Okay, here is the longest race we've ever run in the GT4 WRS : about half an hour. The car is fast, the track is wide : it should be pretty easy to keep the race clean. The highest top speed I reached in Mulsanne straight during my testing was 237 mph (381 km/h). You would have to trust your brakes to do that in real life !

Week 54 : BMW McLaren F1 GTR Race Car '97 @ Circuit de la Sarthe 2

Arcade Mode / Single Race / World Circuits / Circuit de la Sarthe 2 (unchicaned)

  • forced pit-through penalty ;

  • rumble strips are part of the track ;
    Special : all tarmac, concrete and cobblestones areas are legal. Only walls, grass and sand are off-track.
  • no contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible ;
  • no contact with AI ;
  • if you're not 100% sure that you lap is clean, then consider it dirty ;

Some extra special rules about that race.

Pit stops
The tyre wear is on because I want to include a pit stop strategy. The tyre choice is entirely up to you, for your car as well as for AI cars, and you can mix compounds, but you are required to do at least one pit stop and change tyres during the race.

Track boundaries
Unlike week 45, I want the rules to be pretty cool.
Everything that is tarmac, rumble strips, concrete, cobblestones is part of the track, and whether it's beyond the rumble strips or not doesn't matter. Sand and grass remain off track.
Offs will be accepted if no time was gained in the process. Short-cutting will be immediately disqualified.

Contact
Most contacts will be immediately disqualified :
  • any wall contact
  • major AI contact (audible noise)
  • contact resulting in a drive-thru penalty
  • direct front end or rear end contact under respectively braking or acceleration
  • forcing passage in turns
Minor contacts can be tolerated under certain conditions :
  • no time was gained
  • contact was not voluntary
  • it can be assumed that such a contact in real life wouldn't have caused any damage.

2nd post (ish...says post #4, but you know what I mean)....this will be a good one!

👍 for omitting the chicanes...that's where I lost the most time during Week 45 (could've had a 3'02 or possibly 3'01 if I did the chicanes right).

And just making sure (I read the whole 1st post, it says concrete and cobblestones, but I like to be completely sure)....the red sections are legal? Because I don't want to get surprised and have to start over (like Week 52)

Oh my, that is one hardcore challenge! :crazy: Nothing impossible but I'm afraid that'll be another week off for me, for I didn't unlocked the car nor the track. I'll get there but not under a week time. :scared:

Hope you guys have fun, though. Insane combo from Flat-O. ;)

:bowdown: for the combo, and

:bowdown: :bowdown: :bowdown: for the rules. i know i´ve been away from wrs, but i´ll definately find time for this one:tup:

30 minute event + 2 combos for BC + 1 rally combo for BC + JGTC...

shouldn´t this be a 2 week event???

just an idea, lets see what other drivers say about this...

30 minute race, and allow 2 weeks for racing. I think it would be ok, but it's ok
for me one way or the other. But I guess it's up to Flat-Out.

well maybe you should have done the 2 BC combos earlier :P and JGTC is only qualifying (if it happens this week)

just kidding i was thinking that the length of the race might make it 2 weeks, but i think it can be alright hey with just one week...

I'm not a huge fan of LaSarthe, but at least this is the one without the chicanes... That's much better...

So it hould be pretty good! Any special requirements to unlock this car? (I haven't even checked yet to see if I have it available or not, I'm just asking in advance...)

EDIT: Oh, and if we're voting, I'm voting AGAINST making this a 2-week race...

Bah! One week! The rules are relaxed, all pavement is good, it's "ONLY" 30 minutes, and there's one car to chose from. No chicanes. Not GT mode.

Just have some priorities! :^)

What I was thinking would be fun was if we could use the same car as the last La Sarthe race in GT mode. That way if you had a good setup saved already from that event, it'd be easier to get up to speed! Heh...

You've had pretty much 1 month for the BC combo, plus you dont need to do the rally combo. As your qualified in the Tarmac one 👍

As far as i know youve been involved with JGTC for ages now. So that one is null and void.

:lol:

Well, what can I say about this combo that hasn't already been said?

Nowt!

Fantastic combo Cyril! 👍 👍 👍 👍

This is more like it!

great combo flat-out, this is gonna be difficult
holy smoke! if holl thinks this is gonna be difficult, what about us poor earthlings?
still not too clear what cyril means by the 'offs' rule and how bad contacts are interpreted. what i understand is that if you dont get a drivethrough, you're alright?
just tried it out. i'm fumbling with ai strength and tyre choice. so far already a lot of restarts because of ai contact.
its a good thing we took lots of miles in le mans at the anni wrs and the arc rallye of late.
bye from sunny-at-last-holland.

Aww crap. If only I had more time!!! I think I'll manage though because of the Tuesday deadline... Means I'll have time to mix it in with JGTC on Saturday through Monday... Hopefully!

Sounds awesome though! Peace!

well had a quick go and found that ai set to -10 and on rsh is better, as u can pass the 2nd place car b4 the chickane (just), and then easily pass the 1st car is it wildly spins off the side of the exit of the chickane, so then its up to tire wear, and i reckon using soft/medium for front/rear is the best option, as the wear at a similar rate, the rear wears more severly naturally due to the twitchy oversteery nature of the car. 380 top speed is ok to reach a top speed of 354km/h down the main straight. i only finished a maximum of 4 laps in the 45 min session i had, i always spun off wildly somewhere, even when i wasnt pushing, as the car is harsh in some sections

edit ai -10, not +10, u wanna pass the stupid ai as quickly as possible

funny that coz they were the exact settings i was using as well, dunno who FO slipstreamed to get the 387kph top speed in his practice... possible though

this car EATS its rears savagely so it has to be watched a lot to save yourself from handfuls of opposite lock or worse dreaded spins, difficult combo this week but should be fun...

I've been setting the top speed to 410 km/h, and AI between +5 and +10. In that way I'm only catching up in the long straight and there I can slipstream everybody.
The problem is to stay far ahead then, to avoid being bumped into when braking.

CoolGeekz
....the red sections are legal?
Yes they are. Even the grass and sand are legal if you don't do it voluntarily and gain no time in the process.

It can be a 2-week race if a majority of racers think it's worth it. Or the deadline can be postponed by a couple of days and week 55 still be posted on schedule.
I'll decide what to do depending on what you suggest.

well i did get a tap right at the end of the straight but i wasn't the one forcing contact so i presume that is legal, have had maybe 20 clean laps in 2 and a half hours... this is too difficult to have the RS/RM combo, it unsettles the car too much, i will leave that in your alien hands Dan, i am running RM's front and rear and it is better balanced...

however on one of the races i pulled into the pits flat out assuming the car would slow down and stay on the pit entry, but it didn't, it flew straight over the grass in pit lane, and then the game took over and pitted my car. i was not penalised by the game with a forced pit entry on the next lap, but before people get into trouble with this i want to know whether it is legal or not???

and you should have made this a 9 lap race to make it a "half hour race" ;)

I think I just might give this one a shot.. Being your own Boss didn't mean anymore time off as I thought it would...

the idea was to make it a 2 week race, but i don´t see a lot of support for my idea:crazy: we will see how this develops today, maybe someone shows up to give me support...

@ dion, i know, its just that i have a feeling that times will be improved in the BC combo... i have to get a little better in one of those combos to stay cool... i´m struggling with then, but i´m fighting:ill: and i know, i´m involved with a lot of stuff. JGTC, DTM, WRS and BC:crazy: i´ll try to clear my head a bit after BC qualify and DTM is over...

If it's not voluntary and you didn't gain time (or speed) and it's a minor contact then it's ok.

The big questions are : did you hit anything ? and did you gain time in the process ? It's legal if you can answer twice 'No'. But you'll pay attention when entering the pits now, and hopefully you'll improve by the end of the week. :)

For most of us yes, but I want slow div 3 times to stay under that barrier too. And my very first try (which usually is similar to a slow div 3 submission) was just under 30 minutes for 8 laps. :D

No, and maybe (read below though)

well it is unlucky that i had a brain fade and exited out of the race screen so that i could upload the WRS52 replay, coz i hadn't saved what i was talking about and now cant verify whether it was clean or not :ouch: , but thanks for the heads up on what is legit and what isn't mate...

back to racing again... will save the damn replay this time.

I wouldn't mind it a 2 weeker, as long as next week is still posted on time.

thanks ca... er..... spartacus... cesar... gladiator... king... or whatever it is now:lol:

its Lord of the Nothing...

well did one time that had a couple of huge smashes and spins, but it was not too bad, apart from loosing 5 secs on the last corner due to getting stuck on the wall. i dont think -10 is good as u meet up with them again later on, and depending on where u meet them, it may spell trouble with a capital W. probably an ai set to 0 would be ok, dunno, and not sure about tire wear also, as i pitted on the 4th lap and the tires seemed fine, still on yelloeish, maybe a nursing act on the old softs fron/rear could be better, but didnt have time to do another stint

ok, sounds awesome this week. I wish we were racong the chicaned track though, i cant concerntrate for the whole straight at once!! On a similar topic, week 53 submitted now before i forget, lol.
