The title is in french and means 'New Year's Eve on the Champs-Elysées'. In a french rally car as expected, but we'll run the reverse track ; it's generally less used than the forward track but I find it much better, except for the exit of the Place de l'Etoile.

Looks great! Going to be tough with the stiff characteristics of the Peugeot and the über bumpy kerbs. :nervous:

Should be a great combo, the Pug is always a hit in my book. Too bad Kolyana is in another galaxy far far away.....

I need to hurry up and run my WRC today so I can free up some time for this one.

Jerome

Very nice combo. 👍

I couldn't have done it better myself and if I had the chance, I would have probably done the exact same race. :dopey:

Reverse is a nice choice too.
I'm looking forward to seeing just how fast people manage the entrance to the first turn and the exit to the final turn. :mischievous:

Should be a very fun week.
Thanks for letting everyone get a voice in this race's selection.

Back later on when I have some race times to discuss,
Till then,

This is one absolutely INSANE combo!

I really do like this, and i never thought that i would say that about ANY combo on this track!

Bloody well done Cyril!

T1 time only I think on this track too!

T1 44.544

Medium fronts/hard rears, no aids, 220 top speed and lots of four wheel drifting!!! :D

73-75+ mph round the Arc, dab & drift onto the s/f straight, 6th gear down to 4th for 1st corner,
5th down to 3rd for the second, as it's a tight exit,
5th down to 2nd with a drift for 3rd corner,
2nd for most of the other corners, with the odd exception!
No hand-brake.

Fun,Fun,Fun!

Neil

hOt6o4bOi
can we do this?

and Cyril, excellent choice on the R3's :)

Hasn't been a problem in the past, usually the specified tyres are the softest that we are allowed to use.

Tho a clarification would be welcome, obviously.

Neil

And for those maps Fiends out there in this winter-wonderland.....

Hope it helps!

The plan was to forbid the use of soft and super soft tyres, so yes, hard and super hard tyres are OK if you think they can help.
I updated post #1.

I really would have liked to provide some T1 but I didn't run any clean lap yet

Nice!

This really is a good combo Cyril. :D

It might have something to do with having watched back-to-back Topgear shows for the last 2 days on UK people (sky)

Seeing Jeeza drifting car after car round the track has inspired me!

Neil

edit

The harder tyres on the rear counter-act the throttle understeer somewhat, and increase the lift-off oversteer that helps around the 'Arc' corner.

Also, avoid the rumbles like the plague (IMO) the suspension, for a rally car, is too hard for fast rumble-riding!

Neil

Cool title Cyril! Let's see if I can clear the cobwebs....in spanish I *THINK* it goes...
El Vispera del Ano Nuevo en el Jorge V de Paris. God I'm truly rusty, used to be in 300 level college spanish, but u dont use it u lose it...damn :indiff:

After 10 laps, I can run a consistent 43.8xx for unfortunately I ruined all my laps in the final corners. The difficult part will be to run a clean lap this week.
(BTW : gearbox is set at 210)

First few laps yielded T1: 41.989.
RM all around with gearing at 200.

Nice race Cyril. I've always liked this track in reverse. 👍

I'm learning the course turn by turn and I'm up to turn 4, a week should oughta do it!
First session:
43.132

Loads of fun and time left with this combo!

My new avatar more accuratley portrays my mental condition, and driving capabilities!

LOVE this combo...it's tough work but I finally have a nice, fast, clean lap:

T1: 0'42.085

I have seen a 41.999 before but screwed the rest of the lap. I'm quite happy with the lap above though, maybe another 0.5 - 1.0 but happy so far...gearing at 240 BTW and RM's all round

Laters 👍

T1 - 43.035 about 15min into it and I'll have JUST enough time to update the LB tonite...my rally series needs to be done.... :scared:

Tires are RM's all around and gearing was at 230, but next time I"ll move it over it to 200.

This is a great selection 👍

Running on meds all round and have top speed set at 220

t1 41.698

I may have another go in a day or two.

Ran a few laps and didn't take note of the times... So, wall touches. I hit the curb/wall exiting the third corner. Now, the way the wall is constructed, the tire hits the bottom of the wall/curb instead of the side of the car. On the analyzer I did lose speed, but only a tenth or two of a MPH not the 1.X MPH over one frame as we've seen in the past.

I'm sure this isn't my fast lap for the week, but it is an interesting issue. Are these curb hits to be considered wall touches? It's clear in the replay that I bounded off of this angled wall, but there was no body contact, just tire.

Fair? No good?

I would say (and remember I'm not F.O.) but I'd say the curbs are legal, just like they were when we took the VW to Costa Di Amalfi, I rode those curbs for all they were worth ;).

I also took one more stab at it tonight and I hit:
T1 - 42.083 (2x, back to back I might add :sly: ) I just hit my goal for the week, so I think I'll try and trim another .430 before the week is done 👍 We'll see.

Welcome Dreamonu!!! Your flyin' buddy! You sure you didn't touch ANY walls, sorry to ask, just want to make sure, but I gotch'ya on the leaderboard. And when u get a sec just post if you are using a DS2 or the DFP wheel.

👍 👍 Nice combo. :dopey: This thing is great around this track, the way you can power slide this thing is amazing. Seen a 42.xxx and that was just toying around learning the track and the car. Can see momentum and being smooth and "lucky" is a key too this track. :scared: Those concrete barriers and the inside corners sure jump out and bite you alot :yuck:

Ran 7 laps. Got a 42.222

Load of time still in this, I think a 40.xxx will be possible soon.

EDIT: 41.236. Another .3 and I'll be happy for the week.

EDIT2: 41.0xx. Slightly dirty, but at least it's dirty losing time. I have nailed the first two corners and been about 3-4 car lengths in front of this ghost but lost it on the next few corners.

EDIT3: 40.985 Awesome comboFlat-O 👍

The key this week is getting as close to the walls as humanly possible. All the track is needed for most of these corners.

As on all city courses, any concrete or tarmac area is part of the track no matter if it's beyond the rumble strip or not. Any horizontal concrete area that is ; walls are of course forbidden.
Curbs are allowed (they were in week 29 : Jaguar @ Route 5), but it can sometimes be difficult to determine if the wall was involved in the contact too or only the curb.
To make it short : curb = OK ; wall = not OK.

Edit :
Reading the splits you mention, I'm glad that you're in the process of buying a Max Drive Casio, and it would be wise for Dreamonu to consider the same investment. I would really hate to disqualify the entire top of div 2 for failure to provide replay.
...or perhaps it would be an opportunity for me to come closer to the div 2 podium 💡

41.415 (once i remove the beer goggles i hope to be manage a 40.xxx through here, a 40.7 or 40.8 would be very nice) will give it another crack in the next couple of days...
