AI contact or not, but after some tweaking and strategy, i got this:

first lap - 1´01´8xx
best lap - 53´4xx

pretty consistent, but my ending was awful, 6th lap was off pace, and the last lap was 3 seconds slower... tire wear is really bugging in the final lap...

back with a more detalied post later...

(that if someone wants to try my always different settings and stuff  :dopey: )

great combo, but the AI is really 🤬 everytime is a differnt set of cars for me, and they are always in my way after turn 1...

:sly: This is fun. Great combo. 👍 👍

first lap 1'01.705 - 1'02.1xx
fast lap 54.196 - 53.765 Second session, beat my goal :sly:  and prob. will be my time i will turn in

Just need to nail the esses section, need to be smooth and fast :scared:

this looks interesting, particularly how and when u use NOS. i reckon that a few uses of it (but for long periods) would be better than using it regularly but sparingly, but anyway, sounds fun, will give it a go tonight, also clever little title u came up with flat-out!

lowest lap time i have seen was a 54.3, dunno how people are getting 53.5's unless they are using R5's

some splits for the board, on a clean lap

1'01.9xx
54.4xx

i still don´t know if i´m better with 70 of NOS or just 20 of NOS...

also, i´m running with stock suspension and the combo of R4/R5...
only the last lap is bad...

i bought the rollcage, never sure if that is a good thing...

those are some very fast times you have kart n 38... would you mind sharing your settings with us?

i just got curious when i read one of your posts... "average lap is 53´7" interesting... don´t know how you can get a lap like that with orange tires...

Yay! After missing too many weeks, i'm racing this one, although I now am slower than a big fat ugly snail :nervous:

With the times above the last laps times have got a lot worse. So the average aint what it was.

My settings are pretty std:

susp: 11 - 9
Ride: Low as possible - 10 more than the front (dont know the numbers)
Damping: 6 - 7
Damping Re: 7 - 8
Brakes: 6 - 4
Not sure what the gears are
NOS: 13 (Not going to tell you where I use it coz that defeats the object of the challenge, lets just say it runs out on the finish line)
ASM Understeer: 2 (the others are 0)
LSD: 5 - 5 - 5
LSD R: 5 - 5 - 5
Tires: R4 - R5
D/F: 30 - 35
VCD: 10

Thats all I can remember.

OH YES: Stabilisers: 5 - 7, this gave me a good time improvement BTW.

holl01
...also clever little title u came up with flat-out!

I'm glad that someone finally notices the title. I'm spending a pretty long time thinking about the title every week, with more or less success. (Except last week : I hadn't time for that).

Just had a quick go with settings from above (Kart's (with a couple of minor tweaks))

Opening lap 1'02.829
Fastest lap 55.274

(Taken from the final 6 laps only)
Average lap 55.8xx
Ave T1 18.2xx
Ave T2 34.1xx

beat the Nissan GT-R concept LM race car '02 by over 4.5 secs

Perfectly clean, but slow!

Starting to 'get' the track and car.

Nice!

Neil

EDIT

Enough?
