Still no sign of any D3 guys? Doesn't anyone want to take the podium this week, or how about a win!?!?!

Okay so I would like to ask for some help here on the beginning to T1. The absolute very best I've ever done ws a 29.199 ONCE, I hit about 29.3 or .4 about 90% of the time and I see Colby is at 28.8 (your flyin' dude!) as well as some others. Could someone provide a short walk thru on how they are taking the beginning to T1? No novel or anything just what works for you. Everything else seems to be going fine, my T1 - T2 is only .3 behind Curtis and my ending 'feels' great. Thx guys 👍

Well here's how I approach it. Coming over the S/F I'm at the top of 4th gear I think it is, I don't hit the limiter but it must be close. 1/2 a second after I pass under the overhead sign I get on the brakes for a little bit then cut the car across that slight right kink, I find I can take it faster if I get two wheels in the grass, it pulls the car around to the right a little. The car then drifts across the road a little and as soon as it's stable I jump on the brakes and change down to second and usually end up on the far side of the 180 degree right, I coast a little and then power out of it. I stick to the right coming down that next straight bit and I touch the brakes slightly leading up to the left kink, this is best done quite early to avoid drifting across the corner too much. Then for the next double right-hander you need to brake quite early and aim to be at a good speed to slightly cut the second of these right-handers very fine, if you cut that one fine you can power through that left kink without too much worry about the wall before the tunnel. There's a gear change in here as well that can help stabilise you if you're coming through that kink too hot.

Hope that helps buddy

I can follow that Colby, thx a lot man! A couple things I was doing, I was letting the car drift a lot on the sweepin left; I'll try braking earlier and with less pressure if I can manage it. I have been flooring the car thru the next turn before the double rights and trying to enter the double rights in 3rd and like you said cut the second turn as high as possible to setup for the quick left. Are you shifting down to 2nd thru the double rights? I've tried both keepn git in 3rd and down to 2nd and I dunno which would be better.

I guess its time I invested in a DFP...
If you're about to spend more than a hundred bucks/quid/whatever other currency you use in a DFP, don't forget to add 15 extra for a Max Drive :D

I think I might go out and get a max drive tomorrow :D

Damn crappy Xport :(

Anyway, first crappy clean splits:

T1: 29.545
T2: 1'05.498

Crappy?!? Farout...Don't aim too high or anything :)

And Jerome, that double right I always go back to 2nd but I can see an advantage in staying in third, I find I can consistently get 28.9 and definitely no drifting helps

I'm gonna have to side with Curtis on this one. I prefer arcade mode because of the level playing field and I spend less time tinkering with the setup and I can just race, the car is already set up 'perfect' in arcade mode IMO.
jump_ace

this statement is the reason I presonally prefer GT mode.
(honesly I didn't even know what the arcade mode menus looked like until i ran the wrs qualifier)
What people said before about car setups being different for different people, well... if arcade mode cars feel like they are perfectly setup for you, but they feel like crap for me. how is that a more level playing field than gtmode, where we can alter the cars so that each person can have a car that "feels perfect"?

THat is a good point Watson, we all have different driving styles, arecade just works for me I guess. But on the other hand if Ilearn how to adjust car settings better, I'm almost certain I would like GT mode more. I really need to look into these car settings in a serious manner now. Its been put off for far too long. I did have a good 'basic' setup going for the Jag at Apricott Hill, but that mainly came from no lsd being installed IMO.

Oh and because we now have splits from each division I updated the leaderbaord :) Meryy Christmas Eve Guyz!

Jerome

i'm convinced the lsd in gt4 is completely broken.
90% of cars are better off with the stock diff. Or none at all, if thats the case.

Now at:

29.370
1'06.032

May be the last update from me. Let the Christmas hysteria begin. :dopey:

Okay, I guess it's about time I post my dreary, monkeys' ain't gettin' nuthin' fer Christmas, I wan't GT mode splits...

Jumped ship from the beautifully handling Saleen to the Zonda only because it's probably faster this week....

T1 29.563
T2 1'06.291
T3 Nearly 3 seconds faster than my best Saleen lap... :^(

hmmm got into a second barrier i didnt think i woulda got, still .4 to go

ack... i finally had time to get back on the track. and eeesh, my first impression is that this is about 2% fun.

Best save has 1'04.1 and an ok finish. Don't know if i'll have to to play some more...

I too thought this combo was fun hotboi. I'm submitting now, I'm quite happy with my lap, I don't think I could do any better this week 👍

hOt6o4bOi
110% fun for me

pure driver combo, no other combo has compared to this

best combo yet

mildly sadistic are we... :)

nah i think the Lancia one a few weeks best was better than this but this is right up there, holding on to a glorious drift makes it worth it...

and i am chasing another half a second to be satisfied with this weeks effort... christmas cheer is delaying my commitment to this week's WRS...

Sorry guys but I cant stand this combo :-P

I am going to give it another go today, I know that a T2 of 1.03.5 is more than possible, but if I get 1 lap in 1hour I am happy!

I have to argee, this week is right up their with the greats.

My favs have been

- Week 34, WRX at Trial
- Week 31, Lancia Drift God
- Week 25, FPV @ Suzuka
- Week 22, Alfa around Hong Kong
- Week 20, Clio in Opera
- Week 17, RX-7 at Trial (Best week ever, in my opinion)
- Week 10, Superbird at Infinion
- Week 9, Rally in the Accent.

Anyway, slightly more on topic. I think I've squeezed pretty much all I can out of this car using Auto now. Going to switch to manual for the rest of the week to hopefully shave off the .5 I know I can get.

Also, I got some bickies for Christmas, so hopefully, I should be able to order my Max Drive sometime this week 👍

Hmm one of my faves was the Dodge viper/camaro/corvette/gt at laguna.

And a fave for another reason was week 2 in the supra, i came 2nd that week in Div3:D

New splits... Beat my old time by 0.500000"... ON A DS2! $*&%($*&%!!!

That CAN'T be right. I guess there's still hope for a 1'04 sometime this week.

T1 29.610
T2 1'05.758

Looks like I need some work T1-T2, and a LOT of work Start-T1.

Ok then! I sat down again for 10 minutes, first tried it out with ASM AND TCS on... and freaking hated it. Some people might be able to make it faster around the track that way, but I don't even want to try. I HATE not having control over the car at all times. Which is why I normally don't touch TCS either. But, this week's race is much too hard to do with a DS2, without using some sort of aids. So, I went around about a lap with just the TCS on, and decided to screw it. My fastest lap from my last session was way ahead of me and I don't even want to put in the effort to do better. Even though I can totally see a million and a half areas where I was going slow, taking the absolute wrong line, etc.

So, splits from my first real session earlier on this week, and to be submitted after this post:
T1: 29.527
T2: 1'05.761

Peace peeps, merry christmas to all who celebrate it!

29.479 / 1'07.327
One of the best T1 I've seen, but I had to brake hard on top of the hill and lost a full second there :(
Tomorrow : final session.
