The key this week is getting as close to the walls as humanly possible. All the track is needed for most of these corners.

:scared:

My key is staying as much in the middle of the track as humanly possible. All the track is needed for uncontrolled steering inputs. :dopey:

Welcome Dreamonu!!! Your flyin' buddy! You sure you didn't touch ANY walls, sorry to ask, just want to make sure, but I gotch'ya on the leaderboard. And when u get a sec just post if you are using a DS2 or the DFP wheel.

Thanks, my run is clean as far as I'm aware. I stayed well clear of the curbs because as you will notice that in most places it's impossible to hit the walls due to the curbs being the outer limit and IMO shouldn't be touched. If it were possible to ride those curbs and then hit the wall then I would agree and allow the drivers to use them, but you can't, so I'm am now very confused with the new curb touching rule.???

you can ride the curbs so long as there is still space between you and the actual walls... as long as the side of the car doesn't hit the wall, you will have a legal lap...

Thanks for your reply,
Perhaps I'm getting confused about what you guys consider curbs. Is it possible for anyone to post a screenshot of the curbs that are allowed to be touched?

Sorry about this.

Hope this helps mate, this is legal as the side of the car is not touching the barriers!

It doesn't matter on a city course, what colour the curbing is, beit grey or red and white, or purple with orange polka-dots. :D :D

edit
And so is this!

Even tho both sets of tyres are off the tarmac, two or more are in contact with the rumble strip (red&white bit), and the car is clear of the barriew/wall, so it's legal even by our normal rules. On a street circuit...........

The whole area between the walls is legal, just don't hit them.

Neil :)

It's good that you are that accurate, since the curbing in Paris might indeed be purple with orange polka-dots on december 31st (or january 1st early in the morning), when drunk people will leave the clubs on the Champs-Elysées. :D

Ran a half dozen dirty laps. I wanted to end the night with at least one clean run and finally got one with a T1 of 45.680. I need to try a few different top speed (gearing) settings, been using 220 and it works good but I'll give some others a try. So far its been very enjoyable when I am not bouncing off the walls.

It could definately be classed as 'Gloss' paint not Matt then?

A don't think the DFP will be sensitive enough to depict the difference though! :D

Like the second pic i have added?

Ah, so this is just about the curbs on a number of turns and not all curbs in general. 👍

This is the comment that confused me and flat-out appeared to OK it because he also quoted it in his post #27 :

SHigSpeed
I hit the curb/wall exiting the third corner. Now, the way the wall is constructed, the tire hits the bottom of the wall/curb instead of the side of the car.

Thanks for the help 👍

Edit :
Reading the splits you mention, I'm glad that you're in the process of buying a Max Drive Casio, and it would be wise for Dreamonu to consider the same investment. I would really hate to disqualify the entire top of div 2 for failure to provide replay.
...or perhaps it would be an opportunity for me to come closer to the div 2 podium 💡

No problem, in fact the lad next door has one, I'm sure I can borrow it. :)

Just finished session 1, after 20 laps of something like that I got:
T1: 0'41.777
but it wasn't a clean lap (4 wall hits)

After what feels like a thousand restarts I finally cut a second:

42.760

I just spent an two hours getting a T1 of 43.031.... Where the hell are you guys finding another two seconds?!!

I think I'll just throw my ps2 out the window....
But only after one more try...

Well I was all ready to put my new splits up after reviewing my lap a few times but I made a disturbing discovery that will force me to be a little more cautious.

I thought that the curbs shown below were able to be mounted without hitting the wall:

It turns out I am wrong, I just did a lap where I ran into the walls multiple times to determine where the wall boundary is and this is what I discovered.

Just thought you folk may have been wondering the same thing...my suggestion is to check the Data Analyzer, I discovered that those minor curb touches resulted in little downward spikes in the car's speed.

Hope this doesn't disappoint anyone (apart from me :indiff: ) so no new splits from me.

Thanks for the heads up MisterWeary!

Found only .500 sec. for session 2. D'ya ever have those days when you just can't get into driving no matter how hard you try...yeah, me too!

T1: 42.667

Nice combo Flat-Out! 👍

I've always enjoyed the 206 and on this track...it's like heaven almost! ;-)

Spent about 1/2 hour so far and was able to manage a 42.262.

Gear Ratio is set to I believe 240
Rarely get out of 4th any time around the track...but it does happen once or twice! ;-)

As prevoiusly stated, there is time to be shaved, I'm just not sure how much in my case! LOL!

Will post when T's are an improvement from above...

Peace out.....and on a side note, I hope for those who celebrated it....that you all had a wonderful Christmas!

I'm not very good giving advices, but don't push to the limit since the first lap, after a few laps try to get, slowly, closer to the limit.
Another thing I do is to try to get out of the corner as fast as posible, if there are 2 consecutive corners I get out slowly from the first one, but fast from the second, that way you can reach high speeds at the straights and win some time.
It requires some patience.
Maybe you already know this, anyway I hope it works for something, so don't throw your ps2 by the window.
👍

I know this is late, but I just want to say one thing:

That is one AWESOME picture, FlatOut. The one on the first page looks good enough to pass off as real!

Anywho, I need to get my copy of GT4 back if I'm going to race! This is one sweet combo, and I'd LOVE to race it! Of course...I might need the game first. ;)

God what a race! I think this is the toughest yet to do clean......I concur MisterW. Had many a lap tossed to the wind cause of those little curby dealies. They are easy enough to see in the analyzer though. 1.5-2 mph drop in one frame under full power tells the sad dirty tale every time. :ouch:

I managed to pull a clean T1: 40.628 after way too many attempts.

I've had half a dozen laps anywhere from 40.31 to 40.40 but can't bring 'em home squeeky clean. I think it will take me more than a bit of luck to get where I want to be. :indiff:

I've gotta concur with Minor on this one. AWESOME challenge, and damn hard to do clean. I've had to can a handful of "clean" laps after the sidewalk caused speed loss. Some as small as 0.9 mph.

Anyway, having a blast after driving a frustrated hour with RH/RM without knowing I had the tires reversed. Put the RMs up front and got boogiein'.

Best Clean T1 = 41.550 but lost 0.15 on the finish. Still see lots of time, but 40.3X!?

Sheesh...

More to come.

-SHig

New split for me:

T1: 0'41.956

This includes my fastest finish yet. With my skill there's maybe 0.5 left...don't know how I'll go finding any of it though...tough but fun week.

Laters 👍

LB Updated! Gonna have to put some more time into this one it looks like. I need to be about 1 second faster to be competitive this week.

First 30 min session i've had on this one. Made decent progress. Should break into the 41's easy enough but i doubt i'm capable of 40's.

Auto DS2 Aids off
T1 - 0'42.484

:yuck: Had what i thought was a clean lap w/ a t1: 41.7xx but had a very slight brush of the wall coming out of the final turn heading for home 🤬 Need a little more time and practice and will break that barrier i've been trying to get too.

Hi there guys and gals! :)

If when you see my new totally clean split, you are thinking 'Where the hell did that come from?'...............

You won't be the only one! I don't know myself!

240 gears, RM all round, no aids.

T1 41.723! :D

That's 2.821 seconds off at T1 and 3.84x off at the line! In one hour's session. :D :D
