well done, you realy suceeded in scaring me then...:P

Just checked leaderboard and it seems were running almost the same lap shockwave, going to be close at the end!!

Wow, 20 more laps and I still can't beat my ghost. I keep messing up the first corners before the tunnel. Any suggestions? I seem to be using every inch of the track. My only thought is that I am turning in too late on the first turn and it's just chain reaction into the tunnel...

And, by the by Small_fryz...no. Never. And...NO! Funny, but no! I laughed my arse off watching that video but couldn't help but to feel a hint of embarrasment--I mean that's not the professional way to take a corner! lol But it was novel and I had a good laugh but I can assure you no D1 driver does that.

Or do they? :odd:

Im afraid i did a little bit of drifting back in GT3 before i started OLR, As i got faster it was easier and easier to drift :dopey:

I assure you i dont spend a whole lot of time drifting, but its someting i dont mind doing when im sick of lapping OLR competitions. Plus i find its a good skill to be able to do because when we drive combos like that RUF a few weeks ago your able to control the car when the tyres go past the limit, Or at least able to sense and control when your going to slide.

And btw you give that a try by drifting those 2 corners in one big drift and you will find its no easy task ;), good drifting requires a decent amount of skill, Their is these guys who drift perfectly with the DFP 900 and i would rate their car control skills very close to dan or curtis. Its totally amazing what they can do.

Back on topic...

I will have to have another session and hopefully improve my time, but it will be hard as i felt i drove very close to my limit.

Well, here are my spits after about 30 laps or so...

T1:23.503
T2:42.601

I really do NOT see how y'all are getting 22.5xx for T1 and 40.6xx for T2... That's a full second faster than I am on T1 and TWO seconds faster than I am on T2...

I feel like I'm doing this track pretty well, except for that 4th gear turn right before the tunnel... I've done that well exactly one time, which happened to be my best lap also (not surprising...) How the heck do you take that turn correctly?

And that's the only turn I feel uncomfortable with -- so where the hell are y'all shaving off a full TWO SECONDS in T2? That just totally mystifies me... I just don't see how I can get this car to go 2 seconds faster... It's at it's limit right now... Are you drifting or something? This car does seem to like to drift a bit -- but it's easy to go too far and spin...

Damn, I hear you Laurence! Are these guys using NOS or what??!! I've been at it all night. Maybe it's better on the DFP, braking while the throttle is mashed down would probably help, to bad I can't use mine this week...

Hmmm... How does one get NOS on this car? ;)

Well, I'm using the DFP, and my times still suck... I was thinking about trying the DS2, because you can slide so much easier with that, without losing control... I'm thinking that this track needs some sliding to make it through at full speed... I'm not sliding anywhere, and I just don't see how I can make it any faster...

*Peeks his head thru the window...* *DING DONG!...DITCH! Runs behind the bushes so none of the other D1 guys see him*

Thought since I have some time I'd actually race...*Crowd Gasps*

So after 30 min here are my painstakingly slow splits, my God that didn't take long to get out of practice...lol.

T1 - :22.756
T2 - :41.479
Final - Another second to trim hopefully, that is....

I did 20 laps this time, with Medium Tyres, and with Manual Transmission. It was surprisingly easy (with the DS2 ;).

I got :

T1 : 23.053 (slower than AT)
T2 : 41.653 (faster than AT)

The key for T1 is to go successfully thru the first two corners. The key for T2 is to go succesfully thru the first corner after the tunnel (that's where you get all the accel.) If you are successful in these, the track's all yours.

sorry, mkay, but if it was easy you'd be faster than holl01....:odd:

T1 - :22.685
T2 - :41.256
Final - Another .5 needed atleast

indeed, will be down to how well we take the hairpin that spilts us up i think... 👍

got a chance to run a quick session between loads of laundy :guilty:
the knee felt pretty good 👍

22.796
41.561

I know there is still more out there, just the damn knee :ouch:
Never mind trying to learn about racing JGTC :scared:

Great set-up 👍

Well, here are my spits after about 30 laps or so...

For a tenth of a second I wondered why you would have attached your spits (or presumably pics of them) to this thread, then I realized that it was only a typo.
Pheeeeew :scared:

New splits, finding this one tough, still no new DS2 and so my thumbs and blisters are killing me!

T1: 0'22.570
T2: 0'41.218

Board updated too (why does everyone have to be so damn fast  )

argh been busting this out for the last couple of hours (120 laps straight!!!) :indiff: for a 0.2 gain on my previous best, i know there is another 0.1-0.2 in it absolutley nailed the last corner...

T1: 22.392 (seen 22.325)
T2: 40.664 (seen a low 40.5xx - hopefully get a 40.4xx through here by the end of it)
Finish: 1'x0.xx6

i´m very anxious (i guess that´s the word) to get back at this combo...

the start was promising, once i figure T1 i can have a 40´5 or so time...
might be a good combo for me...

hopefully i can find some time today to run some laps...

i also have a very bad DS2 right now, but i´m holding back the purchase of a new one because i still dream to get a wheel...

Hey thx for the warm welcome Steve...lol. Now everyone is at 40.7 or so, DAUYMMM!!!! Got another what .7 to trim? I'll try no drifting, my tires are squealing like a kid at a playground.

Jerome

Okay, finally got a session in. After an hour:

T1 22.382
T2 40.829

Feeling okay about this one... Still have lots of work to do though.

THOSE r some nice splits there shigspeed, if ur best T1 split was only .3xx, then u must be doing something wrong as the limit for T1 is a high .1xx, although i have never achieved that mark, my best was .211.

r u staying in gear 4 for the double left (using 290?) u should initially kill ur speed down to about 192ish as u hit the inside apex or just pass the first left and then sort of 3/4 throtle it at a nice 200ish speed, and u should really end up on the extreme right of the mid apex to allow ur self to maximise ur speed through the 2nd left, which, from the position i just mentioned , u brake dwon to 150ish, and just guide the car through the exiting corner nicely, dont worry if u slightly drift the car on exit either, u should start powering out at low 130's.

and the next left, skip over the right rumble strip (cutting it severly to stay as straight as possible, and then take the corner at 150, but do not cut the inside rumble strip, it effects ur exit speed, and thus, is not faster;) take it at a high 140, and comprimise between having a high cornering speed yet achieving slower exiting speed due to not being able to power out early, and having a fast exit speed, yet a slow cornering speed. gt4 is all about making compromises. i hope that helps at all.

THOSE r some nice splits there shigspeed, but if u spent 120 laps driving it and u failed to see one 20.2xx T1 split, then that is a good indication that u r failing this week:sly:

ur technique needs some polishing:tup:

First he lost the plot, now his technique needs polishing and he's failing?!

I love this "encouragement" you seem to give _SHOCKWAVE_ (not me...).

I want time to get a 120 lap enduro!

How are you getting those speeds? I am at max speed of 159 at the end of the straight. Am I driving the wrong car??? or are you talking kmh and not mph??

Yup,
Holl always uses Kmh.

Think it's just to confuse the hell out of the rest of us.

Or at the least cause us to get the calculators out! :)

BTW, Dan, even though we all hate you for being so fast (just kidding!), I just wanted to thank you for consistently sharing your hints and insights, even though I still can't seem to follow through and live by them.

What you're doing is kinda like being in front of a firing squad, except the guys with the rifles are blindfolded and YOU'RE telling them which way to aim!

Thanks again,

-SHig

/\ Hahahaha!!!

Isnt that the truth.....but I will try out your method there in T1 as I'm already .5 behind you there Dan and I'll try 290 gearing too I put it at 260 initially but haven't messed around with it yet and I usually dont until I am confident with the combo.
