So what, exactly, is "proper" British style? ;)

Smallhorses
Different to the rest of you and proudly Bronze all the way! :P

That's what I meant by British style! Dead last, or not too far off!
(we're not famous for topping the Gold & Silver medal charts! :( )

Congrats on your first Division win Laurence5905! ๐Ÿ‘

Great racing everyone!
I had no clue the MR-S was going to be as fast as it was... Atleast, not until I decided to look at a few other cars for the sake of playing around after submitting my MG time (proper brit style ;) ).

Lost by .4 to a G35 in my TF160.

Suprisingly, I dropped 10 full seconds from my initial run (more than 10 actually).
If that time had gone to the toyota I may have done a bit better but I enjoyed sliding the MG around so it's all good. :dopey:

Here are a few pics.
Can provide a replay if desired.

Congrats to the competitors who finished a clean lap. ๐Ÿ‘

Until next time,

So, Cyril... TOP NOTCH JOB MAN! Seriously. This week's race was great in SO many ways.

Let me elaborate:
-You used THE track.
-You allowed us to pick our own cars
-You set up the race for pretty much ANY of the cars could be competitive
-You included the suggestion that we race against ONE car
-You included the AWESOME MGs that I suggested we try out sometime
-You balanced it out that EACH car was able to compete with each other
-You made it so each and every of the cars does not feel like it's overpowered/under-tired, like they normally do when we bump up power 20%

And that's all that I can think of right now. But seriously. ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ :dopey:

Considering that the MG was the car I suggested back in the day, and it looks the best by FAR, I picked it. I had a hunch that one of the Toyotas might be faster, I noticed immediately that it was smoother and easier to drive, but I stuck with my MG for the above reasons. It's the COOLEST!

BTW, nice choice Kent! :)

DRIVEN -USA-
 [...]
Fast time was a 8'24.xxx but turned out dirty by 1 tire in the grass :ouch:
Ran the Mazda Miata 1800cc 04'
 indeed! Very well done man! I tried that car out, and found that it could possibly be fast, but was just WAY too unsettled for some odd reason. Of the Miatas, I also drove the '98, an the '95 VR-Limited. The '98 carried the same oversteer obsession at higher speeds that the '04 did, and the '95 seemed nicely balanced, unlike the other two, but just wasn't fast enough in a straight line. I definitely wasn't expecting the '04 to be sooooo damn fast though!!! ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘

Yeah. Kickass stuff right there. I have a new policy. Whenever I run a fast, clean race/lap, I save it in two places, once on my main memory card, and once on the memory card that I now have for JUST replays. That way, I don't have to pick through many, if any replays to get uploaded onto my max drive. Also, I noticed something about the max drive... The picture it very darkly shows when looking at the replay files, is the SAME picture that GT4 uses when you look at your replays. I never knew that!!! :ouch: :dunce:

Ohhhh yes. I had an idea. Could everyone post if they drafted or not? And then, Cyril, can you put next to their times in the first post whether they did or not?

I ended up using the AI at 0 and on SM tires. I tried a couple other settings, including the NSX on AI 10 with SM tires, but he got in my way in the first third of the track, and I didn't want to deal with that.

No drafting here. :(
I used the '93 Miata V-Special Type II since although mine is a '95 m-Edition in real life, the '93 in the game is the only one that I can get the colour combination right with! :D

I had AI set at +10 on N3 tyres, no opportunity to draft him :(, passed him before T1 :dunce:, and thrashed him by 9.568s , for a total of 152 A-spec points! :D
All that in the 3rd slowest lap of the week! :boggled:

Ok here is my replay could have been faster by 2 seconds or so but the ai kept hitting me so i just kept behind instead

I used the '02 1800RS in my race, except I forgot to submit my time until it was too late :( It seemed to oversteer a lot, but it was still quick. I used +1 pow, -9 wt.

well 2nd in Div 1 but 4th overall...:odd: probably should have done some slipstreaming, prolly would have pulled a few seconds off if the AI weren't so damn slow... congrates to the super quick D2 guys this week...

i used the mx5rs but gave up trying pretty soon because lapping the ring costs so much time, i kept hitting the grass AND my t-times were so crappy against the leaderboard that i lost faith. had i known only 2 d3 drivers would submit i would have also ...
but never mind, looking forward to el cap in the z, two of my favorites.
btw cyril, those Japanese aren't half bad if they had foreseen the merde joke :)
steven

I slipstreamed up to about T3 but then my opposition (I forget what car it was) took off. I chose my opponent at +10 and on SS

Hah, i hadn't registered yet, but did my time in a Lotus elise.

No you didn't. Because although the Lotus Elise is ~1800cc it's not a convertible (In this game anyway).

That's a black-flag mate. Welcome to WRS!

Actually he hasn't registered yet, used the wrong car and submitted a time 13 minutes after deadline. Next week can only be better :D

As previously posted I used the MR2 and it was the V spec '02.

Slipstreaming used!

Set the AI to +9 and road/normal tyres.
(best was the 256Hp Mazda RX-7)

The AI was tripping me up slightly in the first 1/4 of the lap, lost me slightly in during the run down to the Karrasell, but I could catch him back up through the twisties again and got a lovely draft down the back straight.

Had a 8'39.xxx but finished the lap at 9.01 pm GMT! :banghead: and obviously missed the deadline.

Too much else going on, and not enough free time during the week.

Neil

Forgot to mention the car in my original post was the R32 GTR N1 set at +10, and on S2 tyres, he got away from me at the T5 marker and from then I could keep in check but never close enough....

Interestingly my time without using any drafting would have still landed me in the same place overall in D2! Kind of wish I had submitted that somehow....

Amazed with Shockwaveracing's time with no draft.......and no matter how many times I look at Dan's Gold time I cant help thinking he shares DNA with E.T

Ohhhh yes. I had an idea. Could everyone post if they drafted or not? And then, Cyril, can you put next to their times in the first post whether they did or not?

Well, I drafted part of the time -- up 'till somewhere between T5 and T6, where he completely lost me...

AI was set to +7, on SM tires. The computer served up an Opel Speedster Turbo with those settings -- I wish that car had been a qualifier! That would've been a fun car to take out on the Ring...

And, on another topic, the Lotus Elise in real life is "technically" a convertible because it has a removeable fibreglass top. Although it's just the center-section of the top that can be removed -- you're still left with the rear-window in place when the top is removed... But GT4 won't let you drive it as a convertible, so it didn't qualify for this race...

I thought the race was great. Taking a weaker powered drop top and chasing down many high end automobiles. ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘

I found some good settings to give me good runs but I wish I could have changed the tyres on the AI so I didn't have to ease up on the throttle to avoid hitting him.

I had the AI set at +10 with N3 tyres and was given an EVO VII on my fastest run. I drafted him up until the first stretch and he drafted me the rest until the back stretch and that's when I lost to him. I was surprised that I wasn't the only one using the MG.

Why were you suprised? It WAS the coolest car available... :sly:

I think I'll be back in a bit with some replays checked...

Shiggy, CLEAN as a whistle! Thanks SOOOO much for not making me take second looks at any close calls! That would suck. That's probably why I haven't seen any replays checked yet, lol. I'll get to a couple more sometime tonight. It's too bad PD isn't smart enough to include a rewind button for their replays... *sigh*

EDIT:

Lawrence, well done man! Good job sticking with it this week and coming up with a clean one. I bet the AI scared you a bit there in the beginning when he's stomping on the brakes right in front of you. Like right before the left high speed sweeper before T2... Yikes!

Smallhorses, if you're NTSC, your replay's loaded in the maxdrive, and about to be watched... Brb.

Bleu, you're next.

I don't know if anyone else is NTSC or not that's already posted their replays...

Hey!

well this combo was fantastic flat-out, cant remember the last time u've served up a dud. i used the mr2 V, and i had the ai set 2 -10, so i passed the car b4 the first corner, hence no drafting, will post a replay soonish, my computer is being repaired at the moment so may take 4 or 5 days i guess.

cheers!

It IS the best looking one IMO. I just expected the MR-2 Spyder to be the popular one. And with so many choices of the MX-5 was another reason I thought no-one would use the MG.

I'll check some replays tomorrow. I do want to see how you guys tackled the "RING"

Thanks, Kyle, I'm as NTSC-as-they-come! (just added that to my signature for future reference too!) Mine's clean too, but there's that one close call between Wippermann & Eschbach that I mentioned earlier in the week, having watched it about 10 times (know what you mean about that "rewind" function! That'd've saved me hours!) I'm sure it's clean, the rear tyre never loses contact with the white line!
Huh, it's a slow enough lap that there's no doubt about it! :( Beautiful car though! :D

I'll check yours now, and I'm not sure if bleurabbit7 is NTSC or not, but I've grabbed his replay too. May try one or two more too, the Nurb is such a fantastic circuit, that even watching someone else racing round there for 8-and-a-bit minutes is a pleasure!

Lol does it mean I sitll have to submit a replay?

PM me or possibly Laurence5905, my offer still stands, and probably his will too. It'll take a while, with shipping & all, but we'll make sure you're legit if you want us too, it'll be a great way to establish yourself!
Congrats on a fine victory! ๐Ÿ‘

Thanks for the Green Flag Kyle! :)

I'm happy to award yours too, sweet & clean replay as expected for KLR142 ๐Ÿ‘ 2nd best time in a non-MR2! :D
(I'd ask for Kent's replay if I were you! Only kidding Kent! :guilty: I still  to the RSR thread! ;) )

bleurabbit7 I can verify is a ๐Ÿ‘ too.

DRIVEN -USA- I took a wild stab in the dark, and guessed he's in the USA, not sure why though! :sly:
Downloaded replay for the Mazda MX-5 Miata 1800RS (J) '04, and it shows 160HP on the replay screen, which is ๐Ÿ‘, however, it also shows tyres as SS which is ๐Ÿ‘Ž So, though it pains me dearly to do this, I have to Red Flag the only other MX-5 Miata lap submitted this week. :guilty: Sorry. :( Laptime is correct, and the lap is 100% clean, otherwise. :banghead:

@Casio, just curious, what did you run in? It doesn't say in the leaderboard.

So the NTSCers have put those PAL replay checkers to shame for the 2nd week in a row! Maybe you should goad us more often Cyril! :sly:

Thanks! Yeah, I think I'll have to bug him about that... Nah, I'm not too suprised by his time, so I don't need to bug him I don't think. If he was 10 seconds faster than me though, I'd definitely like to see it... :)

Hey PALs, come on now, we're all buddies here. Get with the program! :-P Lol, just playing.

Small, good call on the USA thing, I didn't even THINK that the fact that he has USA in his name would mean something. I was just concentrating on sigs and locations! :dunce:

Oh, and Cyril, I did NOT use any drafting for my run. ๐Ÿ‘

Yikes is right! :dopey: Yes, I was very glad I didn't hit him, because that turned out to be my best lap of the week.

Thanks for verifying my replay...

My offer definitely still stands, if you can't find someone locally to do it for you... I'm curious as hell to see your replay, StrokerAce!
