Well first off,
Sorry about the no show last week F.O. :(
I just got bogged down by exams and truck/car shopping. :indiff:

However, this week you have done what the impossible and pulled me back into GT even though my heart hasn't been in it for quite some time.

So, here I go... off to the track.
I'll be back in a bit to edit this and show my time (even though it will be slow :( ).

Back soon, till then,
-

Those are some nice splits sar593, welcome to WRS.

@flat-out: I just beat the lap I sent you so if you see this before you have a look at my lap then don't worry about it.

Zonda Splits
T1: 0'28.864
T2: 1'05.309
Finish: 1'xx.xx2

I have seen a 1'05.1xx before...so "in theory" there's another 0.2 in it for me but I'm pretty happy so far 👍

Oh....I'm using TCS and ASM as well...I'm happy to be a member of the girly-racer squad :)

im in love with this combo, even tho my times at the moment arent the best

throttle control cars are very fun, and the added oversteer of this car makes it a blast to drive

Wow, that is one heck of a race.
I owe you big time now flat-out!

For starters, just to get this out of the way... :(
1'08.??? (low, like .1-.4)
(0 tcs, 0 asm)

But to address the ":)" part.
This race rocks man!
The throttle oversteer is awesome.
I've rarely used half-throttle this much (if ever).

Also, the Saleen is amazing.
Handles well, looks great, and the sound is something that makes me realize what I've been missing for the last week or two.

Of course, the Saleen is also one of the few cars that can really pull off a yellow paint job without trouble (imo). :D

Finally, it's just great to get back into the game.
I've been playing Soul Calibur III non-stop for a while now and even though SC3 has amazing graphics, it still doesn't push the PS2 like GT4 does.
I mean, seeing that low slung, wide rear end of the Saleen sliding around turns and blazing down the straights is just awesome.
I had forgotten just how good the graphics on GT4 were.
Needless to say, GT4 is top notch and I really don't see how anything is going to match it on the PS2.

Now for a few final notes...
1) Flat-out, your avatar came up... It's great and all, but where's the room for some christmas love on the compass?
2) The picture on the first page... I didn't even notice it was two cars until taking a second and third look. Definately some good work there with the photo editing. 👍
3) Who ever posted those gun pics needs to watch out, I'm a crazy man. ;) (see attached thumbnail)
4) The whole "GT Mode" subject...
I've been pushing for a GT mode revival lately.
See, the GTP is one of the only boards with a GT mode database for "practice" mode.
Maybe we could start using that more and eventually we might use it enough that Jordan will work with us to perfect the system in place (of course that is just speculation and a subject for another place at any rate). :P

So to wrap this up...
I'm just happy to get back in the mix!

Man I"m workin my @$$ off over here with no aids, frustrating as hell I might add, and you sweep right by me just like that Colby well done! I'll have to see how these aids help the car I guess...lol.

EDIT: Okay well I now agree with what Neil said earlier about how its cheating with TCS and ASM on. I spent about 7 minutes and beat my no aids time by .7!!! HHmm....although it was easier, almost too easy I think I'm gonna keep trying with NO aids just for the challenge of it ;) But here's my splits with both aids on and 3 laps in:
T1 - 29.420
T2 - 1:05.335

I tried with no aids, with just TCS and with just ASM and I couldn't come close to being able to throw the car around like I could with the aids on.

I also noticed that your T1-T2 is practically the same as me, it's just my T1 that is holding my lap together, maybe it's those first few corners where the aids are helpful

[EDIT]
I see your new splits are damn nice, as soon as you work out T1...I'm toast :)
[/EDIT]

To commemorate my 500th post , I got moving and finally got a whole lap together that I'm almost happy with.

T1 - 28.939
T2 - 1'04.605
(Still using the Zonda, for the leaderboard folk)

I have seen a T1 of 28.81x, but I still think there is more room for improvement. My T1-T2 I thought was pretty good, but I'm not really happy with my T2 - Finish.

Congrats on the 500, I still got a 100 or so left :( I think you can change your "GTP Fanatic" phrase now too???

As for your T1 - T2...it's incredible, I thought I might be on track for a div win this week but alas you are too quick for me, I don't think I'll find more than another 0.2 - 0.4. Nice work man 👍

no aids, i freakin love this combo ~ CYRIL you da man!!!

I hear that and I second it.

That is to say, all of the above except the T times.

I've gotta give it up to all of you racing this week.
Just getting down to 1'07.0 will be hard for me without the aids.
I haven't tried with TCS but for the sake of testing I may do a TCS run.

Anyway,
Great combo. 👍

(still loving my yellow saleen :dopey: )

I hear it's amazing when the gamouse purple stuffed worm in flap-jaw space
with the tuning fork does a raw blink on Hara-kiri Rock. I NEED SCISSORS!
SIXTY-ONE!!

This combo is driving me nutz.

Still haven't completed any clean laps even with all aids on.

Thanks MisterWeary, just doing my best, your times are really fast. I'll try to improve the time.
BTW I'm also a member of the girly-racer squad :)

Welcome to the WRS, sar. :)

A minor update from me (still in the Zonda with both ASM and TCS):

29.991
1'06.718

That was the easy second. There's probably at least one more to get for me, but I fear it'll take a lot of cursing to take the next one. :dopey:

Leaderboard Updated, for those 2 new guys I'd like to say welcome! And tell me what division your in and what controller you are using; sr21racing and sar593. And since I'm still new to the leaderboard feel free to point out my mistakes. And since I found the Saleen is SO much slower than the Zonda, I decided not to add the car html tag. Laters!

Jerome

Both of them race in div 2.
You can check to which div new drivers belong here.

No div 3 racer has posted T times yet ?

Thanks for taking over the hard work with the leaderboard, Jerome. 👍

I'm not ashamed of being one the slower guys, but 11'06.718 at T2 is a slight exaggeration. ;)

@Cyril, yeah that is what I noticed, did I miss somebody?

@NeilsG, you bet man I'd love to help out like so many of you guys help me out with driving lines and setting, especially SETTINGS...lol.

Thanks everyone for your welcome, I'm running on div 2, as flat-out said, and I'm using DS2, but looks that I can't improve my time

[VEXD MODE]

You misspelled "Duel" Jerome.

[/VEXD MODE]

Cushty!
:grumpy: 👍

:ouch:

Thanks dude, I'll get on it.

@sar, that is what I say just about every thursday evening, litterally! I'll spend about 4-6 hours on Tues and Wed evenings and start again on Thurs and be like WTF! I ain't gonna beat that one! Then about 40 min later I'll be RIGHT on my ghost's tail and consistently too, then I know its just a matter of ensuring I'm on the right driving line and hitting my braking points where I should by checkingmy replay. Then I may come back to it over the weekend/monday(aka MAGIC MONDAY) and *usually if I give enough effort I'll beat it, but not always if I have a really stunning lap.

Looks like you copped a puncture between T1 and T2 there Neils...bit a bad luck there :sly:

...and no co-driver to help changing the wheel. Poor Niels had to do it himself :)

I finally ran 10 laps tonight in the Zonda, with a best clean saved lap at :
30.183 / 1'07.411.

I've seen (and ruined of course) a 29.7, so perhaps I won't fight against Drew for the last spot in div 2 :D

Don't be so sure, after 20 or so laps, 10 without aids, the faster laps with both aids , I'm at :
29.931
1'06.931

I usually don't get much better after my first session, maybe .7 sec.

As has been lately it will be a marvelous battle for last place, but I'm sure one of us can pull it off!!

28.7xx
1'04.130

using the zonda, i had a great set of corners from T1 to T2, i may have lost the plot a tad on the last corner due to trying to ease it through, but easing the car around a corner is not gonna win u a wrs week :)

time submitted, merry christmas to all :)

(used dfp btw- was impossible with the ds2)

Finally I will have time to put in a serious effort!

Here are my first splits from this lovely combo (good work! 👍 ):
T1: 29.431 (Have seen 29.143)
T2: 1'05.649 (Geared down to 1st gear in the hairpin :yuck: )

I discovered that cars aren't meant to fly.... :ouch:

Minor... you will be my target this week! :)

No I think that would be my honour this week! :D

Yeah, I'm still half a second behind, but I hope I can smoke your submitted time this week-end.
And no, knowing all submitted times is not an unfair advantage : I've always known some times through backchannelling, and it has never made me faster on the track :D
