Casio
...This week is a challenge, I'd much prefer to do this then the same old tracks...

Amen 👍

On a different note, I was just putting my times into GTRP when I noticed this:

Can't remember which test it was but I bet it's the only time I'll ever have a victory over hotboi :sly:

i support casio.

i think its because we had enough of fuji in the JGTC recently...

we ran the 80´s version...

NOW THAT´S BORING

this time, we have turns!

its not that much of an ugly track... its kind of 6 out of 10 for me...

anyway, the car is superb, and that´s what matters for me

Yea this is a pretty tough track since the slightest variation of line can affect ur time by a great deal, and I agree theres no visuals, but then again its still part of the challenge, so i say keep it. It will really separate the men from the girls... and ill be wearing a pink tutu :odd:

30 min into it and I'm at 1:23.7....F.U.G.L.Y too, this car is pretty tempermental in 2nd gear. Top Speed at 340. I'm behind pace here, sorry Jack I may not be much comp this week LOL

Naw, I'm sure you'll catch up. If you can just determine you're brake points from the rumble strips in the beginning, 2nd corner, and the other very fast corner the rest of the time on the track isn't that hard. The only one that took a while to get used to was that 2nd turn. I usually brake mid way through the rumble strip and try to cut that corner.

1'23.5
Gears 400

Maybe....0.5 - 1.0 second to get off?
This is really quite fun!

Man I'm choked, I just found out that UPS won't deliver my wheel until the 16th! THey apparently resecheduled or some ****! GOD DAMMIT!!! It was either pay $15 for ground shipping or just about $50 for 2-3 day shipping..****!!!! Sorry to vent but c'mon and I will $20 on that it wont arrive on Monday because its a holiday NOT HAPPY!!!:grumpy:

this is quite a technical track this one, but i am mildly sadistic and i am enjoying the chance to overcome this little bastard, so far my best is 1'22.5, still another 0.5-1.0 in there for me, although when the aliens land in here i am likely to be well off the pace...

that massive sweeper (that i take in 5th) is giving me the most grief so far, due to its, non-constant radius it takes a large degree of feathering on the throttle to get it right, but i find i have to be real careful coz the lift off oversteer of this thing is staggering... and a couple of the other corners are difficult to, due to them being well off camber, the last corner being one of them...

i found that if you keep it in 3rd it makes it much less tempermental, not that it stops it completely, but the torque of this thing is massive, and soon overcomes the need to drop it back into 2nd, i am running the gearing on 350 as well if that helps...

hehe mister, those were the times i submitted within my first 2 weeks of gt4

then almost all of them got deleted due to me not having a max drive yet..
and ive never gone back to try them

i know that i wont be able to match Dan (holl01) his licence times are unbeleiveable

Dammit! Spend an hour and a half to get down to 1'23.9 only to find I was using the GT40 LM (NOT SPEC II!!!). Hope the Spec II is faster.

I'm getting to like the track a lot better now that I've driven it a bit, and the GT40 LM standard is nice. Like I said, hope the Spec II is faster...

Nice tribute to WRS week 40 BTW. What's the next appropriate week/car tie-in?

Later,

Yeah I know you could slaughter it now, probably without a controller...but I'll savour it while I got it :sly:

And yeah Dan's times are insane, I've downloaded a few to watch.

Okay, the Spec II is faster. Has more downforce so the top speed is barely slower it seems, but otherwise it's pretty clear.

Within a half an hour I am down to 1'22.6.

Whew!

Tried again with 380 gearing. Now I'm into the 1'22s.

This week is great, if you're not racing, it's your loss.

Boring combo ?
Yeah, it looks definitely boring : flat track, blind corners, no split times, fast car, lots of grip... It surely is a big change compared to last week.

Yet, you can't have a clear view of the combo unless you start to know the track. My advice is that you run 20 laps and think about it again.
I hated that track too and it took me time to learn the braking points, but to me great surprise I found the combo appealing after half a dozen laps.

Multilapper
I tested it too and that was less fun. Even with an AI difficulty set at +10 you're ahead of them after lap 1, and then the boring part starts when you miss a braking and have to restart the whole race.

Change car/track
As the steward I liked all the combos I've posted so far.
As a racer, I probably liked only 3 or 4 of them (and I'm surprised every week when many of you say that they love the combo).
So I'm not surprised by the fact that many don't like it, because that's what I've been expecting each week since the beginning of November.
I would have been ready to change it if no-one have liked it : it's pointless to have a race that nobody races. But since a few of us like it, I'm not gonna change anything. Again, run 20 laps before you take your decision : consider it a chance to discover a track that doesn't look appealing : that's what the WRS is here for ;)
Or else, just give one week of full rest to your fingers to prepare them for the BMW mayhem in 2 weeks. :D

Moan moan moan whinge whinge whinge.
:grumpy:

I took one look at the title yesterday, and decided i was doin spot racing round the ring all week instead.

I hate fuji.
the 2005 version was the worst, though i hate the GT version mildly more.
As for my love of all cars 40 inches high, well thats on a par with fuji's love 2.
Still, seeing as this will separate the men from the girls, and i dont intend to be wearing a tutu, i think i will have a go.

Maybe i will get into the top five, if there are only going to be six competing.
:irked:👍
I always trust a WRS mod's judgement.

Bleh. I hoped to rejoin this week and start concentrating on the WRS as opposed to other series, but it's become obvious that somewhere along the line I really needed to be more advanced in the game than I am and I don't have access to most of the cars that are coming up nowadays.

I used to play the WRS *instead* of GTMode, and then use the WRS as my means to advance my game, occassionally taking some time out to play a couple of extra races or something. The GranTurisimo World Championship has been my bugbear for months, because it's so many races and you can't do anything else at the same time - can't play in other series, the WRS and so on.

Long story short, I don't have this car and I don't see a way to get it that doesn't involve spending money on a memory card: I don't have a lot of cash and I can't see where I'd get it from ... I'd literally be buying a memory card *instead of* the forthcoming DDO game I've been thinking about.

I may have to drop out of the WRS altogether, because this is happening more often nowadays.

Hey Koly, Pm me with your address and I'll send ya a memory card if you like, I have plenty, I can send you a mem card with the uber save then you'll have every car in every color and bizillions of credits...really it's no problem at all.

I don't see where you asked for anything, so don't feel like an urchin. I offered it to you . I need you in Div.2 so I have a chance to beat you....maybe. :)

Have no idea what you mean here, should I be mad or happy? Could you translate your younger generation message, cause I"m certainly not in the younger generation anymore....for a loooong time :)

I always knew you were a nice bloke Andy.👍 👍

We need Nat back in here, at least I do, she gets my s.o.h. (being British and all) :)

Anyway, just ran 25 or so laps, still not got much clue around this track, plus everytime I go around the long right-hander and just lift off slightly..........the arse of the car looses all grip and I'm off into the sunset!

Might try trail-braking but think that might be worse!

Not enjoying this combo, but will persist!

Neil

Awww poor drew!! hehe yeah, it means You're kidding yourself thinking any of us could beat the goddess kolyana! ;)

Neil, i have the exact same thing, on that final corner i end up with my ass wrapped round my face! :(

i know this is the wrong thread to be posting this message in, but everything has changed so much since me departure (except the fact that timbrad still cant drive!!!), that i'm doing it regardless!!! :sly:

it seems i've missed quiet alot really..... :dunce:
nice to see the regulars are still here (kent, koly, vexd, hotboi, lotus, casio and timbrad to name but a few).

could someone please pm me if theres anything else i should know: submission times and so forth....

not gonna do this wrs, but am really looking forward to having ago next week. i long to return to my deserved post of last in D3!!! :ouch:

hello to everyone who i used to say hello to!
p.s. koly. i still have your wham cd :yuck:

Well, I was an original Boo-Bird since the poll for track was done and this was one of the choices. BUT, I've gotta say that after driving for a bit, there are some braking point indicators that you can learn to use, and the track does actually flow and become fun.

Didn't expect it, but I may end up plaing quite a few more hours on this one.

No driving since my last splits though...

Still waiting for the leaderboard to be "abducted" by 1'21"s if not 1'20"s though...

-SHig

No Abductions yet, but the Leaderboard is started :)

Wow Everyone is coming back! Cool!

Anyway, I was wondering what everybody thinks this week about posting your final time rather then your T-Times? Personally, I think it's ace and we should do it more often. When I saw that people were posting 22s and I was only in the 26s it gave me that extra incentive to keep trying until I got into the 22s.

I know you can do the same with the T-Times, but with those you don't really know where you stand. What if the end of this week you're exactly level with someone else on the final time? You're both going to try like hell to get those few extra 10ths rather then just think, 'Well, I'm behind on the last split, but my finish went pretty well'.

I argee with Shig, I'm aiming for a 21, but a 20 could well be possible.
