Not a big surprise, since you already knew what the combo would be. We finally go for one lap only, but still in single race mode : that will make things easier to make sure the car you drive is a convertible : if there is a 'roof' option in the race settings, then it's a convertible.
But I won't give you any list of available cars, and you will have to keep all cars you test secret.
There is a pwr restriction too : if you get confused, you can always PM me your car choice (the exact name), the minimum weight and the power you use, I'll confirm you whether it's ok or not.
For those who don't know where to find a car matching the restrictions, look at the pic below :sly:

Week 50 : a convertible car powered by a 1800cc engine @ Nürburgring Nordschleife

WRS50.jpg

Submission :
All submissions must be sent to me by PM (flat-out).
  • you can submit only once per race ;

  • deadline is tuesday 4th april 9pm GMT (L.A. 1pm, New-York 4pm, London 10pm, Paris 11pm, Tokyo wed. 6am, Sydney wed. 8am).
Time verification :
Save your replay and keep it at least a full week after the time has been submitted.
  • fastest times each week will be required to submit with verification ;
  • any submitted time is subject to a time verification request ;
  • when a time verification has been required, the concerned racer must provide a replay before next race deadline ;

  • video replays are not accepted, only .max, .xps or .sps files can be verified.

Will get cracking.....

*EDIT*

Got my car choice sorted and it didnt take long to decide either!

Initial first lap splits

T3 = 2'10.166

T6 = 4'34.550

T9 = 6'50.654

Plenty of scope to improve that too..

Good combo Cyril, Nice work.

regards

David

#3 and I am on it... This should be a good one 👍

Y'know, I was in the middle of writing a long post with reference to the inordinately large number of guys (and listing every one of them) that only wanted to race one lap of the ring, and pointing out that it is such a monumental wimp-out!

Then, I lost the heart to finish it!

And to think we normally refer to the WRS as the place where 'real' GT4 racers should be.

I am almost ashamed.:boggled:

Nice combo 👍 I will give it a few hours and see how I go!

I have a few cars in mind...

Yeah, I understand your point, but in only one week with multiple cars to test, a 2-lapper would probably be too much.
We'll have a multi-lapper at the Ring by the summer, but it'll be in a tuning or race car with more than 150hp.

Don't get me wrong, I will be racing this week.

But, come on guys!!!!!!

In the JGTC series we will race for an hour! A whole HOUR! With AI set to +10 & tyre wear & pit stops, etc,etc.

And 'WE' the Great unwashed of the WRS can't handle two laps of the Ring?

I have just explained to the 'missus' what is going on, and her reply was " God, that's a bit wussie! I though you guys were the best?"
And that's a direct quote!

Just curious, what do you mean by 6.00 pwr?
Take the car minimum weight, divide it by the car power, you get the power to weight ratio, a.k.a. pwr

If your car weighs 1,000 kg at -10% weight, and the minimum pwr is at 6.00, it means that you can't have more than 166hp.
Because : 1000 / 6.00 = 166.67
So 167hp is just past the limit but 166hp is fine (1000 / 166 = 6.024)

@Neil :
With BC6 Qualifiers coming soon ;) it's wise to run only one lap this week.

Fair comment Cyril, but I still think it's a wimp-out.

Looking forward to this weeks round.

I think I'll spend a bit of time sorting a car, then get to work with some times.

Lets roll!

Ah ok, I thought the pwr was short for "power", not power/weight ratio :P My bad.

Do you actually have to beat the AI, or is it just the times that you're looking for?

Excuse my stupidity but by normal tires does that mean road tires? Are Sports tires "normal"

Small_Fryz
Normal tyes means N tyres (N1's, N2's, N3's) 👍

I just saw that on my screen, what an idiot I am!!!! Sorry, I've been a bit foggy lately...can ya tell?
Thanks Small_Fryz for not being cruel....you had every right to be. You're a true gentleman!!

Hey all,

Plan to run tonight, tomorrow, any other time I can, and all weekend.

However, I don't know if N tires and 6.000 pwr will be enough to keep me entertained. ;)

I already know my car and that's saying too much. :lol:
Will be back with times... Until then,
-Kent

Haha, when I ran away from this game I hit up Forza motorsport, But I love this game all the more. I was King at Nur on that game, lets see how well I do on here! I was top 10 in the world on that game online.

Ok quick question. DO you want us to count the pwr/lb ratio AFTER we reduce the weight or before we do it?

After you do it 👍

I've picked my car, and its the only one ive tested atm, but due to my experience in similar races, i had a few guidelines to go by....

Anyway i like this car and i actually saw it today in the shopping mall car park!!

Here are the splits from my 1st clean run. (Paints a big target on his back)

2'08.212
4'31.383
6'46.282

Made a big mistake T7 - T8, had to hit the brakes as i was gonna understeer into the wall!!. Expect to shave off many seconds from this time yet.

I liked how this week has formed up... keeping the cars quiet ... I'll be interested in finding out what was driven ... speaking of which... of the 4 majors, I've found one that I'm going with, and the one that I didn't think I was going to use... I still think by the end of the week, I'll have driven about everything with a rag on it :dopey:

👍 thanks for the early T times 👍
gives me at least a mark to shoot at :)

Well, I just spent a couple of hours trying out 4 different cars... Here are the best splits I could get while still being clean:

T3: 2'15.917
T6: 4'45.517
T9: 7'07.523

I know I could knock a couple of seconds off of those -- especially at the end. I messed up the last couple of turns (didn't hit anything, and didn't get more than 2 tires off track, so it's still clean) but I can do better...

The only "hard" thing about this (for me, at least) is keeping it clean for such a long time. Nearly nine minutes without a mistake is asking a lot of my not-so-good GT4 skills. ;)

Lol Small Frz, Im runnin almost identical to you, Ill have to post times in the morning, its 1am here, im going to bed.

Ok, I'm going to have very limited time to run in this one, since my usual games room (our spare room) is being used as of tomorrow by my wife's sister who'll be staying with us! :( (I'm going to have to sneak in runs wherever possible while she's out doing the touristy thing!)

Anyway, I have a car selection, not based on anything other than looks :drool: and personal preference. Don't think it'll be competetive with the fastest selections, but it's within the rules, I like it, and I know it'll be fun, which is the main reason we're here right?!!!! 👍

💡 I also have a suggestion for the end of the week. Since the replays here are going to be soooo long, it's a lot to ask for one or two people to be responsible for checking all of the NTSC or PAL submissions, as seems to be the case in most weeks I've raced so far. What I suggest is this:- that everyone who submits a replay to pick up part of the checking burden too. If you submit a replay, nominate a racer whose replay you'll also check. :)

Since we're not far enough into the week yet to determine how many people will be racing, it'll be difficult to start nominating, but, for example if Kent is still going by the submission time, I'll check his replay.... Someone can now nominate my replay etc., etc.... Or perhaps Flat-out could suggest certain pairings to check each other's replays.

What do you think? 👍 or 👎

Definatley 👍

But everyone would have to post they are entering the race(count me in)

But usually people like me don't bother posting at all during the week and just send their time off to flat-out

He would probably have to pm to everyone at the end of time submissions who will checks who's which would take some time

That's a good idea. You could always just say, check the persons replay who finished 1 position above you. Or something simple like that, rather then Flat-O sending about 30 individual PMs.

On the racing front. I ran about...10 cars today. It's going to be between 2 or 3, the others just can't cut it.
