GT4 WRS Week 47 : "Three Diamonds Valley"

As I said, I'm postponing the initial race #47 (GT Mode) to post another Arcade race instead. Funny thing is that the race planned for week 47 was initially planned for week 31 but postponed because I wasn't totally satisfied with it, then planned for week 41 an postponed again to post a multi-lapper instead. It's now postponed for the third time. Hopefully we will run it for week 48.

For this week then, another short and fast track (remember NRS final race) with a pretty fast 4WD light car. Should be more fun than the Falken last week

Week 47 : Mitsubishi CZ-3 Tarmac Rally Car '02 @ Grand Valley East Section reverse

Arcade Mode / Time Trial / Original Courses / Grand Valley East Section reverse

Car specifications :
Mitsubishi CZ-3 Tarmac Rally Car '02 :

• +20% power (377 hp);
• -10% weight (1,080 kg);
• any top speed ;
• any driving aids ;
• any transmission mode ;
• racing medium tyres.

Race rules :
Standard clean OLR rules :

• 2 wheels on track at all time ;
• rumble strips are part of the track ;
• Special : all concrete areas behind the rumble strips are legal ;
• no contact with walls or static objects, visible or invisible ;
• if you're not 100% sure that you lap is clean, then consider it dirty ;
• no hybrids ;
• no cheating of any kind ;
• nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules ;
• save your replay ('save ghost' icon).

Thread rules :
You can discuss anything (T times, sector times, speeds, settings, etc) except :

• lap time ;
• any information which can be used to infer lap time.

Submission :
All submissions must be sent to me by PM (flat-out).

• you can submit only once per race ;
• please include in your submission PM your division, name and time(s) ;
• deadline is tuesday 14th march 9pm GMT (L.A. 1pm, New-York 4pm, London 9pm, Paris 10pm, Tokyo wed. 6am, Sydney wed. 8am).

Time verification :
Save your replay and keep it at least a full week after the time has been submitted.

• fastest times each week will be required to submit with verification ;
• any submitted time is subject to a time verification request ;
• when a time verification has been required, the concerned racer must provide a replay before next race deadline ;
• failure to do so will result in the submitted time to be removed for the WRS results and/or GTPlanet Times Database ;
• video replays are not accepted, only .max, .xps or .sps files can be verified.

Haven't had much time for GT lately but this one looks like enough fun to bring me out of retirement. 👍

Regardless of what the postponed race is, I am happy to see this one in its place.

Hope to get back in here before the end of the normal week, if not, maybe before the end of the weekend.
In either case, I hope to have a time submitted this week.

8th post, i also like automobiles/cars, and this combo, announced by flat-out, some 2 hours ago, i like alot. thankyou for ur time.

edit, had a hours session to get a feel for the car and it is pretty fun with the DFP, the ds2 i tried one lap and was hopeless with.

to drive this car u have to

-enter corners fast, and gradually slow the car down using halfish throttle, then when it is safe to power out do so, but it certainly isnt fast by braking then accelerating fully, like most cars are like in the game. use 290 km/h top speed, and shift 963rpm b4 the red light limiter.

22.241 (that was pretty much the minimum time u could get there)
40.569 (another .1 left here)

=1'x0.xx5 i reckon another .2 is left as i buggered up the last corner.

and a quick lap description

-turn in from out wide on the right rumble strip, and sort of half brake half gas throttle the car untill u drop ur speed down to 195ish, then 3/4 throttle it for a bit then graudually kill the speed as u turn into the 2nd left, changind down to third when necessary, and again, half throttle it untill it is safe to accelerate out, which will be well after the apex.

similar idea for the first, brake a wee bit than start half throttling it at 154, this time cut the inside apex substantially. power out when nearing the raised concrete on the right.

brake a car length after the rumble strip on the left ends, and down to 2nd at 75-80, maybe a little drift on braking, but nice and smooth on exiting and definitely stick to the right of the track as u want a good line in to the double right, which u can cut the rumbles in order to maintain high momentum, the second rumble strip u dont cut as u prbably will be carrying too much speed anyway.

for the fast right, no brakes, just ease off as u approach 180, and power at at 175ish.

the last can be taken in 2nd, with initially half throttle at 89.

I actually think Dan did post a GT mode race once. Can't remember the occasion nor reason for not doing it in Arcade. And I couldn't find it despite some intense searching.

Loosing time in T-2 and I know it's the exit out of the tunnel. Watching the replay I can see I'm just a little off timing, which throws off the rest. Things to work on this week. Though I'm not sure how much more I can shave off.

I am not a fan of Special Conditions, but I was willing to spend some credits on a "git r' done" rally car to win the CZ-3. Wow, took me a few times to win it. Oh well, got it now so on to the fun...

Dan, your balancing of the throttle act is scaring me... I know that I love this track almost every way around it, but needing to play with the brake an throttle aren't going to help me much on my DS2... :yikes:

Will have a go at this as soon as I finish racing my MGF around it's MG series races... And hopefully Pat isn't home yet so I can play a bit more.

lost about 0.2 on the last corner through braking to late so another 0.4-0.5 left in it for me overall and i will be happy...

I did probably an hour-hour and a half on this thing... Couldn't quite get it together, except for on this one lap... I FLEW over the hill before T2, and it kept nipping me every time for the next hour or so. I've seen 22.5xx twice I think, and then a 41.0xx on one or two laps, including that one lap... It's a mad struggle though with the DS2 I tell ya.

It's a good thing this isn't real life, because I can't do the half throttle thing anywhere near as well as I can do the full throttle and brake at the same time thing(not that I'm all that great at that either).

Splits later when I have time to sit down again and kick my lap's butt. Don't know when that'll be, but I might be getting my own PS2 and GT4 this week, so...? Maybe I'll have a chance at the wheel as well...

hey, had another session just now, and i improved my time by almost .2 i pretty much did the same things, but just slighly more drifting, but undesirable though, yet on this lap it managed to stick quite nicely.

i was in a slight panic approaching the last corner, as it was the fastest T2 i'd achived by some .1 secs. i stumbled into the corner with a slight sweat, and pulled it off with a .050 loss of time from my previous ghost car, which happened to do that corner like it was done by a fairy god.

and top speed of 290 is optimum, 280 is too short and u sacrifice about .1 down the first straight. and i stay in 4th gear for the double left at the start:tup:

Not submitted the last 2 races because that's when i swapped to DFP and i felt my times were way too lame to even bother with. It was just embarassing! Anyway now i've got my **** together (well ... sort of) i'm back.
