Jeez.....what the hell are they putting in the water downyonder anyway? It's like racing an Aussie wolfpack lately.

Nice splits shockwave. đź‘Ť

we can start our own theory about this...

1 - PAL is faster
2 - there´s something in the water
3 - dan is sending replays to every aussie WRS driver
4 - they are secretly forming an entire aussie team for the BC6.
5 - we are getting old and slow:crazy:

as for me i´m also struggling with this one... can´t seem to get T1 right, and them, the one time i got it right, i messed up T2.

22´5xx
40´8xx

still didn´t break the second barrier, so i´m also losing something in the end... my problem is half throttle-half brake. can´t do that with my setup, so is another evidence for me to learn butons or buy a wheel

1. shouldn't be any difference in the WRS all the figures appear the same to me
2. yeah too much water and not enough alcohol
3. nope, i have never actually watched one of his replays
4. i think that might be stretching the truth :P although we will fill a number of spots
5. yes and yes

KLR142
For now, DS2, 290 gearing:
T1: 22.593
T2: 40.917
T3: only .2 faster...

I'll have to re-arrange my goals for this week. I want .3 more at the line, and I'll be satisfied, I don't care how the rest of my splits are, as long as I get that .3... And, quite possibly, by the time I DO get it, I'll be managing even faster splits, on every OTHER lap, and change my mind again to go faster... Time will tell!

dot dot dot :dunce: đź‘Ť

Ouch! Not fair, I just woke up....
Nice T2, that is going to be really hard to beat (but I know where I am losing time though).
Look for some splits soon (but not a long stint, I have to got to my brothers birthday party....)

EDIT:
New splits
22.657
41.255
and knocked .6 off my best lap

If you're going for what I think you are going for (with .3 more at the line), then I'm only .1 away at the line....

EDIT2:
More new splits, and I hit my goal for the morning!
22.496
40.978 (w00t)
and I gained another .1 at the line (could've had .2 or .3, but I bombed the hairpin)
Yet again, I'm right behind you KLR... .1 ahead of you at T1, but .06 behind you at T2...I'm doing something wrong in T2 lol

Sweet, man! I do believe you've surpassed me at the line...

can someone please give me insight on how to take that hairpin before the straight?? :dunce:

Is there a website that has the top views of the GT4 tracks? I think it would be useful for drawing the driving line.

thanks NielsG. I think I may take that into Illustrator and see if I can trace a line... đź‘Ť

There's a bigger pic here that shows the hairpin as a perfect semi-circle.
I suggest you brake as wide as possible since we can use all concrete areas this week.

Sorry Jake,

I usually have most of the trackmaps available, but for some reason the site I get them off isn't working at the minute.

Will have another look around on the net.

I'll get back to you.

Neil

is this the line??

I would say, that's a good line!

But then again, i'm not one of the fast guys.

Neil

I find your exit too tight. The apex looks good but I then I would go wider and ride the outside rumble strip.

OK, ride the rumble strip. here's rough sketch of my entire line...

Pretty different from mine.

Turn 1 : I stay outside, then at the same time dive towards the apex, brake too hard to lock the wheels and slightly drift past the apex.

Double left after the tunnel : I dive inside the first left hander they stay wide on the concrete for the second one, and kick most of the cones on the right hand side (on the part that joins the full version of the track). I think your line could be much more straight in this section.

Just my 0.02 € since you're probably already faster than me :D

OK, I'll give that a shot. I haven't caught my ghost in about 50 laps. :ouch:

wow, do I actually work for a living? :)

is there a way to turn off the ghost? sometimes I feel it hurts more than helps...

Well I think it's dirty (an inch of rubber was all that was on the track before the sweeping left, cones everywhere) but these are the splits..

22.808
41.481

I get the feeling this is dirty so I guess it doesn't count?

Yup, there certainly is!

Look in the options menu, you will find the button assignments for your controller of choice.

It will be there.

Can't remember what the default is, it's been a while since i re-assigned it to the d-pad of my wheel.

Neil

Dude, I feel so stupid :dunce: for not knowing that. It's the UP ARROW... now I assume if you have it off it will still be recording so you can save it?

Farout! Just when I think I'm getting faster, everyone else does too  New splits for me:

T1: 0'22.596
T2: 0'41.032

And if there is something in the water, I'm not drinking enough it would seem (*gets out his water bottle*)

- Leaderboard updated
- Your line map Jake is exactly the line I'm taking if that's any help
- And to toggle the ghost you need to push the directional pad "up"
- The game still functions as if it was there, you just can't see it

Looks like it's back to the track for me :indiff:

Yup,

The option to switch off the ghost only effects what you see whilst driving.

You can tell if you are infront or behind your ghost by the position indicator in the top left corner.

Also you can turn it off and on at will throughout the lap if you just want to see where it is.

Yip. It still works fine even though you can't see it.

I always race with mine off and I judge my performance by the blue split times (the blue ones are my favourite :D).

When I have my ghost on I can't help 'racing' it, and rather than drive through it I'll overtake it up the inside etc. :dunce:

Just something I can't break the habit of... :indiff:

good to know. I was always racing my ghost as well. It's hard not to do that.. ON another note, did you guys see the flags blowing in the wind near the grandstands in the last corner? I never noticed that feature in any of the tracks... ( I think the beer is getting to me  ) now that I am aware, they are everywhere!

Same for me. When the ghost I 'on', I'm too tempted to brake later than him and I waste most of my laps.
BTW, Jake73, if you're not sure whether your lap is dirty or not you can always PM someone NTSC and send a replay by e-mail. He can check the replay for you without having everybody in the thread knowing your final lap time.
An inch on the track is fine if it's an inch for at least two tires.

Edit :
Flags blow in the wind on all tracks. On the replays at least, I'm not sure the wind blows that much during the race.

Oh, I didn't know I could PM my replay before the race is over. I can send a replay to any NTSC racer in this thread??

edit:we should have another column in leaderboard showing who is NTSC or PAL...

Sure you can. The rules state that you can't post your lap time in the thread, but if you need to be certain that your lap is legal just ask any trusted NTSC driver here if he can check the replay before you submit it so that you're certain of what you submit.
Smallhorses or TheWizard or MinorShunt would certainly accept, provided you don't ask every week of course. Most of the time you'll manage to run a faster clean lap.

As for knowing who's NTSC and who's PAL, well, some people mention it in their sig, or else I'm usually considering that America and Asia are NTSC, while Europe Africa and Oceania are PAL. It's a rough approximation but it's pretty close to the truth.

Ok, I'm off to run some laps in the CZ-3. Hopefully I'll submit a time this week.

Leaves DO fall at certain corners of the Autumn ring! So flags waving, I'll buy that!

Mind you if you're watching for waving flag whilst racing, your concentration must be 100% better than mine! LOL

Neil

I toggle the ghost on and off pretty frequently personally.

Now...I have a question that I hope has an answer in my favour :sly:

I just did a very sweet lap in my opinion but I went onto a section of track where I am unsure of it's legality:

This is the entry to the tunnel just before we get to T1. I have mounted the curb here and both my tyres are beyond the road line, however there is no rumble strip so I'm wondering what consitutes legal vs illegal here? I didn't touch the wall as you can see below:

So before I celebrate my groovy lap or get back behind the wheel I thought I'd get this clarified.

Thanks
