Farout! You guys are quick, no new splits from me, but I did swap my rear tyres for a set of RSH's for a bit of fun and got a super-nice drift happening around that bottom double left at the end of the straight, now THAT is some fun :)

Board updated.

Submissions are starting to flood my inbox (almost ;) ) and times are real close this week.
0.106 between the top 3 div 1 times ;
0.125 between the top 3 div 2 times.

BTW, it's nice to see that many old-timers coming back. Is it the closing of the convo forum that forced the gossips to get back to racing ? :mischievous:

flat-out

its also an easygoing combo that does not take a lot of time to get into it... i think its one of the reasons for that good number of drivers we are having...

Cheers 👍 It took a while, but the last sector isn't that great so I'll try to improve on it later.

Nice to see you back, Kel and Jerry.
To those who don't know them, Sphinx and lotus350 used to be div 1 racers in the GT3 WRS. And Kelly is the fastest girl in the WRS. Ok, there are only 4 girls registered as far as I know (the remaining 418 racers featuring therefore 416 boys and 2 aliens), but she's damn fast anyway.

Time submitted. No improvements.

flat-out

We return every time you post a good combo, Cyril. :sly:

Thanks for the kind words Cyril :) Although I'm not damn fast anymore, it's still fun to join in every once in a while :dopey: Hopefully I can get my competitiveness back with a few more races!

Good to see Jerry back in action also 👍

Last time you raced was in week 40, on Fuji with the GT40. You have a very personal definition of a good combo then, cos' many races since were more enjoyable than week 40. :mischievous:

@Kel : I suggest you wait until the results are posted before you say you're not damn fast anymore, or else all machos around will be seriously ashamed :D

Kelly is alive

Nice combo,Cyril,I like the tire choice.👍

You have to win it in the Special Conditions Hall in GT Mode. My splits will be posted later today, but don't get too excited, they're not good :(

Updated Times! Getting Better!

I'm really screwing up the first two turns :(

Ahhh! Now I see, said the blind man!

Ta

It's down to which version has the better variant of the car for each track!

<snip>

I agree, it's not likely to be down to coding changes, it's more likely down to the fact that US and EU cars from the same 'manufacturer' have different suspension parts and engines. Not only from different suppliers and countries, but also to different specs.

PD know this, and have varied the specs of the cars concerned, to suit. I presume?

That's a very interesting theory, Neil... I hadn't even thought of that. (I'm a professional computer geek in real life, so of course my mind was immediately going towards the technical differences between creating a PAL display vs. creating an NTSC display, and what advantages that might inadvertently cause). Things like "it doesn't have to update the display as many times per second with PAL, and thus can devote more CPU power to accurately re-creating the car's physics, possibly giving you better handling than you'd see otherwise. Leading to a VERY slight advantage, but still an advantage nonetheless..." But your theory about the actual cars being different in Europe (very much true in real life cars) may very well apply to the game.

A real-life example, is my 1980 Mercedes-Benz 240D. In Europe, the very same model is a good couple-hundred-pounds lighter than it is in the States... Less "luxury" material in there, like sound deadeners. And usually cloth upholstery, instead of the heavier MB-Tex (read: pretty-good fake leather, and higher quality than plain vinyl) upholstery that's standard in the States. Bunches of little things that wind up removing those pounds from the car's curb-weight -- that'd make it handle better, accelerate better, everything... (Plus the 2.4L Diesel engine is tuned slightly differently in Europe -- giving an extra 5HP or so. Which doesn't sound like much, 'till you realize that the US-version has a whopping 67 HP! That's not a typo -- sixty-seven horsepower... An extra 5HP is a 7% increase! Zero-to-60MPH in 24 seconds instead of 27! <GRIN> But hey, it gets nearly 30MPG around town... And it'll burn ANYTHING -- used motor oil or tranny fluid (filtered first, of course), any kind of vegetable oil, bio-Diesel, regular Diesel. Anything... Even a little bit of Gasoline thrown in there won't hurt -- and actually helps a little bit during extremely cold weather...)

And I'm sure there are some cars that go the other way -- more power and/or less weight in the States, rather than in Europe.

So you may very well be right about that... In the hands of a good driver, that would easily translate into a tenth or two on most tracks, which is what we're seeing for the most part when (admittedly, unscientifically) comparing the NTSC and PAL versions of the game...

Sjaak here too
Racing tyres + short track + no walls + no AI = lots of racers.
Ok, I'll remember it :D

Btw, for those who already forgot last week, we're still expecting replays from ferrari_chris and Thirdeye, and the deadline is tomorrow. Thirdeye, time to check if your brand new Sharkport works fine :D

One suggestion, being a rally guy if you will. How about we stop wasting good dirt cars on pavement. Its redicilous (sp?) trying NOT to drift this car around the turns. Just a suggestion. But I know that if Cyril chooses a rally race EVERYONE will jump on his back w/e no worries.

Jerome

This car handles so well and turns so swiftly that the waste would be to use it on dirt where it wouldn't turn at all (as any other car) :D
There will be a race on dirt/snow soon, as it's being discussed in the suggestion thread. Probably in week 49 (from March 21st to 28th).

Oh, and I hate being Mr. Smart-ass but it's spelled ridiculous.
[whisper]Yes ! This one I did spot before Famine did[/whisper]

haha thx Cyril ;)

Jerome

I really enjoyed the handling and swiftness of the car as well. It was a great combo, imo.

Submitting my time. I can't touch my ghost anymore. Man he's fast.

I'm a bit disappointed that I didn't break the 41 second barrier, but I'm still happy with the results.

My times...

Tomorrow I'll edit this post with some pics! ^^

I got some better splits:
22.399
40.929

....but I stuffed up the hairpin and pulled a x'1x.xxx

I absolutely loved the combo, but I am extremely dissapointed in my own result....I didn't hit my goal, at all (not even on dirty laps). I know I can do better too! Ug oh well, KLR, Div 2 is yours this week.

Wow been a while since i've touched gt4, but small_fryz has given me the little nudge i needed to get back into it. Things have completely changed since i last raced.. and i am surprised to see a lot of new names pushing holl and hot! It's gonna be a longgggg road for me to get back to get back to respectable status :)

I dont remember my exact splits for this race, but i never figured out T1 (saw 22.55 once).
My splits on the lap that i submitted might look something like
22.67
40.98

A ton of work to do, but i'm looking forward to it!

I dunno about that man! I haven't had a chance to go at it again yet... I'm going to sit down here in a little bit and try, but I've been REALLY sick ALL day, and I still don't feel too well, I'm all medicated, so we'll see. But yeah, I was in bed all day long except for a half an hour, and then about an hour ago I finally started to feel better, probably because of the meds. I really need to be better by tomorrow though, I can't afford to miss more work!

Ouch, hope you get better.
But about the time, even if you are sick you can beat it, just don't stuff up the hairpin at the end :)
I hope you do get better and beat my time, I don't want to win because you got sick (unless someone else in Div 2 pulled a really nice time, then I won't win at all). Let me rephrase that: I don't want to beat you because you were sick, we both want a fair fight for this.

Oh well, I guess stuff happens

Get well soon, and good luck
