Can you take a picture that shows the left side of the car directly from the rear? If the two wheels hanging off the left side still have an inch or so over the track I would assume the cleanliness of the lap isn't even an issue as two wheels are over the track surface.

You can unpack the beers, you lap is clean.
I said in post#1 that all concrete areas are legal this week, which allows you to be fully behind the rumble strip, provided you don't touch walls.

I'm certain there is at least one point where both tyres are beyond the white line though, this picture is where the rear is at it's closest to the wall that's all.

[EDIT]
Well I just did an experiment to purposely hit the wall at the point where I *thought* my lap was still okay. I turns out you can't actually hit the wall directly, I think I can confidently conclude the second of my pictures is actually a wall touch, despite the fact it clearly looks clean, bit of a shame :(

Back to the drawing board...can I borrow some of your monkeys SHig?
[/EDIT]

sorry about the newbie question, but how did you get the images off the console? I put them of the maxdrive but they don't upload on the PC as images..

I have the same problem on another part of the course. that looks dirty to me but I am new at this, so I would be interested at what the veterans say...

I can't save them on the Max Drive stick either : I save them on a standard USB stick and have no problem.

Edit : don't save them on the memcard card first : you need to select directly the USB stick when you first save the pic, and then it's saved as JPG.

You have to save them directly to a USB Flash Drive. I use my Mp3 player for Photo Mode pics as well as a max drive so it functions as both. You need to buy a flash drive that can show up as a removable disk on your computer and not a .max file.

I think under ordinary circumstances, that lap WOULD be dirty -- but this week FlatOut made an exception to the rules, allowing the concrete areas behind the rumble strips to be legal, as long as you're not colliding with anything (like the wall that he just BARELY missed...)

So this week, that lap is clean. Other weeks (without the special exception made by FlatOut) that lap would most likely be dirty...

And as far as transferring pics from the PS2 to the PC -- I have no idea how to do it either... I can get replays done that way, in .MAX format, but I have no idea how to get .JPG files out of there... The JPG's wind up being in .MAX format, too, which the PC can't read...

Correct me if I am wrong but I would say that this is a good example of dirty :D

Hey MrWeary

Remember after the Seoul race, there was a lot of testing for wall touches with loads of photos?

I did a test comparison between the side mirrors on a car, when the g-metre said there had been a touch but the photos showed a definate gap between the car and the wall.

The photos showed that the only part of a car that touches the wall is the wing mirror
my.php
[/IMG]

In the left half the end of the mirror is squared off, the car is clear of the wall, on the right the mirror is rounded off at the end.

Compare the pic of the right hand side of your car and the wall.

Your mirror is squared off.

I know you have come to the same conclusion yourself, but for everone's info, it's the only concrete photographic evidence the game provides for a vertical wall touch.

And not meaning any offence to you at all, it's just convienient(sp-MANY beers etc) that you not only posted a nice example of the photo-proof and then questioned it yourself and came to the same conclusion.👍 👍

If anyone's wondering,

I haven't ran more than 4 laps this week, been decorating, dealing with real life stuff, playing Shogun Total War for the first time.
Gonna get down to it tommorow afternoon, after finishing the wallpapering of the bedroom (Hmph! It was fine the way it was! At least I got to keep the midnight blue ceiling, Ha!)

There's another word than racing to define that : lawnmowing.

Concerning questions on how to save pics :

1) save your ghost
2) leave the free run session
3) go to the replay manager
4) load your ghost
5) view your replay
6) use <SELECT> to enter photomode
7) press X to take a picture
8) press <START> to save the picture
9) scroll the list, ignore both memcard options and go directly to USB pen.

That creates a JPG file on you stick.

I could have sworn I was on the pavement, officer... Why did you pull me over?

If you guys want to join the WLS (Weekly Lawnmowing Series) I will be the head honcho.... :dopey:

My splits as of right now are:
T1: 23.069 (0.434 sec's faster)
T2: 42.071 (0.530 sec's faster)
END: 0.620 sec's faster than before...

I reviewed my earlier replay (the one posted in the Quote above) and I had 3 wheels in the grass on the turn just before the tunnel, so it's dirty... The one posted below is totally clean...

T1: 23.307 (WORSE than before, dammit!)
T2: 42.048 (0.023 sec's faster)
END: 0.101 sec's faster

Will I EVER break the 22.xxx mark for T1 or the 41.xxx mark for T2? I'm beginning to think not... I did see a 41.9xx once, but screwed up the last turn and went off into the gravel... :banghead: I've never managed less than 23.0xx on T1... Very frustrating...

Well, FINALLY.

Broke the 22.x and the 41.x mark on T1 and T2, respectively...

T1: 22.730
T2: 41.556
END: 0.526 sec's faster than before...

That's with 280-km/h gearing, also... (I was running 290 before. 280 is faster for me, apparently...)

So, I'm quitting for the night... See y'all later...

Hey Weary,

You can HAVE a bunch! I have plenty... In fact, you too can be part of the MMRT! :^)

As for your replay, wing mirror squared off or not, the only "REAL" way you can tell during a non-race event if you touched the wall is by looking at the analyzer. If you have a speed loss, then you touched. Usually 1 to 2 mph over one frame at max resolution. I had a wing mirror incident at Seoul but with no analyzer, I had to assume dirty.

As for dirty or clean, regardless of week, I'm pretty sure that as long as you're not touching the wall, it's good. White line means nothing in WRS. Concrete adjacent to the track is okay, rumbles are okay, grass is bad, concrete behind rumbles are bad. Four wheels behind the white line on concrete adjacent to the track is NORMALLY okay IIRC unless otherwise noted in the rules for the week. Please correct me if I'm mistaken.

Gave my overabundance of monkeys a bit of a workout today (home early from work and watching the kids):

T1 22.382 (yes, exactly to the 0.001" the time that I had posted earlier)
T2 40.730 (had a 40.58X" but the kids were fighting and distracted me. Could've KILLED 'em!)

-SHig

Normally I would jump straight into the analyzer but the point at which I hit was an awful jolt due to the edge of the road there so I don't think it would have been very conclusive...I'm not confident on the lap so I'm scrapping it, I still think I can do it again anyway.

As for your splits, sorry I missed your earlier ones...I've updated the board though now...yet another Div-one'r slides in front of my slow a$$ :sly:

In the words of Lleyton Hewitt......"COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

T1: 0'22.411
T2: 0'40.792

I lost about 0.05 in the finish but I'm pretty happy (although my fingers are not) and I beat my old dirty lap by almost 0.1. There's probably an absolute maximum of 0.1 out there for me to gain but my fingers are telling me to submit this lap :)

Very happy 👍

LLeyton WHO?

Better bandage up those fingers...

T1 22.356 (had a 22.320)
T2 40.658 (had a 40.650)

Feeling much better now. On that 40.650 lap (0.012" faster than my current fast lap) I dropped my front left tire off of the asphalt about 2 feet too early at the end of the front straight and there wasn't any rumble there to "catch" me yet... :^(!!

Oh well, not far off of that and I still see time.

Another wholly satisfying Arcade week!

-SHig

I finally managed to run a 6-8 lap session yesterday, with a consistent 23.1 at T1. Then I switched mem cards and ran some licences in the brand new game I started this week. 15 gold, 14 silver and 3 bronze so far (A and B licences only).
I'll get back to the CZ-3 later today, hopefully with a longer session.

hey, had another session of the combo and improved my time by a further 0.117 with

20.177 (great;) best ever T1 i had performed)
40.353 (great corner b4 T2, but fairly dissaopinting directly after T1)

last corner was just ok, nothing insane though. time submitted

Jumpin' Jehosaphat! How on Earth (okay, I guess I answered my own question) do you go more than a tenth and a half faster than everyone else in just 20 seconds?

Unreal...

Well, who is gonna step up and challenge THAT time? Anyone? Bueller?

-SHig

Maybe GT Pro could step up?

That is, if he has got tired of colouring in yet? :D

Not ran yet (apart from 4 laps on Tuesday)

Maybe tommorrow.

Neil

T1- 22.947
T2- 41.904

It took me awhile to break '42, but a low '40? Unreal...:boggled: I guess that's why I'm in Div. 3; there is no way I could come close to that time.

There's no way anybody could come close to such a time. It's like running the 100m in 12.0 seconds and wondering how people can run under 10.0

hOt? Veil? Ice? C'mon! We need some NTSC backup guys! Curtis, screw 4 wheels on, run it to the max and show us that PAL doesn't have a built in advantage! :^)

You guys can't expect Minor, Randy, and me to hold off the Aussie Assault by ourselves, do you?

humph...

-SHig

Guess who is gonna get the wooden spoon?

23.399
42.640

After 3 more laps only.

Bummer!:grumpy:
